I´ll never forget the day Shangri La album was released. I bought the record on the very next day! ... I came home, put the record on, and I fell in love with Simple Pleasures immediately. I´m practically fan of Jake´s music from the very beginning, because Seen it all and Broken were the first songs I heard. Not long after they came out! Summer 2013 was magical, mainly because of this young man, who proved true music is still alive!
I was sixteen when i heard jake's music first time and i fell in love. When i am listening simple pleasure or another songs from shangri la now I see me when I was teenager and remember first loves, friends and school time ❤️
Hes one of the most talented artists of his generation and u can never tire of watching this clip. A dedicated and intelligent guy to his craft. Humble with a subtle charisma. Jake is the kind of guy who has all the true attributes and talent to inspire and steer teenagers of the 2020's down the right path... world over. He may very well go down as one of the greatest musicians and song writers of all time eventually.
I like the term "subtle charisma". He is authentic, that's what makes him and his music so appealing. 💙 Besides the fact that he is just the full package musically. Outstanding
This young man should be one of the "greats", I was brought up on Bob Dylan and the Beatles, Jake surpasses Dylan in my estimation, he injects sadness and true pathos into his music, and very intelligent words. All the best Jake, you are truly unique.
He’s not up there with the greats, no doubt he’s a brilliant singer and guitar player but he didn’t write his first 2 albums and then every album he wrote afterwards has been horrendously bad
Simple Pleasures is such a fan favorite, yet a hidden gem. Should be played at all of his shows so everyone could have the ~pleasure~ of hearing this masterpiece live.
Thanks for making this song Jake. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve felt lost in the world then listened to this for some relief. You got me into playing guitar in 2013. Proud of you bro!
You've been huntin' round for treasure Find it all in the simple pleasures I don't understand this life you lead Tryna be somebody else and Tryna be the one's who help Wanna find the one who helps you breathe Maybe it's all a big mistake And you live on all you take From the lives that have always been close I've been roaming around for hours Singing all your songs of praise How on earth can I complain How in hell can I be safe From this sudden fear of change This sudden fear is strange Tryna understand your ways You hide them with convulsive rage You tried to be the best you could be People finding the most pleasure All within the smallest treasures This don't seem possible to me And maybe it's all that you've done wrong So just bite your silver tongue That you lied with, lied to yourself I've been roaming around for hours Singing all your songs of praise How on earth can I complain How in hell can I be safe From this sudden fear of change This sudden fear is strange You've been huntin' round for treasure Find it all in the simple pleasures I don't understand this life you lead Maybe it's all a big mistake And you live on all you take From the lives that have always been close I've been roaming around for hours Singing all your songs while Standing at the edge about to fall Faces crushed against the wall The sudden fear of singing all your songs of Staring into space I hear the sound From a voice that's never found The sudden fear is strange But maybe it's all a big mistake And you live on all you take From the lives that have always been close I've been roaming around for hours Singing all your songs of praise How on earth can I complain How in hell can I be safe This sudden fear is strange This sudden fear of change
Matt Sweeney co wrote this song with Jake when he made his second album Shangri-la. That's when they met. Played with Jake's band a few times at festivals and here at the Albert Hall.
