How hard can it be to help yourself if the 12 Volt battery has no power.
Could have been worse.

Umso besser.

Thanks to you ; I have this open in 30 seconds. Originally I'd have had my face in the manual trying to locate the troubleshooting guide that is probably written by someone who has never touched the car.

By now everyone's firmware updates should have fixed the 12V battery, charger and DC-Dc converter issues. But maybe there are batches of crap 12V batteries out there. All the other EV makers including Tesla have had the same issue. The software and firmware has to be smarter to manage the HV battery to 12V DC-DC converter and the 12V battery charger. There is no reason that the HV battery can't energize as necessary to keep the 12V battery topped up. I have found via the WattCat app, it shows the 12V battery voltage on the Detail page, that when the I-Pace is preconditioning the cabin the 12V is being charged. I have 3-4 departures set as recurring events over the week. I believe this is one way to keep the 12V batteries topped up and in good condition. I have had my I-Pace for 4 years since Feb 2019 with no battery issues, but also the dealer has been good in doing all the software updates too.

Expert advice from the electrician. This almost happened me many many years ago when the door was very slow to open and the car barely started up. Now I have a 12v battery charge monitor as part of a security app and keep an eye on it if not using more than a week so less likely to be a problem. Should be part of car's apps

From Uk Forum,!There are two 12v batteries in older pre MY21 iPace models. One is a start up battery which is normal and common among any EV. The 2nd battery is an emergency backup should electrics or the main high voltage (HV) battery fail and therefore allows the brakes to work in a reduced or degraded level of performance. This 2nd battery can cause issues as if it is dead or just a little low on volts amps the message is the same “Brake Pedal Feel Reduced”. And this is naturally concerning. This message could be displayed at a time when the battery had a brief reduction in volts or amps, or when it is actually dead or if the battery is perfectly healthy but the component charging it (DC2DC charge converter) is faulty and not charging it. All components could be in good health but out of date software or corrupted software may be influencing a hardware component and preventing it doing its job ie monitoring the 12v battery state of charge. So from the drivers perspective we see a caution message “Brake Pedal Feel Reduced” and it is directly related to this specific 12v battery. However the battery is really just the messenger. If the message is “Charge” then the battery may have received no message, a poorly written message, not given a message at all… but it gets blamed. Aside from doing its job and living its life span just as it would if it was installed in a petrol car it, it’s more likely to get the blame in an EV because there are so many other components suppling it or monitoring it and it’s a feather weight doing a heavy weights job. Normally the question is “What’s the voltage? Is it in range?” The question should actually be: Are the Volts and Amperage in a healthy range and is the software up to date?” If ‘Yes’ then start considering a fault with the six other hardware components that work as a team with the 12v battery and software to get the job done.

In my MY19, one of the battery terminals is still partially hidden by the remaining cowl after the removable part was taken off. The technician was stumped how to get the charger lead on that terminal, but figured out he could get a needle-nose channel-lock onto it, and then attach the lead to the terminal. Apparently the more recent models allow better access. Is it possible after a jump to start the car that it can be safely driven, and thereby charge up that low battery (as in an ICE car with an alternator)?

Could one plug a 12v battery or small solar panel through the old fashioned cigarette lighter sockets to resuscitate or augment a weak battery? My I-pace was built for North America and has several of those sockets.
@evilelectrician8903
@evilelectrician8903 6 месяцев назад
The sockets are only working when the ignition is on. If you are fit with car electrics you can modify the fusebox to keep power on the sockets on when the car is off. Then a small solar panel will work an charge the 12 Volt battery.

@evilelectrician8903

I drive usualy on city and country roads and rarely on the motorway and my I Pace shows me a range of 450 km on a full charge. On the motorway with a speed of 110 km/h it should be good for 350- 380 km in normal weather conditions.

My auxiliary battery was measured to have only 4V yesterday. I cannot start the car anymore. I got a replacement offer from one of two available Jaguar Shops nearby. They want aprox USD 800 for the job. I can buy the same battery for 10% of what they are charging. However can I just replace it myself or will I risk malfunction issues with the car of any kind by doing that? Maybe something needs to be reset or maybe it resets when I disconnect the existing battery.
@evilelectrician8903
@evilelectrician8903 2 года назад
Usually you can do it yourself. I don't expect a reset. In that case a reset would happen when the battery is dead too. I would change the battery by myself. Just take of the minus pole first and put it on the new battery last.

Thanks. I had a chat with my cousin who is an car mechanic for over 35 years an he said the same. If i got into any trouble (like need for programming) I could still bring it to the jaguar shop and even bring my much cheaper battery for them to install :-)

Our i-Pace from 2018 is showing "Hybride Accu Storing" which means "Hybrid batter error". Would it be the 12 V battery?
@evilelectrician8903
@evilelectrician8903 10 месяцев назад
There are some rumors about that fail on the Internet. It might be the 12 Volt battery but you should bring your car to the dealership. In the manual there is nothing about a hybrid battery error. Sombody else had the same error and later he lost the brakes so you shouldn't drive with that error.
@funkyasthedoc
@funkyasthedoc 10 месяцев назад
@@evilelectrician8903thanks! I did let it tow away to the dealer. They checked and it seems after the latest software update, it can detect faster if there's anything wrong with the battery pack. Now they will repair it under warranty.
