Thank you for keeping these magnificent engines on the road. I had 2 MK IX's from 1969-1975.

Splendid work. The XK is the most beautiful engine ever made in my eyes.

Yes, they are mechanical jewelry! I saw my first in 1965 when I went to look at my friends's brothers new Pontiac GTO. It was cool, but when I went next door to the young female neighbor she showed me here new Jaguar XKE and I was hooked. It was the Swiss watch of engines! I still own one, a 1965 Mk X! I sold my E type when I needed money to build my home and now can't afford another.

I am flabbergasted hearing how smooth and balanced to perfection you have gotten this engine to run...just absolutely amazed...usually other videos you watch you can hear the tappets making a noise when then engine is running...this is what we call blue print an balanced.

I've worked jaguars since 1963 and have overhauld loads of strait six engines, 2.4, 3.4, 3.8, 4.2, V12 & later 3.2, 3.6 Litres. First car i worked on as an apprentice was an XK120, 2nd car was a MK 1X.

I guess Jaguars aren't nearly as reliable and durable as the propaganda says and/or Jaguar dealers, mechanics and owners don't take very good care of them if you've rebuilt loads of every "current" Jaguar engine throughout your "career" given how "high-end" the cars supposedly are and how few Jaguars were/are EVER built for or purchased for even "normal" daily-driver use doing the wide range of driving the "average" driver of a more "practical" and "utilitarian" contemporary competitors of the "Jags" you wrenched on constantly presumably doing mainly lightrepairs and service and maintenance and tune-up type work does with his or her car. So dwhich is it? Shitty cars and manufacturer selling cheap junk wrapped in expensive propaganda to "discriminating" drivers with enough "scratch" to be able to afford the "high-end" supposed daily driver and all the maintenance and service and "minor repairs" they must need for somebody to make a 55-year "career: wrenching on what are very expensive and "specialized" cars clearly not build to be daily-driven "commuter" or "grocery getter" or "family truckster" cars being "abused" by not being "babied" enough even with highly skilled and very knowledgeable and experienced Jag-specific "technicians" doing the wrenching at professional, honest, dependable and reputable dealers with excellent parts and service support? And working on cars that must be about as common as Chevys in "Commonwealth" countries to keep dealers and mechanics that busy? Or a bunch of half-assed "mechanics" and "engineers" at Jaguar and Jag dealerships owned by "corporations" and wealthy "upper class" owners/investors who just break it off in the asses of every "middle class" Jag owner who can "afford" to have a "toy car" as they drive either much cheaper "economy" cars or take the bus or subway to and from work in the case of the mechanics/engineers and drive Rolls-Royces or Bentleys or maybe just a new "Jag" every couple months and maybe show up at their "business" a couple times a month to sign paychecks and otherwise are "out of the office" and out playing with their much more expensive "toys" at their "country houses" driving or riding in "good" cars so infrequently that even they never discover just how shitty British cars are even when "high-end" and "new"? And in a situation where since the "boss" is never in and never has to take any ass-eatings from pissed-off Jag owners sick and tired of their "high-quality" Jaguar sitting in the dealer garage more than their own garage while the ham-handed "mechanics" with "master" status stand around telling stories about what great mechanics they are to the "apprentices" who don't even want to work on cars period but didn't have the grades/connections/family tree to go to "university" and are just trying to figure out a way to get "sacked" without having it affect their "social status" and in general are complete fuck-offs anyway and illiterate and mechanically-declined ones at that just going through the motions of doing a "tune-up" on those piece of shit boat anchors that were jacked with and "updated" so often by the factory and dealers and mechanics alike trying to get the pieces of shit to run long enough to get the out of the factory, showroom and garage even the moron "engineers" writing the service manuals couldn't keep up "updating" manuals nobody at the dealership could read without either moving their lips or getting help with the "big words" anyway if they even had the manuals and hadn't used them for shit paper long ago? When Jaguar owners are all over the internet bragging about how good and rare and special and reliable and durable and valuable their "vintage" Jaguar or the SEVERAL most of them seem to have claimed to have owned that were all PERFECT but yet not "PERFECT" enough to NOT REPLACE at what is and has been for DECADES AND DECADES "low miles" for ANYTHING built in the U.S. and driven/maintained/serviced by people with half a clue is or are while for some reason being on forums/blogs/RU-vid videos about repairs and rebuilds and "restorations" and speculating on how "valuable" their supposedly "priceless" cars are/will be/were at "auction" or "private sale" WHILE "mechanics" like you make videos and comments and "helpful" recommendations talking about how many of those "high-quality" cars you've worked on in your LONG CAREERS that have been spent all on Jaguars doing all kinds of minor to major repairs/rebuilds/restorations on all kinds of Jaguars built in the last 60 years that either DON'T PAY VERY DAMNED WELL IF YOU STILL DON'T HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO RETIRE AT 70+ YEARS OLD TO YOUR OWN "HIGH-QUALITY" JAGUAR PROJECTS OR YOU'RE NOT MAKING A HELL OF A LOT MONEY DOING GOOD-PAYING WORK BECAUSE YOU'RE DOING THE SAME JOB TWO OR THREE TIMES ON EVERY CAR AND ONLY GETTING PAID FOR ONE OF THEM, I JUST HAVE TO WONDER WHO THE HELL YOU JAG "ENTHUSIASTS" THINK YOU'RE BULLSHITTING WITH YOUR DIRECTLY-CONFLICTING OPINIONS OF AND EXPERIENCES WITH THOSE PIECES OF JUNK THAT ACCORDING TO OWNERS CAN'T BE BROKEN AND ACCORDING TO MECHANICS CAN'T BE FIXED. And just how Jaguars HAVE BEEN BUILT AND SOLD IN THE LAST 60 YEARS FOR SO MANY INTERNET BLOWHARD BULLSHITTERS WITH VAST EXPERIENCE OWNING/DRIVING/FIXING/SELLING/BUYING/TRADING THEM OUT THERE HOLDING FORTH LIKE THEY'VE LIVED IN THE DAMNED THINGS SINCE THEY WERE OLD ENOUGH TO PEE STANDING UP? What i find HILARIOUS is how "popular" in the "states" Jagoffs in "Commonwealth" countries must think their cars are to waste so much time "selling" their brand and cars and services and goods online to what is at most can't be more than a few tens of thousands of hardcore "vintage" Jag owners in the U.S. where only ANGLOPHILES and "IMMIGRANTS" from "Commonwealth" countries and maybe the occasional son/daughter/grandson/granddaughter of same and MAYBE the DUMBEST of the DUMBASS "car collectors" who think "old" and "foreign" and "valuable" and "rare" always go together and a few idiots spending a lot of money on "full restorations" means Jaguars are "good investments" even know what a Jaguar is beyond a Jaguar and THAT WOULD BE JUST THE "CLASSIC JAGUARS" AND MAINLY BECAUSE THERE WAS ONE IN AN AUSTIN POWERS MOVIE. Because I can tell you from long experience there are two things Americans and especially "car guys" DON'T PUT UP WITH OR GIVE A SHIT ABOUT. THE VERY FEW LEGITIMATELY "SHITTY" AMERICAN CARS THAT "DETROIT" HAS PUT OUT IN THE "MODERN" ERA AND THAT EVEN "FANBOYS" OF THAT MAKE WILL ADMIT WERE "JUNK" FROM DAY ONE AND SHITTY BRITISH CARS AND THEIR BLOWHARD "ENTHUSIASTS' WHO CAN'T SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT HOW AWESOME THEIR WHOLE ENTIRE COUNTRY AND EVERYTHING IN IT AND THAT HAS EVER BEEN MADE BY IT IS WHILE HERE IN THE U.S. OR ON "AMERICAN" WEBSITES/SOCIAL MEDIA SITES OR BACK IN JOLLY OLD ENGLAND TALKING SHIT ABOUT AMERICAN CARS THEY SURE AS FUCK DON'T HAVE ONE TENTH AS MUCH EXPERIENCE WITH OR KNOWLEDGE OF AS EVEN THE UNFORTUNATE AMERICAN WHO MAY HAVE SPENT A MINUTE OR TWO IN AN ANGLOPHILE RELATIVE'S "AWESOME" BRITISH MG OR JAGUAR OR RANGE ROVER OR OTHER BRITISH SHITPILE BACK IN THE DAY AND EVEN IF ONLY SMALL CAN STILL REMEMBER HOW CRAPPY AT LEAST ONE THING ABOUT IT WAS.

That 3.8 S engine sounds so smooth, I'm very impressed, you done an excellent job, how much does it cost to have a 3.8 litre S type engine rebuilt?
@zurdoremi
@zurdoremi 5 лет назад
1965 3.8 "S". engine idles fine but when accelerated a clunking knocking sound is heard. Have been told it is the crankshaft bearings, and/or the flexplate. Drained the oil, lots of golden particles at bottom of drained oil. If engine is otherwise good, can the crank bearings be replaced with engine in situ? I do not think engine needs to be rebuilt completely. Thanks for any advice.

"Here is this rebuilt engine. I fixed on it and it runs. Call me." Well gee thanks. I came here looking for help with my XK engine and got an ad.

the 3.8 litre engine in my '65 S type has worn crankshaft bearings. Everybody wants to rebuild the entire engine, which it doesn't need at 83k miles. So I bought a running 4.2 XJ-6 engine and it is going into the S type.

it was supposed to be named the MK-3, at least it was called "UTAH MK3" during its design. Jaguar always had a problem with model names. Still does today.
