Given the low level comments presented here laced with profanity, l guess l can truly say this Jaguar appeals to a different crowd. I like and own the classic XJs and it exudes class and dignity that's a cut above the bimmer and Lexus types. That's what made the car so outstanding. It lifted you up to a higher class.
Ya i know its even more better in looks than a bentley...but thats a matter of perspective ...thats what i think...You cant compare a jaguar with a lexus ..Thats what is called lowering the company's standards...
@@reynaldohidalgo2943but jaguars are made by Tata. I’ve own a XJ I’m not loyal to any brand but I can tell you Lexus is leap years ahead in engineering and refinement.
They are incredibly fast!! I've hit 127mph on the M69 in Leicestershire, certainly doesn't take long, and the mood lighting makes it such a nice place to be.
I love this car for three reasons 1. It's English and I feel an English car has a higher sense of quality and also more character than any of its European counterparts. 2. The styling is impeccable, this same shape has been used since 2010 and still looks more beautiful than the newest S-Class. 3. IT'S A FUCKING JAG and the engine of course.
Evilsork I'm Indian and i can assure you that Tata Motors, the owners of JLR, have no role in the making of these cars whatsoever. They are simply shareholders.
Evilsork English quality in terms of style and look, but before Tata, they really didnt have it English like build when ford had it, but I think up to 2010 or 2011, ford still had influence in some faint design, Jaguar, under Tata new ownership didnt kick in until 2012, in terms of new engines and design
The older Jaguars were not only beautiful but unique. Their sedans were a real gentlemans car and offered a luxuriousness that could only be matched by a Rolls or Bentley. The modern Jaguar sedans don't deserve the discription of beautuful. They are now just a fashionable badge. Even the X Type which has had many bad reviews does at least have a lot of Jaguar heritage about it's appearence.
I love your reviews... they are so well-made. And those 6 minutes 30 is also about perfect time for a review. Not as short as 4 min, and not as long as 25. I think something about 8 minutes 30 would be perfect :D
I honestly think jaguar has beaten the germans.... same with all British cars. I'm italian and i love the italian cars, no they aren't the fastest and no they aren't the most technologically advanced, but they pay the most attention to detail and are mostly hand made (or as hand made as possible with the materials they use)... but what makes them feel special is the attention to the details the time and effort someone took to put that together, and you realize that the reason this person did this stitching of the interior or put together the engine is because cars are their personal passion, what the people of the nation live and breathe and thats cars, that being said my love letter too italian cars is over. jaguar and aston, rolls, and eagle etc.. are better than the germans for this same reason, the cars they make aren't for buissness persons but people who truly love cars, like italian cars the british cars have soul (albeit not quite in an italian way) and the details in the british cars are spot on.. the germans think that speed and specs solve everything but the fact is that it doesn't. as they continue to introduce technologies that take away from the driving experience and use technologies that allow them to put details in cheaply, you loose the most important piece of the car, and thats how it makes you feel.. is it stirring your soul and making you fall in love? or do you know that its just another car that was pressed in a factory that goes like the clappers but ultimately leaves you feeling cold... whats the point in having all the power in the world if it doesn't make you feel special? good on you jag for putting cars out there that are relatively attainable to the common man that deliver what we've lost in cars and have been in search of ever since.
Finlay Norris ahh yes waiting for that one guy who tries to say that british cars are better. but they aren't, in the the past and even now ferraris have been decked out in leather completely. even the headliner is leather, you won't find wood because of the geography of the country. in england there is all sorts of wood for the cars and the empire also allowed the wood to be imported. in italy its not like that. so they look toward actual design where as in britian all the cars have the exact same interior... wood leather and no creative design that makes the interior of the car beautiful. in a ferrari or lamborghini, there is literal art work in the cars, there is sculpturing there that isn't on any other car, the interiors of italian cars are absolutely gorgeous, and yes the interiors are completely hand stitched to think they aren't is not true do some research because I've seen videos of people stitching the cars together, and the cars are as hand assembled as they can be. unlike the rolls and astons, this is because the engineering of the cars is way more advanced to a point where human hands just don't have the accuracy to produce the work by hand. furthermore the engines are better, the gearboxes are better. they drive better and are literally the only cars that truly have soul that isn't found in any other car. furthermore, you never see automotive reviewers look at the interiors of the italian cars because the rest of the car is so much more than that. that is not the case with many cars you've listed... the interior of those cars are basically the reason why one would own those cars, the aston martin interiors are just like those out of italy if not worse. furthermore you cannot tell me about british craftsmanship because it is known for horrible quality. the aston martin db7 had door handles from an mx5 and you are trying to tell me about italian cars? have you ever heard of pagani? the interiors on those cars is of a way higher quality than anything out of england. furthermore you're trying to tell me that they aren't as good? plz go do some research on italian cars especially up coming italian cars because they put other cars to shame
+Adam Othman Whoah Whoah Whoah, hold your breath! You just stated that Ferrari's 'won't have wood because of the geography of the country'! Number 1: As far as I'm aware Italy has forests and woodland as well as the UK and Number: Not all British cars have the same interior! A Mini Cooper does not have the same interior as a Land Rover Defender! Sure, if Italian interiors are your favourite, fair enough it just your opinion but don't try and justify that by telling blatant lies about Brit and Italian cars. I rest my case.
Edward Keane Okay... the trees in italy are not suitable for making interiors in the same way that the trees in england are. furthermore thats true not all the interiors are the same. but once you get to a certain a level they pretty much are, a jaguar is decked out in wood and leather. so is a rolls and so is a bentley as is morgan, not a bad interior but in my opinion theres no sculpture, no artistic design to the interior of a british car. where as on italian cars there is... furthermore you tell me I'm lying about british cars.... when in actual fact i find your subjective views regarding british cars to allow you to perceive such nonsense. i said they were badly made, thats completely true, in the past british craftsmanship has not been known to be the best or anywhere near the highest quality. jeremy clarkson often says (only enough when he's reviewing a hand built british car) that the door feel like its going to fall off. but where as when he drove the alfa romeo disco volante, he said it feel like its mass produced. That right there is the difference. but don't get me wrong the british have produced some fantastic cars over the years. though not reliable or particularly well made, they were beautiful and fast. the best british cars after all did have american engines, cars like the cobra, interceptor, the allard, etc..
+Adam Othman +Adam Othman +Adam Othman if you are judging cars from Britain having the same interior as each other simply because they have large amounts of wood and leather inside then I could say the same about Italian cars with just their leather. But I won't because an interior of a Ferrari and Lamborghini are not the same, or even similar, just because they both use similar materials and vice versa with companies like Aston and Bentley!!! Of course your opinion about artistic design is just your view and I respect that so I won't bother arguing in that front. As for you denying my views, well it's just not civilised in this day and age. Oh and if your going to go off about 'bad British build quality'. Mini Cooper. Jaguar E-Type. Rolls Royce Silver Shadow. Bentley Arnage. Aston Martin Db5. McLaren P1. I've just quoted some of the most influential BRITISH cars ever. Without their build quality they would have never made it to fame.
It's always cute seeing people who don't own cars even close to this price range talk about which one is better like they've personally owned one for years.
I love the jag. I want one. The reason is that i feel like out all the luxury sedans its has aggressiveness, luxury, and most of all it feels like more than a car. It feels like another part pf you
There is something about a Jaguar, I have an older one and people swoon (particularly women) little do they realise how old it is and how little its now worth, cheap chic? I love it and one thing is for sure they are not common and sterile, like some German brands.
Well said lffit, I have a 1996 X300, XJ6, 4ltr, LWB. And nothing comes near it as a luxurious car for the price. The newer Jaguars can't wear the discription beautiful as they don't have the curvacious shape of the older ones. There was some hope when Geoff Lawson was there at Jaguar but when Ian Callum came into the picture they cared more about popularity in design (Look alikes) than the traditional Jaguar styling and beauty. Jaguar car designs have joined the masses like Mercedes. Audi and BMW and worse the Jaguar interiors have no connection with the fabulous unique interiors of the the past. I see no tradition in Jaguars anymore. They are just another car. With jaguars cars I used to say "You either get it or you don't" They were a car for the individual and not the masses. That was what William Lyons aimed at. If he was after the masses he would have made tin cans like most of the other cars on the market. Now that are just expensive aluminium cans.
@@richardautenzio8117 I have an X Type AWD beautiful to look at imo, but it has to go according to 'another' in the family, had it for 19 years its black one of the best colours, now it needs new brakes a couple of sensors and the headlining had drooped, my fault decided to vacuum it lol The proportions, the wooden dash the four lights up front and the lines do it for me, even my 35 yo son asks why didn't Jaguar keep the wood dash and the four lights? The idea of see it going to be possibly trashed irks me!
@@lffit Jaguar have lost the plot. William Lyons made unique beautiful cars fro the few but today who ever owns and runs them (TaTa and ? ) now make cars for the common masses. Jaguars at one time had a good niche market and they made classy luxurious sedans. (The gentleman car) Now that they appeal to the popular masses they produce what the popular masses want. Their original buyers have gone away in disgust. Jaguar cars are just like all the other so called luxury cars now. They are common cars with just a fashionable name. In the past my conversation about Jaguar would often end in "Well you either get it or you don't"
***** I did not, not yet...but I'll check it out. The XF and XJ are the favourites to be honest. The F type coupe is sinful, a rampant display of automotive muscle.
This car is "Driver's Car". Driving is super fun in this compared to the S550, bar none. When behind the wheel, the Jaguar makes to smile all the way where S550 doesn't. I am still deciding on XJL 3.0 AWD, trying to get out of X5 SUV, if all goes well I may be picking one in Jan next year.
Yes you are right, driving Jag is more enjoyable than being a passenger. Jaguar XJ is a alternative to Maserati Quattroporte or Porsche Panamera i think since ride is little bit firm if we compared with Mercedes S or BMW 7.
5:16 Driver: Do you hear the supercharger? Me (seating at the back): YEAH Driver: You don't get that in the back Me (still seating at the back): Why the fuck would you expose me like that???????
Would you consider doing more reviews with Drew? I thought you were a great pair. Great video, funny and engaging with just the right amount of stats thrown in for good measure. Next video idea... Drive from London to Berlin in a supercar???
They should have used the Daimler brand, based on something like the previous generation XJ, updated with the latest engines and technology and this interior.
This car is awesome but hase one little flaw - the screen resolution of the dials is too low. Pixels can be clearly seen wich are a massive turnoff in my humble oppinion. Screen res up or go back to beautiful analog dials.
These guyz work hard and long to create world-class quality and Jaguar has always been my personal favourite, I allow anyone to have their personal favourites too, but we all have to admit, S-class has nothing on this car.
Both surpass it! Although the jag has the best design in my opinion! If i would have the money to buy the jag, the design would be the only reason to do so! In terms of engines, transmissions, suspension, reliability, technology and fit and finish it can't compete with the Germans!
The LS is meh but I would take an XJ over a long wheel base 7 series. To me the 7 series isn't even worth buying over the smaller yet better looking 650i GC; its just a bloated 5 series.
cristiandemirel1918 Sorry to break it to you, but Jaguar reliability far exceeds that of its German rivals, especially long term, & thats coming from someone who has owned Jaguars consistently over the last 15 years & worked in the motor industry. I've also owned a variety of German cars & still have a Porsche. I've never been left stranded in any Jaguar, but I have, many times in all brands of German cars. I`m afraid German engineering died out in the early 90`s after the accountants took over & started making cheaper cars for volume sales... German quality is a distant memory & a myth that advertising companies still perpetuate, sadly know-nothing consumers who desire a `prestige` badge still fall for it.. A great trick if you can pull it off.. If you buy German cars these days you need to sell them before their 5th birthday or you WILL have hefty bills coming..
MrPabsUk Bad luck! That's your experience! I own a BMW 3 series sedan and a A3 AUDI, both of them are over 10 years old, and i also didn't have any breakdowns. I wasn't referring to reliability, but I would pick a german car over a british one, any day of the week, if that was the only criteria! I have great respect for the history of british automotive engineering, but right now it can't compare with the products coming out of germany! That being said, who knows what the future holds!
+Evilsork. The ideas behind Jaguar are still English regardless of what country owns the brand. I am not being overpatriotic, just saying as it is. The union jack is still on the hubcaps same as Land Rover
i love your reviews honestly , professionally well made as usual, but i've a wish and i know it's abit daring but if this ever happen, i'd be the happiest man on earth, i wish if you can one day make a review about the Mercedes SLR or the SLR 722 , and i hope someone from XCAR will reply me if possible. lamine your fan !
:( now that I'm seeing this I hate my own XJ, this is so fuckin gorgeous ! the exterior is all the same but interior specially rear seats and its features are so cool
XJ L , 3.0 , 2011 , doesn't matter though, i had a really bad accident and its badly wrecked now,l wanna sell it right outta the garage, its so fuckin high maintenance, I spent 7 thousands, to replace the front suspensions, shock absorbers, break pads, and lower wishbones, :/ and its was right before the accident
Deity Slayer Why didn't you get it from Carmax with a warranty? At least in the US, Carmax offers a 5 year, 80000 mile warranty with every car they sell for about 3500 dollars.
There are some great cars out there BMW's, Merc, etc. But Jaguars are special. There not as common and always turns heads. I can't tell you how many times drivers of other luxury cars change lanes to get a closer look. Just the name Jaguar says it's all.
LOL - IN THE WORDS OF THE GREAT PHILOSOPHER - 'CLARKSONIUS OF TAP APPARATUS' - "BENE JAAAAAAAG". PS - I HAVE A 3.0 XF AND I THINK THAT IT'S GORGEOUS FROM EVERY ANGLE AND I LOVE IT - THE XF AND XJs ARE REALLY TOP CARS.
The Jag was given to them by Jag, hell they're probably PAID to drive (and write about) it, but they certainly aren't paid for the food they bought in the video.
