Am I the only one who loves the look of a car on a rainy day? You know, with the drops of water on the surface of the car, and the gray skies that set the mood calm, peaceful drive.
got my 2nd Jag - 3.0 S and boy I just love seeing cars still moving slowly away from traffic lights is a joy to be seen - great price for an used car but will keep it serviced to ensure lots of happy motoring over the next few years till we all have to buy electric!
2019.5 and still enjoying my 2011 XF 5.0 Supercharged (with some-xfr upgrades) @ about 50k-mi. Regularly serviced by JLR and has had no (serious) issues. Never been a fan of Jaguar but absolutely love this model/setup.
It is a British company. They are designed, manufactured and engineered in Britain by British workers. Built using European parts like any other European car, using British material suppliers. These days, car companies especially get bought and sold off all the time. Did you know Mercedes now has French and Japanese investment in the form of Renault and Nissan providing diesel engines to Merc? Did you know 20% of Volkswagens shares are with a Qatari investment consortium ? It really makes no difference. TATA wrote JLR a blank cheque, told them o produce and develop whatever was on the drawing board. Also, there is more to that deal than it simply being Indian owned. Many of its shares were bought by the British government, so it has genuine British investment. Whatever, they are gorgeous cars.
Actually much of the parts are made in the UK, the body panels, engine, the seats, etc the only reason why it appears that most parts are made in the EU is that cars use plenty of those smaller parts
Best engine the 3.0 diesel I have driven very calm and quiet 32mpg and I once I had 48mpg on a long run on the motorway . Always wanted one but was scared of reliability problems but you don’t see many on the back of tow trucks so took a chance. Never regretted it, a lot of car for your money second hand so if you want one take a chance it’s some kind of motor and its British
I have the XF 2010 and at 5'11" there is plenty of space in the back seats and head room I have never had any passenger complain about being short of space. Economy on a run I regularly 48 to the gallon so not bad
Matt 11 years ago: ooh yeah a touch sensitivite button, I like that Matt now: Oh no a touch sensitive button why can’t they just have a proper button for that?
Rented one of these for a weekend. Love it.. Quick. Quiet. Solid feel. Only two concerns.. When going over sudden changes in the road (bumps, pot holes) the sure footedness disappeared and the car seemed less confident. Unlike my BMW that soldiers right thru it. The other is maintenance. Jags history isn't very good and if I'm correct recent JD Power ratings show some "bugs" are still there.
I’m so sick of hearing that, those people have no idea what the talking about, Ford sold Jaguar to Tata about 2006, the XF has nothing to do with Ford, and what’s wrong with a Mondeo anyway.
I'm rooting for Jaguar. I hope they get better and I know they are. I'm glad they didn't go the way of the do do (bird). They might have been troublesom cars in the past (reliability) but hopefully that improves. They are the few carmakers that envoke great beautiful designs as well as performance. A unique driving experience. The XF and the new XKF are sexy.
the english know how to build beautiful cars, I also believe build quality has improved, only downside I can see is that is has no proper manual gear-box, something those who like to drive really needs. automatics are for bumper cars at the amusement park.
"there's no super economical unit like you get in german rivals" that's sort of point, big premuim car shouldn't be 2.0 tdi... six pot is the right way
Jaguar is British, its headquarter is in Whitley, Coventry, in UK. It's marque of Tata Motors, which is Indian, but Tata doesn't share nothing with Jaguar and Lando Rover (maybe only the chassis). Jaguar makes its engines, like the AJ-V8 in the case of XF, XJ and XK, and also in the case of the Range Rover. It's like the case of Ferrari, which is owned by FIAT, but Ferrari doesn't share nothing with FIAT. Ferrari has its engine just like Jaguar has its engine. Jaguar is British, not Indian.
I have the 3.0s which is now having its second plastic rocket cover fitted. On the first rocket cover that cracked I had to have a new egr unit. I have had to alter the rear fog lights as they failed. You get about 5000 miles on a set of rear tyres and they were Pirelli. When it’s working ok the car is amazing but to many problems
I have the 2010 portfolio, had it quite a while now, very good car, mines been remapped too, it was fast before, its very fast now, around 320bhp and nearly 500lbs of torque, just don't kneel on the front seats because it can stop your heated and cooled seats working 😢 lol
Luckily, it seems most people disagree with you - Jaguar's sales are at record highs thanks to their new design direction and more modern approach. I way prefer the new XF, XJ and XK to their older counterparts in terms of styling.
i've seen this car a lot on the internet, but yesterday one pulled up along side me at a stoplight and my god...it has got to be one of the most beautiful cars to look at. although i do welcome the new headlight design on the new face-lifted one.
@lewis72 (Except for your terminology) I agree with what you said. I never intended to put down or look down upon Jaguars, they are indeed amazing machines. I wish to own the XJ some day, but that'll be difficult, so I don't mind getting an XF either. They are much more luxurious than their German competitors. What made you think I thought ill of them? I simply stated facts. Also, Tata's are amazing people, very honest, respectable and growth oriented, I am proud of both.
@DisgruntledBrit I know it's over 3 months old, but despite that Fiat owns Chrysler doesn't make it Italian, though the new Viper will have components from Ferrari and the Caliber replacement will be based from an Alfa Romeo. The Maseratti Cinqueportte despite it's name, will be built at the Jeep Assembly Plant by Americans...so then technically that new Maseratti will be American, despite being an Italian company. in Jaguar's case, it's own by an Indian but that's it. The Jaguar is British.
That was good. You can add that in the country where I live (Italy) people are selling them because of the fear of fiscal controls. Hence I've just bought an almost new one (full optionals and 14,000 kms - or about 8000 miles only, from the official reseller) for less than half the price.
I plan to get one for myself, any advice in terms of maintenance will be most welcomed, btw I am from Malaysia, parts can be source from Singapore easily.
@a6km Bollocks. There are no Jaguar operations at all outside the UK. It's all designed in the UK, nearly all the engines are built in the UK (petrol V6 was USA but that's out of production now) Oh, ZF gearbox is built in Germany.
Almost all modern cars are built well enough to be considered ''reliable'' i have even seen people using Hayundais and Kias without any problem for quite some time.
I would just like to learn about the reliability. Jaguar has struggled in the past in that area, what is it like now. Maybe not enough time has passed to make a determination yet in regards to these new models.
To all morons commenting that Jaguar is now Indian company, some even claiming it's built in India. Before Tata bought JLR guess to who did it belong to. FORD. Was anyone complaining Jaguar is really American? NO. Yet now everyone is buthurt Tata is profiting of Jlr. Good only if you ask me since Jaguar improved ever since. Lastly all Jaguars have been built in Britain for the last 90 years and that's yet to change.
Hello. I need help please recently I was ready to buy a Jaguar xf 2011 petrol , so I found that car has a engine restricted , owner said .He ll fix it by Jaguar company will sell to me..So I want your advice about it ? Is it okay to I buy it after repaired or what ? Please help. The reason I want to buy that car.. Except engine problem , car condition as really good , everything exterior and interior , so what should I do? Any advice would help me to think about the car.. Thanks
Yaah thats possible but at least Chrysler has cheaper repair costs and parts though I never owned a Chrysler to be honest. Fullly agree with you on the Jaq though as someone who owned a Jag, a friend of mine also had one and said the same thing
Jaguar always have that distinctive styling compare to other cars. You can spot a Jaguar just on styling alone. There's a sense of elegance compares to MB, BMW, Lexus and that what separate Jaguar from the rest. Unfortunately, their quality isn't it's strongest suit. Well, I always have a saying you lease a European cars and you buy a Lexus.
@BankzZ89 If you buy a Japanese printer, the printed material belongs to you and not to Japan, similarly, if Indians buy a company, the cars manufactured are Indian cars.
@TitanSubZero15 So what do you mean, what matter is where the car is build or who own it ? the second case is more simple, the first case is hard to telle because there is 2 problems about it: 1/ pieces of the cars are today build in many different places and then assembly in one country, but is that make any sense ? 2/ if it's italian ingeenering for an jeep car, then italian or american ?
Chrysler and Jaguar are very reliable, i aint telling you because i read about it, but because I experienced it. My uncle's Mercedes E coupe fucked up when the car had only 20K kilometers, And I know few people who have issues with the Bmw 3 series. I dont want to argue Im just saying what I saw in real life.
The S-Type had soul! This one is like any other modern limousine. No difference when you see it on street. You can easy think that is a Skoda, or....Volvo, or BMW. On S-Type the design was so unique!
I suppose the dealer network isn't nearly as extensive as it is here in the UK so that would understandably put a lot of Americans off buying Jaguars. TATA still have a lot of work to do with Jaguar Land Rover. Their out right reluctance to develop a 3-series rival makes me worry for their future though...
