Seemed like he also had to talk a Canadien down, im sure Ehler has their respect. I have a joke but won't tell it until the injury scope is revealed. Edit: full joke is cancelled as i already forgot it (this injury really shouldn't be joked about) It involved Edmontons defense
Look the NHL just for their egos they'll give 1 game to shieffele and the Habs will kill him and then the Habs will get 100 games cuz it was "premeditated ". Pro tip to the NHL: IF YOU DID YOUR JOB NONE OF THIS WOULD HAPPEN.
@@-gumby-3381 they won't kill him till next season. They will beat the hell out of him for daring to touch the puck if the league lets him back in this series tho.
Update: Evans is released from the hospital and back with his team at the hotel. As a Jets fan I’m honestly at a loss for how to react. Schief is a clean player since I started watching the Jets back when they came back, but this hit is definitely something he has to take responsibility for whatever form that takes. Ending on positive news is that Evans was being tested at the MTS Center, which means he wasn’t rushed to the hospital and I am glad because that is a very positive sign for him and his recovery/future.
@@MetalCharlo Oh fuck no. No clean series aymore. We go for their fucking head and make sure they fucking never do that again. As far as Shit-Filet is concerned, he never played the puck, this wasn't a defensive play. If he put another fucking skate on the ice in his LIFE against the Habs he deserve to have his career ended on this ice
@@bigbrotherlop87 that’s extreme. It’s a bad hit. Nobody deserves to have their career ended on the ice, and you really need to look at yourself for even going that far, bud.
@@bigbrotherlop87 no point in having senseless violence and head hunting out there. Next time he steps on the ice the habs will let him know that he can you’ll that shit again and that’ll be hopefully the end of it. I expect the habs to take some sort of revenge for that but I never wanna see someone like sheifele not be able to play again in retaliation for that hit on evans.
well checking someone is trying to prevent it but yea couldve tried to poke check instead, and im sure Scheifele is gonna argue that.if that argument holds up its just the charging. unless they somehow call elbowing on that and if being off the ice AFTER this hit is bad which i thought it was BEFORE the hit was the bad thing. in all honestly it just looked like Scheifele was trying to body Evans like General Zod ffs so hopefully, even with the arguments that can be made Scheifele still gets suspended e: grammer checks, im bad english
@@ehzoue there's a video on Twitter showing him already engage the charge from the Habs net onwards, nearly 200 feet. That was full on "Zod stride trying to blow up a pulled goalie". Never once wanted to play the puck.
Even if he did prevent the goal, they still lose... That's pure chicken shit "canadian" hockey. Exactly the kind of genius skill it takes to "Bobby Clarke" a russian ankle, lol!
i called that trying to prevent a goal and unfortunately one of them player involved got his head down for about 2 sec.Another player was incoming at fast speed trying to prevent that other player to make it in front of the net....a matter of fraction of second are involved in this play and it is unfortunate for Evans but in no way their was intent to injures or frustration.Just the desire to win and do your job.Rookie mistake tall train incoming.
@@mikescorpio13 prevent a goal? Lolll If Scheifele had push one more skate and extend his stick, he could play the puck and prevent the goal. That's not what happened here. If you slow down the video, you see him stop skating for 2 frame, bring his stick (arm) close to his body because he prepare his shoulder to hit Evans. I'm playing hockey since more than 20yrs and trust me, the "good" way to play that puck should be to skate 1 more second and use full length of your stick & arm to play the puck then push Evans body out of reach of the puck. Btw, I'm not trying to be toxic; saying that your analysis is not good or that you are stupid. Just saying that when you see the hit on a "hockey player" POV, you know that he didnt intended to play the puck or avoid the goal! Also, it's not because Scheifele was that "late" or disent have the speed or the talent to avoid the goal... HE DECIDED to hit, and he hitted to injure Evans.
@@LTJ4CK he stopped skating so he wouldn’t get a change……. Looks like the refs decided it was a charge anyway even tho he wasn’t skating just like you said. His intent was to hit him AND stop the goal. The guy had his head down and wasn’t ready, that’s his fault. Rule number one that you are taught in hockey is keep your head up so when someone actually does hit you, you can see it coming.
Last time I saw a moment like this was Nathan Horton getting hurt back in 2011. This is one of those moments where you realize a team is about to enter god mode.
Like it’s a known fact the NHL is the most lax in drug testing. They truly only care about steroids, and do not suspend players for “rec” positives. I mean, if u make an ass out of yourself at the border with an 8ball in your pocket, then ya, your suspended
What’s ironic is that scheiffelie was probably mad because they were losing and there was nothing he could do. But if he had gone for intercepting evans’ shot he would have saved it and actually maintain the 4:3 for another 59 seconds
I agree he was mad because of losing. I disagree there was nothing he could do. He could extend arm and stick to play the puck and avoid a 2 goal lead for Montréal or even avoid the goal and throw back the puck to his teammates and try to tie the game
@@LTJ4CK yeah that’s what I’m saying starting at “but” in my second sentence. When I say there was nothing he could do I meant in the entirety of the game where you can’t win alone
@@Mr-Major it’s definitely a charge, and he left his feet, but idk that it was a hit to the head from the two angles we got of it. The head eventually made contact with the shoulder, but it looks like it was after it whipped forward. Bad hit, and not ok at all, but idk about the head being principle point of contact.
@@dps0610 If you play it in slow motion, you will notice Shiefle’s shoulder make DIRECT contact with Evans’ head. There is an upwards motion. Extremely illegal & dangerous dirty hit. Get your eyes checked if you need like I said.
All you scrubs saying this isn't charging need to read the rules again. The "gliding" or skates leaving the ice thing is irrelevant, that hasn't been part of the rule for at least 10-12 years now. Here's what charging is : "Rule 42 of the NHL rulebook dictates that charging "shall mean the actions of a player or goalkeeper who, as a result of distance traveled, shall violently check an opponent in any manner." So yes, this hit was charging, literally.
Scheifele came out for the third period looking like he bumped 8 lines of coke in the dressing room. They got under his skin and he got frustrated, he was looking for an opportunity all period. This was 100% him venting his anger in the dumbest way possible, clearly an intent to injure on the play
I thought it was a clean hit, until I realized he slowed down to line it up, and evans wouldn’t have flipped like that if the hit wasn’t high. Sheifele’s namebar was lined up with Evans’ face.
He also never tried to stop the goal even when he had a ton of chances to do so.He went for the hit and aim the motion upward. If he's not suspended, game #2 will be ugly to see
The reasonable play there is to try to extend your arm/stick to get in-between the puck and the goal line. He doesn't do that. It looks like he don't even care to prevent a goal, but just wants to level the guy.
@@redwarrior2342 Because it was fair and square. It wasn't late and if he's 0.3 seconds earlier he stops a goal. Elbow hits him in chest and never contacts the head. Leaves feet only after contact and glides into him. By definition that's a textbook hit. Scheifele could not have stopped or even realized he was going to be late in that short amount of time.
Zero intent to stop the goal. So essentially that is a grown ass man coming in as a human torpedo, with the opposing player as his target. How is Parros gonna screw this one?
You realize if he was half a second earlier with his check, it would of absolutely stopped the goal from being scored. Y’all watch this shit in slomo replay and make shit up. 100 percent intent to stop the goal. Almost a hell of a hustle play as well seeing as he skated 200 feet in just seconds.
@@dragroch5536 Yes, if you want to stop someone from shooting, your stick will always get there before your body. Scheifele's a professional hockey player, he knows this. He even had his stick quite close to the puck but pulled it away to deliver the hit. Hell, he could've tried to get the puck/stick AND deliver the hit but all he wanted was to crush Evans.
An extremely stupid and unnecessary hit. He just placed his team in a very tough situation with a four game suspension;. Bonehead hit. He could have tried to stop the puck from going into the net but his mind was made up to make the hit.
@Caleb Hofer exactly there was no head contact that is a clean hit if that's illegal then tom wilson Brad Marchand and Dustin byfuglien should have been suspended every second game cause they lay those hits ever6game just in the middle of the ice
He got 5 minute major for charging. He'll probably get 2-4 games if the league does its job for once. He never intended on playing the puck and skated all the way down the entire length of the ice with the sole intent of delivering the hit.
@@og2tone9o15 No because he got a charging penalty. Read what charging is and look at the clip. Please. He pretty clearly violated the charging rule. You're not allowed to skate that far to make a hit, you need to make a play on the puck.
@@zip5644 he stopped skating and glided before the hit ,if he didn't leave his feet there would of been no penalty, im allowed to hit you if your trying to score
@@og2tone9o15 Did you read the definition of charging? It really doesn't matter if he stopped striding at the circle, he still made 15 strides to gain tons of momentum while barreling down the ice. Read the definition of charging and it might make sense. I've been a ref for nearly a decade now.
@@zip5644 tru I get what your saying now but I'm allowed to have no intent on playing the puck as long as my hit was clean, if schiffle started gliding from the blue line it would of been a clean hit dont you think ?
Damn Johnny I'm so happy that you've been uploading everyday. You're finally starting to gain subscribers and tons of views that you deserve. I'm siked!
Being a leafs fan, I want to say “that’s how it feels”. But come on, Perry’s knee was accidental. You could tell this hit was not. Best wishes to evans
@King Milo2772 Every teams fans know how it feels to lose a player to head injury. Leafs weren't the first. But as you said, the situations are entirely different.
He could have easily tried to stick check him if he wanted to prevent the goal because it’s useless to take the body when the puck is halfway in the net. He wanted to release his frustration and he did. First of all he jumped (charging), took like 5 strides (charging) and the initial point of contact WAS the head (also charging). Suspension 100%.
Are you blind he glided into him from the hash marks. He didn't leave his feet on initial contact his feet came up after he was halfway through him. It wasn't a hit to the head his shoulder hit him in the chest. Definitely whiplash that snapped his back from the impact of the hit. Completely unnecessary hit I agree with on that but that's about it
1: he didn't jump, when you hit someone hard like that your feet will naturally leave the ice because of the sheer force. 2: he didn't take any strides, if you watch he was coasting from at least the hash marks so that's fine. And 3: yes the initial point of contact was the head but that's a head shot penalty, NOT CHARGING. This will probably be a suspension but dude come on what are you saying.
@@mcopp46 Do you know how backlash work? You don't seem to I'm guessing, his head went straight back, if the contact was only on the chest his head would have come forwards then back, but it went directly back. It's 100% a hit to the head
How I see it is Schieffle made no effort to go for the puck, no reach no nothing. He is 100% fixated on going for Evans even so much as to leave his feet and strike the head. He was thinking hit the whole way. Even if you see where they meet in normal speed the puck is basically in the net. Schieffle had a chip on his shoulder all game.
@@Dark-dn6gq if you actually carefully watch it frame by frame you can see the momentum carried by Schieffle his name on the jersey is above Evans head. His trajectory is going up. He's pushing up not forward. Was there body yes, but he got his head too
There was not head contact that hit in the middle of the ice sheif is cheered for that hit also how was he supposed to stop and it's not as bad as HIS LEG BEING FUCKING INTENTIONALLY BEING SLICED OPEN MATHEW TKACHUK
Why? So the circumstance of being down 1 with an empty net made it dirty??? So if it’s a tie game with a goalie, it’s clean? Bs lol. Clean hit. Explain why it’s dirty or unnecessary🙃
@@MikeSmith-sb2oj 100% true. He backchecked hard, stop skating on top on of the face off circle and chose to play the body over the puck. Probably half a second faster he would’ve stopped a goal.
@@MikeSmith-sb2oj Dude, Scheifele has been head hunting all night, this was not his first attempt. Watch the replay. Nowhere does it show he's attempting to save a goal. He's charging hard from center ice down to his own end knowing Evans would go for a wrap around. The puck was already in the net before the contact was made. I don't care if it was clean. The intent to injure was there and the hit was completely unnecessary when the play was dead.
Bro, Scheifele could play the puck instead of the body. That could be a start. Scheif was dirty af on this one, he knows Evans is vulnerable and is full speed. He literaly stop skating cause he want Evans to reach out for the goal and be vulnerable. Scheifele seems on Crack or something last night god damn.
@@ThunderTurkey100 I guess im not the only one who thinks that since the league suspended him 4 games. All game he was frustating and at the end he saw the perfect opportunity to let go his anger on Evans.
@U Betcha seriously? They’re was 50 seconds left in the game and they already lost then blind sides dude. Shit like that is uncalled for and + they’re professionals
As a Jets fan, it's a charge and likely worthy of a one game sussy, but it wasn't an elbow, it wasn't interference, and it may have been shoulder to shoulder. I hope Evans is okay, but this isn't a crazy dirty hit.
@Anonymous with all due respect, Evans is an NHL player. He's wheeling around the net with his head down, he absolutely should have had his head up and put some effort into protecting himself. He was only defenceless because he was puck watching.
There was a camera tracking Scheifele down the ice. He skated 200 feet all the way from the other end of the rink with only secondary thoughts of stopping that puck, he just wanted to nail Evans. Big time charging call.
Looking at it, the inital contact is fine, it's the drive THROUGH that warrants something. Also add in the fact that he's clearly a target, I'd say 4 games.
Scheifele could have prevented Evans from scoring, but that's not what he wanted! Scheifele did exactly what he wanted to do! I hope he doesn't get suspended and we get to deal with him the good old fashion way! Man, hockey has changed so much!
Yeah he could've prevented the goal if he took one more stride, and your right hockey has changed a lot, you can't hit a single person without a line brawl and suspensions.
@@drsch Charging, intent to injure just to name the obvious. Not to mention they should probs keep him out so Montreal doesn't try to take matters into their own hands.
@@ryandeshazo He didn't charge, he body checked a guy when he was back skating to stop an open net goal. Intent to injure is pure speculation and considering the open net and the fact he got there at the same time the wrap around was happening is highly unlikely.
Selfish hit meant to injure , he jumped and never tried to play the puck . Its selfish as he only thought of his self gratitude and did not put his team first ! He better hope Parros is not too hard on him. They should test this guy, did you look at his eyes he looks all doped up !
@Wild Card Nation Well it proves players can die from hits. And the Masterton hit was clean and legal, but the way he landed. Evans landed awkwardly due to a dirty hit, and was mere centimetres away from a spinal injury.
@@Dane233 I’ll take 18 keyboard GM’s words over 1 keyboard GM thanks Dude supposedly has high hockey iq, he knew what he was doing and he was mad he lost.
He's hustling back along with Pionk I don't think he's lining him up until the circles when he stops strides. It's a really odd play and there aren't really any other examples to go from, but it is charging nonetheless and probably a couple games suspension
@@watvat8 Am I supposed to argue with you or what. I'm just confused because you sound dumb? Watch the video they're rushing in and slow down about the circles, then when Mark get's to the center dot area he goes for the hit.
He targeted Evans from 20 feet away and didn't even make a play on the puck to try to stop an empty-net goal and he easily could have done so keeping it a one-goal game with an outside chance to tie the game. Suspension.
When did he leave his feet? He left after the hit meaning it was clean in that aspect wasn't a charge clean there and Evans head was down and his shoulder and arms were hit before head
@@simoncohen4264 that’s what I’m saying he glided in, made the hit with 2 feet on the ground. I’m not gonna lie it was a unnecessary hit bc he could’ve played the puck
It really sucks that he's hurt and obviously I hope he ok and recovers soon and not a smart play and unnecessary overall but other than the speed he was going it was a clean hit
The more I watch the replay of the hit, the less convinced I am on the hit being hit to the head. It looks more like a shoulder to chest that follows thru the head, like there's no elbow that gets thru, at least not definitively that I can see
@Brane Storm your right I agree, I think I was speaking out of anger, & yes this hit was charging give him a few games for it not to mention he will have to pay for it, I like that hockey dose police itself but I will say it was a good hit dispite that it was vicious
