I’m a white Canadian and I support Jagmeet. He’s a really cool guy who’s prejudged by his looks but he’s a really nice man. I like his politics and his love for Canada.

As a "white" guy born and raised in Canada, I see Jagmeet Singh as my Canadian brother who will lead his riding in the proper direction.

I don't think Canada is ready for a Sikh president. For many reasons Majority are Christian Majority are European decent Sikhs are minority His turban not associated with any Canadian culture but only with his own religion and background Any Canadian can run for Presidency despite their religion or background But it will be difficult because most voters are white and Christian At least if he didn't make it to Presidency, he gave courage to and open a path for other minorities and religious associated groups to take this road. While I congratulate and encourage young vibrant leaders like Mr. Jagmeet Singh for politics/leadership etc, but if your starting point is to promote/protect your own ethnic/religious "interest" first and foremost, then, that's misplaced priorities. If Jagmeet wants to be the prime minister of Canada, well that's great, but what are his values and vision for Canadians, for all Canadians like those natives here who live in deplorable conditions for centuries now. As a canadian I am not a bit interested in Sikh related politics on 1984 and so on, but I can totally understand if he wants to bring awareness and closure to it with his new found political platform in addition to his overall vision for all Canadians. And for the record the sikh genocide in 1984, is that the only genocide happened on this earth? What about the Armenian genocide? the Tamil genocide, the Cambodian genocide, Rwandan genocide, which ethnic identity related genocide is your favorite pick? Naturally for Mr Sigh, 1984 sikh genocide is close to his heart, and wants to talk about it, and to me that's not a vision for a country, its more like a personal service/contribution to his community/group/religion etc, whereas a man of vision will talk about ALL GENOCIDEs and how to prevent such in future. As long as we're stuck in identity based politics, we would miss to serve humanity as one. I will vote for any leader who will serve and stand with the identity of humanity, which includes all, not the ones who is only interested in their specific ethnic/religious issues. May be Mr. Singh wishes to serve both, the humanity and his own skih interest/issues, and as part of serving humanity he could certainly attend to the needs of his ethnic roots. This is my honest view.

Those who ask this question to Jagmeet Singh that does he support sikh nation ,should ask india when it will fulfill its promise to give an independent nations to Sikhs. Before British left the India,Gandi and Nehru said to Sikhs that they don't have any objection to give independent region to sikhs in northen India (because it were British who annexed the Sikh nation into india) where they could enjoy the warmth of freedom.But when the British left the India they first declared Sikhs as a criminal community,then showed extreme hatraed towards Sikhs by supressing their culture, ethnicity, language and religion.when Sikh leaders asked Mr Gandhi and Nehru about Sikh rights in India then they just replied "Now the time has been changed Master Ji.

We condemn the riots would he condemn the air India bombing? The former Prime Minister was a Sikh, the current Air Force Chief is a Sikh. The former army chief was a Sikh and so on. I my self have visited gurudwars and had meals there. We are not Sikhs, Hindus, Catholics, we are Indians. We live in harmony. I HATE how Muslim and Islam has become a BAD word. As a Muslim myself I value attitude, behaviour, education and joy. Although I do not agree with all of NDP ideologies, Jagmeet Singh is a fitting leader so All praise too him and IF he can become the next prime minister all good on him and his supporters who exercise their rights to vote for their political ideology. This is Canada and we all have rights to believe and practice any ideology whether political, social or religious. I have to say Jagmeet Singh is a perfect leader for the 21st century and he will have many supporters who share his views and he is popular with the young crowd...There needs to be more leaders like him in all the parties who can identify with the growing youth culture within Canada; whether you are Conservative, Liberal, NDP...WHATEVER.

I like this guy and have been following him for a bit. I am a Conservative and a union steward with one of the biggest and wealthiest unions in Canada. But, he needs to be careful and not put his ideology ahead of all Canadians.

That wasn't long ago and he hasn't come out and said his old idea was absurdly horrendous yet. The media should ask him about this.

I have lived in Canada for 43 years, I do not feel I belong anymore. Firstly and clearly this is not based on race, or racism etc. I have friends from many countries, hosted students from around the world, yet I feel like a foreigner now. These are now daily situations that have brought me to this point. I am friendly and outgoing and can easily strike up conversations with anyone. This is why am feeling this way. I work for someone who hardly speaks English, does not like living in Canada, and expects me to work with the principles and cultures of their country which are very different from Canada. My boss is very disrespectful and distrustful. I used to enjoy going to work, over time it has now become a huge struggle. I recently applied for another part time position, the owner, again, of another culture, who employed other people, asked me various questions which are clearly illegal in Canada, I knew if I questioned this, any chance of the position would be over. I knew right away that based on this persons culture and their questions I would not be considered for the job. I live in a city where so many people now do not meet a basic level of English language that is required, in part because there are so many ESL schools are JUST for profit, I have hosted those students, who didn’t go to school for entire terms/semester, yet got a diploma for the required level because they paid for that diploma, and they wanted to earn as much as possible while here. Also illegal. Very little regulation or oversight done. I stopped hosting recently because I was expected to follow my guests customs and cultures in my own home. Service is eroding everywhere because Canada does not seem to know its own identity which it needs to pride itself on. I too am an immigrant I chose Canada because it was a mostly English speaking country, (fully aware bi lingual) and It was a commonwealth country and I liked the beauty of Canada. I understand over time there are changes in every country yet I feel I do not belong anymore. I listen daily to numerous people having the conversation that Canadians need to understand and accept their culture and the way they do things. It goes both ways yet I need to add that, when an immigrant comes to Canada one has to learn the culture of the country they chose to live in, NOT try to turn the country and its citizens into the country they left, usually one comes to Canada for better opportunities, better, democracy, better laws, better way of life. I was in the tourism industry and if I visited or lived in another country I abided by the rules and culture of said country out of respect for that country. My doctor also foreign, and very adamant and vocal about his political views was not a problem until I was diagnosed with cancer, his thought process then total lack of care when my cancer became complicated was a shock for me. I do not believe I need to be explaining so much when dealing with cancer when the doctor is letting his culture biases get in the way of treatment. I have numerous friends, who have financial means, who receive free English lessons, benefits, etc being new immigrants. Yet after working 42 years, paying taxes, close to death from cancer, I could not receive any in home care after being released from hospital unless I paid for it, which I cannot afford. Help all people so they all feel they belong. I am very sad that my “Canadian” way of life is being eroded here. I would like to note that I visit all festivals organized in my city year after year, enjoy trying new things meeting new people. So before the internet all jump on me for my comment. These are my comments and observations, I have not been rude, I do not want anyone to “go back home” Just my daily observations on life born out of Mr. Singh wanting everyone to belong- does he see me!

Jagmeet Singh is a Canadian and a product of Canadian society and culture, if some people dont realize that , than that is a huge problem, we have to understund that life is moving way faster than some hundreeds years ago, what we go through now in a few years , it used to take a few hundreeds years just a few hundreeds years ago. We have to look at people as people, not realizing that we are all humans and the same, is the sin we live with.

sikh and islam are totally different traditions .. islam is abrahamic (closer to christianity and judaism) ... while sikhi is dharmic (closer to hindu, jain and boudha)

Jagmeet is hot - especially with his hair out. He is clearly very religious - which isn't attractive - but Sikhism as a religion isn't weird like Christianity and Islam. But Canada has a lot of issues stemming through a liberal government - like excessive use of Marijuana in teenagers, and a rise in teenage abortions etc (abortion is fine, but lots of abortions can result in infertility), issues like second marriages in the Islamic community. He can't be as bad as Trudeau, who has done very little to fix Canada's problems and help it grow. Wearing tight clothing and speaking in different languages isn't enough, you actually have to create political change, stop fracking, and help society. Trudeau hasn't done anything. It's like Macron in France - it's just bad.

He’s an amazing politician and I hope I can confidently vote ndp. My riding is quite conservative. My conservative family members conceded at the last debate he was the most articulate.
