Boston Bruins forward Jake DeBrusk scores his first NHL goal in his first NHL game and his father, Sportsnet's Louie DeBrusk, can't hold back the emotions while watching in the stands.
lol i totally did! it looks like Phil Collins from Trailer Park Boys but I think it's Louis' dad. Peanut butter and JAAAAAMMMMMM!!!! lol. the woman on the other side of jake's mom is her mom. the whole fam's there
I love that....as the father of an upper level hockey player, i know what it is like to be in hockey rinks almost non-stop from the time your kid is 4 years old, to watching them advance to the level of college hockey - much less pro hockey - and think of the thousands of hours of work that went into getting to that point.
Man that's so cool! My son plays minor hockey and I get chocked up when he scores , it's such a amazing game. Love to all the hockey parents and all our little hockey heroes!
The flashback of him skating for the first time ran through his head. I too got emotional when my son scored his first goal...he was 10 at the time. Lol :))
As the father of a really good hockey player - he will never make it to the pro's - i cannot begin to express what it feels like everytime your kid gets moved up to the next level and then shines. Started out at age 4.....14 years later he was captain of his high school varsity hockey team this year, and made the state all star team this year. Can't begin to count the number of hours i spent with him in hockey rinks all around New England in the last 14 years, in so many tournaments on travel teams. Now he is off to play division 3 college hockey...won't make it to the Bruins, but that kid made me the happiest dad in the world as i watched him grow and work so hard at this game...every time he scored a goal he would skate over to where i was sitting and point at me...made me cry. Cannot begin to imagine the pride DeBrusk's dad felt when Jake scored his first goal as a Bruin...unimaginable.
Look at Krejci, he will always be regarded as some of my favorite players for his playmaking ability, and his class. First thing he does is goes over to the goal to retrieve Jake’s first goal in the league👏
Damn, in that one goal I bet he saw all those long drives, the practices, the games, and him growing up into a man. To hear that goal horn and the goal song was probably straight chills to his core... I love seeing this type of stuff!!
I can so relate to his father....my 15 year old has been playing hockey since 4 years old and i get the same way if he scores a goal for his current high school team....just thinking about all the years we spent in hockey rinks to get to this point. Can't imagine the time and money his dad spent with Jake that ended up with him being such a good player he lands in the NHL and now...his first goal. Wow.
Gretzky once joked that he realized that it was time to end his career when he first time saw Chara on ice. Over time, I understand that it was half joke..
All those travel games, late night talks, and motivational phone calls came flashing back to him after that goal was scored.. i hope i get lucky enough to give my dad the same joy
Much love, Dad is proud of his son, that's a beautiful thing. I'd cry to watching my song score he's 1st in every of the 4 major sports, except basketball, can't take that sport.
*FUN FACT:* Louie DeBrusk (along with Bernie Nichols and Steven Rice) was traded from the New York Rangers to the Edmonton Oilers in 1991 for Mark Messier, who Captained the Rangers to the Stanley Cup in 1994.
Dad's proudest moment, seeing his son achieved his goal… from the time he was driving his son to the rinks and all sacrifices they did just to fulfill his son's dreams. His tears says it all ! Who's that guy in a short ? ( Dad's left hand side or seated next to him ) I hope that's not his Grandpa, he looks like he just came out from the Bathroom. Sisters are so pretty.
Beautiful family. Congratulations young buck, not many rookies score in their first game. Hall of Fame should be your target but have fun while you’re getting there.
