On your question on actors, 95% of people who acted as Irula tribe are people from Irula community, including Irutappan and people in the scene where tribe complaints to the Police IG Perumalsamy. The director made it a point for Manikandan(Rajakannu) and Lijomol Jose(Sengani) to stay with Irulas for 1-2 months as a fellow tribe to emulate them better in the movie.

It's not about industry it is the problem with people. In telugu people will appreciate if this movie done by Kollywood or Mollywood or Bollywood actor but if the same movie made by Telugu lead actor they won't accept. It is not the industry not capable since the people won't appreciate they are not focusing. But Tollywood also have good raw intense movies which might not be popular.

This is an excellent movie, many people particularly in Tamil Nadu would have a problem with the fact that the movie characters were not represented the way it was in real life. But I personally don't appreciate people to learn history or any kind of moral values through movies. If you ask me I hate discrimination not just because of a movie, it coz I have a brain and it says I have to treat people equally irrespective of their caste, gender, sexual orientation. As a Movie lover I loved it and was crying literally. I felt the pain of the people who are going through such discriminations.

Bhim short for Bhimrao is the parent given name of Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar. A very important person to fight for untouchables in India. He is a key member of Drafting the "Constitution of India". He was born in an untouchable family but His Brahmin(One of the high Castes in India) teacher, Krishnaji Keshav Ambedkar, changed his surname from 'Ambadawekar' to his own surname 'Ambedkar' in school records.

Most of the people who played the irula community are from the same community! the main characters rajakannu and sengeni lived with the tribe for months to get into that character! The film started an important political discussion resulting in census of all such tribes and reforms were introduced to better their live and govt. has started providing free lands to the tribe now. This movie changed the entire life of Tribes overnight. Power of Art!

I am not criticize any one because I know that independence was received by the integration and patriotic efforts of our all people in our country. I am commented related to this movie only. @@starprem4800 Damn something new I learnt today. Just looked up the facts about Velu Nachiyar and Puli Thevar and it checks. Hope our History books get revised and our future generations get to learn the entire history if India rather than only focusing on the Delhi Sultanate, Mughals and British... Coz that's the majority of history we learn (atleast in CBSE schools). There are chapters and even entire books that just span the Mughal History or the British History. Meanwhile the history of say the Sikhs, Rajputs, Marathas, Cholas, Cheras, Pandyas, Ahoms, Bengalis, etc. have been summarised in paragraphs. At the most they get a page or two worth of history. That's just the sad state of our History Education focusing on the history of our oppressors rather than the history of the people of this land...

I would really recommend Jaby and Achara to read about the caste system in India, its history, its impact in today's Indian (irrespective of religion or whether or not the Uppper Caste people are in India or as immigrants of other countries). I especially recommend works of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Jotirao Phule and Periyar who were social reformers and the pioneers of the anti-caste movement. In the contemproruy world, works of Suraj Yengde, Yashica Dutt, Meena Kandasamy etc. Casteism is a disease in India... as systemic and as state sanctioned as racism in the US. But unlike state sanction, it is also religiously sanctioned by Hinduism. Learning about it will help you appreciate these kind of socio-political movies a lot better, with a whole new depth.

That is because someone mentioned that they are disgracing their community by using a symbol which is on a calendar in the background in some scene. That scene doesn't even focus on the calendar. It's just placed there to show that the year is 1995. Even after the director has clarified on that still they are going against Surya because he was the producer.

The actual case verdict came after 10 years of struggle per information from Judge - Chandru (retired), who was the laywer who attended the case at that time. The actual incident happened in 1993. If you have time read the recent police brutality that happened last year which lead to the death of the duo - Father and Son "sathankulam case", on some petty grudge between two sub-inspectors and Victims.

9 years actually. Here they showed the first part of the case. The second part of the case was to confirm the punishment to the cops which ran in the criminal Court. That went very long.

The thing about admitting to crime is, once a person is accused police will mark him as thief and arrest him for another case. Like shown at first, the police were arresting just released people. Admitting to crime will lead to life long suffering.

In India, the lawyer who speaks for the government / government officials are called AG. Attorney General for Central government and Advocate General for State government. Their job is to backup the name of the system of India. Any cases filed against Government of India (GOI), they will handle it.

The fantasy given to the indian public is usually about an 'encounter specialist' cool police hero, who 'solves' cases 'quickly', and cute/funny names for all the creative torture methods. This is the reason why when any gruesome incident gets public attention, people call for the 'encounter' of the accused even before any fair trail happens. Meanwhile, this is the reality in 99% of such cases.

You must watch and review "Garuda Gamana, Vrushaba Vahana" Kannada film. This film is one of the best film in Indian films. Unfortunately you don't have chance to watch in OTT as it is theatrical release.

You two are excellent and sharp in your observations and articulating it for better understanding even at a layman level. Even Indian context you are able to understand and relate it at normal human parlance. Jai Bhim is a fantastic movie of social ills, oppression of tribal community, atrocities by the police, lawer combo and winning a battle at the end, good and law prevails. I am in awe of Ex-Justice Shri.Chandru, he is an excellent lawyer, Judge par excellence and a role model. I have been witness of some of his sittings at Chennai high court. We need more like him all around India courts. God Bless ALL

my point of view, Ambedkar is the true leader.. we have other great leaders as well like Mahatma Gandhi, mother terasa, Periyaar etc. But I feel Ambedkar is on top of all as he tries to fix the core problem (in a more legal way). FYI, lockup deaths based on caste/political power/money still happens in 2021 in india. Hope things will be better in future

This is very real. This is still happening. In some way or the other, discrimination is going on. This is called Caste. Which the ones of upper caste will say there's no caste at all. Go through the real instances happening and do as much as you can to help India become caste free. The present govt is supportive of Hinduism. Because of the present govt low castes are being neglected, used, harassed, and treated badly. Please go through caste system and discrimination through caste.
