I had one and loved it, also an S-Type 4.2 V8. Both lovely, but a bit heavy on the maintenance - I had quite a few problems with the air suspension in the XJ. I think the modern Jaguars have lost their way, producing cars just like BMW or Mercedes, but without their R&D. For me, the USP was always the gorgeous leather and wood interiors. Down the road from you, near Bodmin!

Thanks for the comment Chris, always great to hear from a local watcher of my videos. I enjoyed the XJ8 very much and up until recently had an S-Type R myself (there is a video on the Channel if you have not seen it). Costs can be a little eyewatering, but these Jaguars do drive beautifully so there is a little reward for getting them right. Thanks for watching - do stay tuned.

I'm thinking of buying a XJR or XKR, im thinking of a car to go long distances, what would you get? Im a single guy so i don't need much space...but i love the classic jag styling of the X350. Ive never had a performance car but i have the money to spend if things go wrong
@cornishcarcollectors
@cornishcarcollectors Месяц назад
Thanks for the comment - you cannot go wrong with either an XJR or an XKR... personally, if I were buying one to use, then I would go for the XJR as it is more practical and it looks 'bad ass'! Good luck with your purchase and be sure to subscribe and follow my Channel as there's a new Jaguar joining my collection very soon!

According to the magazine Jaguar world the X308 was the best XJ ever made

Thanks for the comment. I suppose the X350 had to move with the times like everything else, but as you say it did keep lots of those more traditional looks. Thanks for watching.

I have a immaculate X358 2.7 diesel, remapped ECU with 258bhp and 400 lb feet torque. The only cars that I would consider replacing it with would be a Maserati Quattroporte or a Bentley Arnage, both with the potential to be ruinously injurious to my wallet.
@cornishcarcollectors
@cornishcarcollectors 2 года назад
Thanks for the comment. Your X358 sounds great and, as you say, far more affordable to run than the Maserati and Bentley. The 2.7ltr diesel is an excellent engine. Thanks for watching.

Stunning cars,i have had 3 xj40s,series 3 6 cylinder and v12 daimlers,a 300 sovereign, a xjr, 2 x308 sovereigns.i am on my 2nd x350,the mighty super v8 of which thankfully these are rapidly appreciating in value.the 350s are the best xj by a mile.it alk went tits up in 2010 when ian callum destroyed the style of all jaguars.there will never be cars like this again unfortunatley.all modern cars including jags are pritty much dead to me now.electrification is destroying the car.i dont no,your selling all the cars that i like starting with the mk 1 sierra lol.i hope its not a german car,there aint a german brand car i like at all.all way to bland.none match jaguars.

Thanks for the comment and great to read through your Jaguar history - you've had some awesome cars. I do agree, the X350/8 is the last of the 'classic Jaguars' and the more modern cars really are something of a disappointment. The new car, coming soon to the Channel, is not German... and based on your car history I am certain you'll like it (or at least be interested to see progress with it). No plans to sell anything else... the Sierra GL went to a friend of mine and the XJ8 was swapped for a car I have always wanted. Also, I've still got lots of old Ford and MG / Rovers in the collection to feature. Thanks for the continued support and for watching.

I’m looking at buying a 2008 XJ vanden plas this week, 51000 miles, great condition, all new brakes and tires, would get from my acquaintance for $5500, or a little less even if I can negotiate a bit more. That sound pretty good to you? Nice video here and really appreciate the history lesson , and your attention to detail and intricacy! Thanks from Philadelphia

I owned for many years a wine red 1989 S Klass Mercedes 420 SEL and loved driving it, planning on making my last car, however that wasn't to be. It had started costing too much and I traded it on a black Jaguar XJ8 2005 and I really like it. The J gate transmission is a lot of fun to drive and I'm amazed at the fuel economy. It's quite amazing for a V8.

It was the only one car I liked outside Rover firm Sir ! I was ready to buy a second hand Jaguar xjr 4.2 Super V8 , V.P with 3 screens & sunroof ( long wheelbase) , in 2020 (without selling my Rovers - 414 SLi & 45),but I was a little bit unlucky, despite the fact I could afford the purchase of that great car.. It's the last modern Jaguar bringing back memories from..the old school car designs...I like this big cat more than the modern models..

These aluminium bodied cars are probably the best of the breed. Light, better on fuel but the retro styling (at the time) probably handicapped it. The Ian Callum version that followed isn’t half bad either and again will probably be the last of the breed. The global large sedan market has all but evaporated and even the Germans struggle to make the business case work now.
@cornishcarcollectors
@cornishcarcollectors 2 года назад
Thanks for the comment. Style-wise my favourite is the Series 3, but I agree the X350 and X358 aluminium bodied cars are the best of the bunch... decent balance of classic lines and modern comforts. Thanks for watching.
