Just came across this - great video and great value. I remember test driving a friends one in mint condition , loved beyond measure. He wanted 5k and I thought that was steep so went with an evo instead. Have regretted it ever since. Fascinating content will subscribe as I am sure you will of sorted the issues by now

Thanks for the comment. Nice to have a Capri in your car history. I too have a 2.0ltr Capri in my history and loved it, an '86 Laser and I'd have another... I'd probably let the 2.8 Injection go for a decent Laser. Thanks for watching.

I would love any of the XK's or XK8's the 4.0,4.2 or 5.0 but from my research it seems the 4.2 KXR is the sweet spot reliability wise?

This is going to look so good once finished, I think you should get a new exhaust though!!! Are the brakes standard? Will you be stripping and restoring them if they are?. You should definitely drop a nice turbo upgrade in it!!! 😂
@cornishcarcollectors
@cornishcarcollectors 4 дня назад
Thanks for the comment. The exhaust has to go and will but I'll probably use the car for the summer and look to change it during the winter months. Brakes are indeed standard but are all new, and as for the turbo it is a Turbo Technics hybrid build which was done last year (you'll see I feature it in a previous video). I appreciate you watching, thanks.

@cornishcarcollectors 9 дней назад
Thanks for the comment James and the question, here you go… Prom: A ball or formal dance at a school or college, especially one held at the end of the academic year for students who are in their final year. 👍 As for driving the Sierra, the engine still needs to be run in so it requires “snow flake” driving for the first 1K miles, I did mention it in the video. Thanks for watching, I appreciate it, oh and by the way it’s “an American “. 👍

Hello Andy Yes the light at the end of the tunnel is nearly in reach and the cossie looking good The bogging down issue could be an air flow sensor as these normally only play up when cold and would want the car to stall just a thought as i had the same problem on a Serria cosworth, in the end the air flow sensor and crank postion sensors were changed which rectified it. Anyway mate im so looking forward to the final video of the car complete CheeRS Nigel 🍺

Thanks for the comment Nigel... I am nearly there! Thanks also for your thoughts on the bogging down on cold start issue, it is an annoying one. It's in next week for the tune to be tested and mechanicals so I am sure it'll be sorted - I'll let you know what's found. Thanks for sticking with the videos and following the restoration.

@@cornishcarcollectors You’re welcome and I really enjoy your videos they are much appreciated. My dad had a 2wd Sierra Sapphire Cosworth in magenta back in 1989 which is what made me want one. His had 330 bhp which was a lot for 1989 and the car was fast. I have some great memories from those days.

With the leather seats I used to have the passenger upright transferred over to the drivers side and use the leather out of the back of the drivers put into the bolster and the back replaced with a non leather , you’d end up with two perfect seats and a mint drivers seat

Thanks for the comment and congratulations on the find. 👍 Value all depends on model and condition. Whilst the Rover 800 is a rare car these days, rarity does not always equate to high values. The best cars are listed at around £5K but as to whether they sell for this is a whole nothing consideration. It's a heart and not a head decision when it comes to buying, maintaining and running these 90's Rovers. Good luck and thank you for watching the video.

I recently bought a 2006 XKR-S convertible, with the old body styling like in this video. Black outside, two-tone red trim on white inside (a blessing when driving with the top down in Texas). I think it puts out about 420hp. A fantastic car to drive. Holds a smooth, effortless 110mph on a straight road, almost like flying a plane. Steering is on the heavy side and takes some physical effort, but I love driving it on road trips when I want to relax.

Never had a 2.8... I purchased a Mkll 2.0s - 1978. From a local auction in 1981... £180.. I bought a extra set of rostyles with better tread. Used them during the winter months. (Kept the lower tread wheels and tyres in the boot to reduce the back end flying about)... Removed them during the spring /summer months. A riot to drive and the engine simple to work on. Keep the backend sliding. Rear wheel drive is the way forward 🤔

Few years ago I owned a (Imperial blue!) SportKa and loved every minute of it. That colour coupled with those lines, and then that wonderful gearbox! Then I got too enthusiastic with my weight shifting technique and oversteered it into a tree. I became the happy new owner of a bright red StreetKa today, same gearbox and supple suspension. This one won't end up against a tree.

Thanks for the comment and enjoy car shopping, you've a nice list there! I own a Mk3 Focus RS so will bring bias to the conversation, so will refrain from answering (buy a Focus RS!). The Focus RS is likely to be Ford's final RS product so it is the end of an era, meaning if you do not own one now as a daily then you'll unlikely ever have one. Golf R is a great car albeit a little boring (sorry everyone), and as for the Subaru... very cool, but of course I'd still take the Focus! Good luck and thanks for watching the video on the Sierra.

That very Capri (same registration) was my late Dad’s back in the 1990s. He loved it but he had to sell it during hard times. He did always wonder what had happened to it and was gutted that he had to sell it, particularly because it was in decent condition at the time, but it was before it became a classic. But he would have been happy to know its found a home and is getting used.
