I agree James is the best, we all appreciate his brilliant efforts, it keeps T S available to us from all round the world who con not get to where they are playing.
I love how Tuba Skinny always gives each musician a solo, with the others backing up him or her. Then they're always perfectly in time and in tunes. Pure pleasure!
Many thanks, James. Interesting to hear Shaye say, at 06:57, 'Just in E flat'. When they play 'You Gotta Give Me Some' with Erika doing the vocals, they usually start and finish in E flat but she sings it in B flat; Greg prefers to stay in E flat.
To me, "Gimmie Some" has become their theme song. Shaye's look on her face during Craig's long note is hysterical lol. People, just when you think Shaye has reached her peak , she comes up with a solo that is out of this world. There's no stopping this brilliant woman/musician. wnhoel band has improved over the last 5 years...very tight, very musical, and very skilled. one of these days I'm gon to "Sash=Shaye" down to New Orleans or somewhere to see them in person. It ain't just the music, it;s the individuals in the band...I don't care what their backgrounds are, they are fabulous and bring peace and joy to the world through their human touch on the performances. That is what music is supposed to do. This is a great band here, and becomes greater whenever Erika Lewis tours with them, as she brings a certain aura and vitality with her, like that extra ingredient that makes the meal that already tastes good, now tastes superb. It's not rocket science, it's just intuitive.
They are truly masters of their art now, wonderful musicians, and Shaye is such a presence and just a tremendous leader, the indispensable member of the group.
Great solos by Robbin on washboard&Todd on Sousaphone, with brilliant work by the others led by Shaye who just loves her coronet,& her face just showed her joy!
Somehow I've never watched this before, and here's a comment from my Shaye watching friend, the late Steve Grooms. Kept watching and sending me links to the end.
What else can one say--I mean, TAP--to this excellence but a resounding "WHOO-HOOOOOOOOO!!!!!" ?????😃👏🏿💓🎶😁 Thanks for posting, James. Thanks, Tuba Skinny, for being the BEST. EVER*EVER*EVER!!! As always... 😘🎶🎶🎶🎶
While I can't prove it, this version of "Gimme Some" has Shaye demonstrating a new level of fluency with her instrument. Never a weak player, she is becoming awesome.
Agreed Steve. As many times as they have played it, they always seem to come up with a fresh take. You can compare Shaye's playing on this version to the previous one I posted to see what I mean: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ul-e3o6z-ck.html&ab_channel=JamesSterling
@@JamesSterling I think you're right. Fans of the band often say they keep getting better. I wouldn't say that of the others, but Shaye's growth is a delight to trace.
@@helpstopanimalabuse8153 it helps me to compare and contrast Shaye's playing with that of Louie Armstrong. He plays like a man who wants to stand out, and given his personal history and status as a black man in a white world, that is totally understandable. He did, by God, stand out. Shaye plays like a woman who wants to blend in with her band's sound (hence the heavy and nuanced use of mutes). She plays one of the most strident instruments in the world of jazz, but she plays it as someone primarily concerned about the ensemble sound.
Y’all owe me a box of extra-strength Goody powders, ‘cause y’all keep makin’ me DANCE!!! & it HURTS. ‘Cause I’m 293 yrs OLD(small-dog yrs.). Goody’s needs to pay this superlative band millions in royalties w/health-insurance included, for all the $$$ y’all have made me pay ‘em for boogie-pain relief-‘cause I’m not EVER gonna stop dancin’ to your music. EVER.💃🏽 (Also: OOOOOoooow.🙀)The ChihuaRat who rules here has approved this message.🐶👀
Hi Everyone! This is a happy band! I would bet they spend more time with one another then they do with there own family! THIS IS THEIR FAMILY! This happiness extends to their fans, and makes them happy! Goofing off helps break the tension! Love this band! Their talent is boundless! Best Wishes, and GOD BLESS! Gary
Hah! I would if I could. Unfortunately I don't have any influence with the band to make that happen. I'm just an old dude with a cellphone camera standing in the audience.
Its aways fun to see the predictable reaction to the washboard solos. I think its cause its so physical, it's loud and cuts through, and I also wonder if the average person can relate cause they think they could possibly play that instrument?
Yes, I love Robin too, very much so! I find it kinda cute that he always humms during his solos. There are quite some jazz musicians who hummed while playing, Erroll Garner f.e.
Lionel, Robin said that Jason has completed his schooling to become a carpenter and his new occupation is taking more of his time. He will continue to play with the band when he is available but we will not be seeing as much of him in the future.
Too each his own. Many people like to see close ups of the musicians. By the way, this is the only video of the night where I zoomed in on the musicians so feel free to watch the others.
Difficile de filmer un concert et je trouve que James Sterling filme très bien pour avoir vu la plupart de ses vidéos et celles de Tuba Skinny en particulier! Merci et bravo à James!
@@pie9 Well said. A lot of viewers don't realize that I am just another member of the audience who pulls his cell phone from his pocket and stands where he can while shooting amateur videos. The band does allow me to place a separate audio recorder on the stage to try and capture better sound, but that is the only other equipment that I use.
