What Jaime had with Cersei was an addiction and toxic. What Jaime had with Brienne was selfless and pure. In the end he couldn't get free of his addiction but he got the privilege to be loved by the woman with the most beautiful heart. If Brienne at the end had the heart to forgive him - so should we.
They deserved better. The writers truly did them dirty. I’ll always remember Jaime as the man who knighted brienne and who was prepared to die fighting along side her. That’s my Jaime.
And after that, when writing about Jaime in the book, this woman who truly loved him, vindicated Ser Jaime before history, as an honorable and brave man. That's a true and unconditional love
Almost half a million people think so too. Why not sign the petition to change it? www.change.org/p/hbo-remake-game-of-thrones-season-8-with-competent-writers
Probably my favourite couple of all time.. they just make me weak in the knees. A beautiful relationship. And Jaime is one of my top 3 characters of all time anyway. 💕💕💕
Jaime was the living example of, hating where you are, haunted by where you've been,,,AND NOT KNOWING WHAT THE HELL ELSE TO GO, BUT TO THE COMFORT OF THE HELL YOU CALL HOME, BECAUSE A PAINFUL EXCRUCIATING PAST IS SAFER THAN A FUTURE UNKNOWN.
This couple is my favorite because they put each other up, inspire each other to be a better person. They don't make compromises or settle for scraps. They have unwavering faith in each other.
Oh WOW. That's a _fantastic_ quote to put at the end! I almost forgot, and I truly think this is why Jaime is going back. Because he _does_ regret his role in spreading what Cersei has done. He knows he's a huge part of why Cersei is so strong now. Why she got rid of the Reach, why she was able to even fund the golden company and have the army she does. Olenna's words are probably in his head right now about how Cerse is a disease, and he'll regret his role in spreading what she's brought to them. He knows now that Cersei has taken down another dragon and has hurt Dany's troops and killed her friend, that she's really dominating the war and he needs to find a way to stop her. That's why he's leaving Brienne. Hearing what Cersei has done? He can no longer ignore it. He was content to sit back when he thought Cersei was going to lose, but when he heard she got the upper hand? He realized he had to act. He played a part in this destruction and that's why he's telling Brienne all the bad things he's done. He doesn't believe he deserves the happy ending with her, because it's partly thanks to him that Cersei is reaving all this destruction.
Garden Rose i really like your comment and wish it was true but after the last episode and jaime and cersei reunion I felt so betrayed by the writers and how they ruined Jaime’s character development:/
Am I the only one who DIDN'T want to see Jaime strangle his sister?? Don't get me wrong, I ship him with Brienne, a LOT, but. I also think I'm in the minority of thinking that Jaime's story all along wasn't one of redemption or progress, but more one of ongoing internal conflict ("They make you swear and swear [...] It's too much. You're always breaking one oath or another"). He wanted to be the person he felt like with Brienne/the person Brienne showed him he could be (someone like Brienne), but he still felt trapped in the role(s) he'd been born into. It's a tragedy, but I've started to kind of like it on tragic terms, somewhere in the last couple weeks. (I am sympathetic to everyone just mourning and raging though--I did feel betrayed and frustrated by the turn in episode 4 and I still think it was badly written.)
stephantom no him going down with his sister made sense. He was damaged, broken.... by his father and sister.... it is just the way they did it. I knew he would die, but it was so.... thoughtless. He has been one of my favorites long before the show...
The prophecy was never part of the show, ever. They purposely left it out of the cersi witch flashbacks. His arc wasn’t ruined. He was the same man throughout the show. He isn’t good or bad. He’s complicated. He relapsed several times during the series, as he did in episode 5. He was always going to be with cersi.
I teared up as soon as I saw the title because I KNEW the song and I LOVE this song. You've captured their journey perfectly. I love them so much. I only wish TPTB had taken the opportunity to include a proper body-positive sex scene between a tall girl and an amputee guy. Representation, damnit!
oh my gosh I know this is late, but I'm an amputee myself & I so agree! I can say from experience that it's so nerve wracking feeling like you're not attractive due to your disability. personally I can do without all the nudity BUT I would've loved for the writers to lean into the intimacy of their scene & how Jaime felt insecure about his arm & Brienne about her whole body. having some buildup where they would be nervous but reassuring each other 🥺 I didn't need to see more sex, just more intimacy...especially after six years of build up in their friendship & feelings
Currently hating on episode 5 because it broke all my love for Jaime who was my favorite character and forced me to hide my emotions for intricate pairing slaughtered in a matter of minutes behind self-deprecating humor 🤗 [Edit] okay so that last "stay" high key made me tear up, bravo
His love for Cersie and Brienne are such different types of love. His character was so conflicted, and because of that, inspiring. Whether he was selfish or sympathetic, he died fighting TRUE to his own feelings... Respect.
the same song was used for capturing the story between katherine and count almasy from english patient. who would have thought in season 2 that 7 years later jaime and brienne will reach this point? their story is the most articulated one in the entire serie. even it is got you just can't help to hope for a good end for these two.
I'm crying.....I can't accept that he will die with Cersei....I just can't....Why did the writers do this to us? 😭😭 I love your video! It gave me peace. I'll hang onto these videos and I'll know they were canon, they were real. Jaime Lannister loves Brienne of Tarth and she loves him back. That's it! ❤️❤️
I really don't know why D&D gave us this pairing if all Jaime's character development was just going to be thrown in the trash in the end. So many things happened in ep 5 that just make me ask "What was the point of this? What was the point of that?" What was the bloody point of any of it if he was always going to go back to Cersei? Ugh. So disappointed. I'll just have to turn to fanfiction and fan-editing yet again for the result the characters deserved.
EmLee Gee i’m absolutely agree with you, what was the point to develop their love if Jaime would thow everything to garbage at the end? They deserved a better end of their history. I would have preferred that she or he had died in the arms of the other in the winterfell battle. It would have been an honorable ending fot them
Butthe thing is, he felt unworthy.... he felt that he was “hateful” he loved his sister all life, and he knew it was wrong. He felt that he deserved to die.. he never felt worthy of Brienne.
@@petramccafferty5902 Exactly, character development would've been him getting beyond that and realizing he deserved better than Cersei - who only ever manipulated him. Character development would've been him killing Cersei, even if he himself died in the process. Character development would've been him going from Kingslayer to Queenslayer.
EmLee Gee yes... that is what I am hoping for in the books.... it was a terrible ending. I thought he would end her and himself.... not rubble falling on there heads. It was a shitty end for Her to...
Well that was beautiful. I stopped watching GOT seriously after season 4, but always sort of followed the story. Like so many authors have said before, stories have a life of their own, and sometimes characters stop following the commands or the plans the author set. Those are the greatest characters and the greatest stories, and because they are true to themselves, they make perfect sense, may the end be happy or sad. Jaime and Brienne evolved and that can't just be erased with a U turn so poorly shown that it feels like a whim. It's simply not what the characters became. He wanted to save his sister, fair enough. But he didn't love Brienne less for it. The characters, and actors, did the right storytelling.
He never really loved Cersei. Not like you love in the *real* of things. He loved her because she was "there", and he really never knew anything else. But his love for Brienne? That was from an authentic place. D and D screwed us *SO* badly with the ending of their arc.
I would have been much happier if Jamie had died in the battle of winter field in briene’s arms and still had Briene write down Jamie’s great deeds in the end. That would have made much more sense for his entire arc. But nooo!!! Have him run back to his sister. 🤦🏻♀️ But this is a beautiful tribute to one of my favourite couples. Thank you for reminding me of their great moments together.
I agree. All though, I would have preferred him alive in the end. But no. Let's just kill every character who tried to become better people, because it's impossible to put the past behind, learn from your mistakes and lead a better life. If you do then you have to die...
Omg i LOVE this video. So beautifully done. But I'm crying at how unfair their story was written from ep 4. Their story arc was a beautiful thing seperately and together and just to have it potentially trashed in these last 2 eps is heartbreaking 😭😭❤
Ugh the way you followed Brienne's, "You're not like your sister.." with Olenna's, "she's a disease.." line. Impeccable..i cried from that point to the end..
You captured their tangled, complex journey beautifully! It was full of equal parts love and longing, mirth and sadness. Ugh, these two idiots kill me.
jaimie lannister is the best of transformation of all, epic story, he became man of of honor...he had to go back and die with his sister., but he had known true love ...but sometimes love is not enough.
I see ya’ll I tend to break my heart all over again with these wonderful video tributes. LOVE this! As soon as I saw the title of the song, I knew I’d get emotional, such a beautiful song. Well done!
I watch this halfway and immediately added it to my favourite collection and liked it! THIS IS SO AMAZINGGGG AND ORIGINAL AND BEAUTIFUL THANK YOU FOR EDITINGGGGGG AND SHARING WITH US
So, I don't get upset at many videos one here, but this one is just beautiful & one of my favourite pieces of music too. If only this weren't GoT, this might have had a chance at a happier end. 💔😢
S3: if your precious renly told you to Stand by while thousand of men burned alive would you have done it? S8: to be honest i never really cared much for innocent People in kings landing *look how they massacred my boy*
They really should’ve had Jaime die a hero “in the arms of the woman [he] loves” (with Brienne by his side) perhaps during the Battle for Winterfell or at King’s Landing. In addition Arya could’ve used his face while assassinating Cersei thus fulfilling the valonquar thing
This is a masterpiece. One of the most beautiful edits I've ever seen of one of the most beautiful ships (if not the one) that ever existed on TV. Thank you for this. I just wish the ending was different but I guess that's not you I need to blame for that... I'm still pissed.
