I’m on my third X-308 and agree it’s the high point of the classic XJ line. But while I love Jaguars of the past, I realize the brand needs to remake itself for the future. Under Tata’s enlightened ownership, and benefitting from Ian Callum's inspired design, Jaguar is once again offering luxury car buyers a uniquely British alternative to German and Japanese competitors. Hats off to Tata for investing billions in our beloved marque. Without them, and Ford previously, Jaguar would have gone the way of Rover and Humber, once-proud British car manufacturers most people today have never heard of.
Just bought my 1st Jaguar - So far ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! it does have 120k miles. I have the Vanden Pluas model. Anyone have any comments on the longevity of the car? Thank you.
It is a good car. Just check the Timing chain tensioners and if your car does not have the Supercharger then you have the ZF Transmission so watch out for the Tranny cause it will go out. The Timing Chain is a MUST
I bought my first xj8 a few weeks ago its a vanden plas, the fuel pump went out on me within 3 weeks of having her running great, she is currently still in the shop(british specialist shop) im getting sooo antsy watching this video!!!
Broo I got a xj sport 03 in about august my gooodness the fuel pump when out and I replaced it and it went out again and agian and agian just got it back from the shop has been great for the past 2 weeks honestly the reason it kept going back was because they said they didn’t put a good fuel pump But it’s good rn

There is "nothing leaking" as well it does not come with the service records... timing chain tensioners and gear box haven't been replaced, as well the transmission is 10k kilometers old. Appreciate any advice.
D C saw the car. outside looks nice. the way i like it. black, with chrome. interiour needs renewal. watch a video on utube, smoking tyre, where there is a jag with ls swaped angine. dude put audi interiour for 90$ or so. planning to get one too. these cars are very unapriciated. they are grey cardinals in car realm
Slight Overdoze any ideas on the engine issues theatre known to arise? I just watched that today actually though I like the jag seats- those tables, the seat adjustment from the rear for the passenger seat. I think thats my favourite part haha
bought a 1999 XJ 8 and LOVE IT!! Thanks for this is helped me understand what all of the buttons and features are! :). Gaduated from a 2002 S-Type to this and I love it!
Shows how far car and engine design has come in 15 years...my 180PS 2.0d XE has a faster 0-60 time than this (admittedly far prettier) car by 0.6s, yet the combined average fuel economy figure for the X308 was 23mpg whilst the XE gets about 51mpg (and I regularly touch 80 mpg on motorway trips).
@@roberthindle5146 no one buys an x308 for fuel economy as it has a v8 engine and weighs about 1800kg, but mine has a supercharger on it and even though its 20 years old ,it still beats the boy racers at the lights.
As of 2020 how much can one with a broken drive line but in great shape go for$? I’d like to find something to put a i6 turbo in . The engine makes 480 hp and about that much torque to. I thought about a 7 series bmw. But these are catching my eye now, especially the extended model. i6 is so quite! The turbo makes some noise, motor is so hushed when being civilized.
Vanden Plas is the US version of the British Daimler. Because of brand legislation, Jaguar was not allowed to use the Daimler brand name. Daimlers, all have Full Options, and are equipped with leather ect, by the highest standards. Also have versions with separate rear bench, adjustable seats.
