Guys, one of the best Niners kickers ever, Ray Wershing also missed FGs in the regular season when he was a rookie with us (lost a game for us too) when we went on our SB runs. Give the rookie a break, let him learn from his mistakes and he'll grow. The whole team needs to grow. I can't believe people expected us to go undefeated. That's almost impossible in the modern NFl with the brutal schedule and the addtional game. It's 1 game on to the next one.
Poor dude going to feel this for a bit. Just knowing making that kick would have still had them undefeated. I think Robbie would have nailed that kick, but hopefully this helps this kid grow and he gets better. On to next week!!
Why Kyle didn't try to move the ball closer and make the attempt more manageable is beyond me?!?!?! He had plenty of clock left and a timeout. A 41-yard attempt should have been 30-plus yard or closer. At least take a couple of shots in the end zone and maybe draw a PI on the defense. They were backpedaling.
Shannahan, should have went for the TD, Cleveland was reeling after Aiuk split the middle for 23 yards. He continues to show his weakness as a big time play caller. This rookie Moody is not ready, go sign Robbie Gould.
Purdy looked awful today. He could have been picked 3 or 4 times and was out played by a practice squad QB. Shannihan, is the biggest problem, calling plays that allowed Cleveland to keep the game close. The OL was atrocious and the kicker Moody, is not ready for the big time.
No he didn't. His job was to play well for the entire game, not just one or two series. I love Purdy but he played worse than a 3rd string QB today. A few good passes to Aiyuk does not make up for his.bad performance. If Purdy and Niner offense in general had been decent they wouldn't have to rely on Moody to win the game. Their entire offense failed and all the credit has to be given to Browns defense. I'm a Niner fan who calls it like it is.
Felt like depending on a rookie kicker was gonna be a huge liability. Edit: Edit just to put out some positivity, I hope bro is getting the misses out early. He can either bounce back or fold, I hope bro has the heart not to fold.
Gold missed a 41-yard her indoors last year to win the game at the raiders he also missed a field goal to win the game against the Bungles the year before
Hey Moody, it’s alright. You’re young, and if you had to give up a game winner, at least it’s early in the season with your team at 5-1. Just learn from it and grow, which I’m sure you were gonna do anyway. We’ll see you next week, where I’m sure you’ll be great!
Happens, man. Our O was very unproductive today. Moody should never have been put in this position in the first place. The real issue is how poorly we performed today on offense, as a team.
He has to be put in this situation cause every game isn’t gonna be a cakewalk.. especially in the playoffs we’re going to need to win ugly games like this…
Well every one has to be accountable no ones perfect if offence struggles defence picks them up vice versa and special teams as well. He knows he shouldve had that itll go down to the wire and thats what hes paid to do. Even though offence struggled they still did their job at the end to still give them a chance to win. Hopefully it doesnt happen when it really counts.
What sucks is some people are trying to put this on him. Yeah he did miss 2 today but if the whole team would have played better than he wouldn't have even been in this situation. It was just a bad day all around and that's gonna happen sooner or later. I'd rather it be today than in January. On to next week.
Let's be real. They played horrible. The OL a was bad, we couldn't run., they were all over Purdy, who also sucked. They ran all day long on us. At least the Eagles lost too.
@@stevenmeyer9674 The only thing I would blame on purdy was losing the Football in wet conditions. He got rushed on nearly every play. The Browns D is just top tier.
I wish reporters would ask interesting technical questions about his technique and how he prepares for new stadiums, weather conditions, etc. Fans can learn more about kickers and kicking.
Shake it off kid, you'll win some in future. Weird vibe of a game all the way around. Take the L ..stops all the undefeated chatter. Come back next week and kick ass
Moodys a great kicker, still learning. I wish people would stop trash talking him. He's got the support of his team mates....should also from Niner fans.
@placeholdermcgavinport5343 , ok, he's got great potential. Definitely needs more experience out there, especially dealing with game changing moments like that.
The thing they concerns me is that this is clearly a mental thing, not a physical thing. A 41-yard FG is barely more than a chip shot in the modern NFL. Hopefully he gets over this. I’ve seen many kickers unravel after a big kick that they missed.
Bruh every kicker misses kicks and game winning kicks. College also has way more pressure then the NFL could ever hold a candle to depending on the college so that's a dumb as fuck statement as well.
I saw someone say it’s just one game! This kick in ONE GAME has led to a three game losing streak! The small things matter like being a kicker and kicking the damn ball between the posts from 40 yards Moody!
It was just one of those days all the way around. Weather didn't help us, refs definitely didn't help us, Purdy didn't have a great game, Aiyuk was plagued with butterfingers, Ray Ray looked confused AF, Trent injured, Deebo out, CMC out , Moody missed that clutch FG. There's plenty of blame to go around. Time to dust ourselves off and move forward. GO NINERS !
the difference is between a vet Robbie Gould who is more accurate and experienced Against the Wind and all-weather barrier..... and the rookie Jake Moody who doesn't have the NFL experience Against the Wind and all-weather..... I'll take my chances with the vet Robbie Gould who is more accurate
So we built this juggernaut team just to not resign robbie gould who’s accuracy is impeccable, has plenty of experience in hight stakes field goals, and you hire a rookie field goal kicker🤣 because we all know that no game’s especially in the playoffs ever come down to field goals and the pressure that comes with it😆 I hope robbie is laughing, huge mistake.
@@kurtthecat3995Eagles lost and has 4 turnovers, 3 picks. They’re schedule gets tougher these next weeks and ours gets easier. We can move on and keep winning, stay healthy and prepare for us to face them
@@aust236 The problem is that the 49er's now have kicker that is not a sure thing. He can cost games. It's been awhile since the 49ers have been in a position where a kicker loses a game, but now it's a reality.
@@kurtthecat3995 Shoulda said that too, i think we give him the pass here, he’s a rookie it was raining bla bla. Horrendous miss but gould missed some too and he was a rookie once. If this happens again near playoff time, THEN we worry about getting another kicker
You are one of the best!!! Don't worry what the so called fans say today. They loved you for the last five games!!! And when you make that big come back and you will !!! They will all love you again, and this is from a real fan!!
Spoke to an NFL kicker today and he says the first thing he questioned was Moodys cleats and were the spikes long enough because his left planting foot wasn’t stable in his kicks on that wet field…
I noticed on the first replay that his left foot (the plant foot) slipped, which prevented him from turning his body through the kick to impart the hook. A bad plant will lead to a push every time. Remember when Scott Norwood of missed to the right a 47-yarder that would have beaten the Giants in the 1990 Super Bowl? After the game the Giants coach Bill Parcells calmy observed that Norwood hadn't kicked one that distance on real grass all year.
@@alexlevine2522 the mechanics of a kick I was told could change based on so many factors when kicking outdoors. For example how they want the ball axis to be placed…also, the locking leg locked out almost like a golf club. My guy was surprised he couldn’t get it right since he kicked at Michigan.
We all knew they’re would be growing pains with the kid. Live and learn, key note Brock got them down there when it counted. Our offensive line got pushed around the whole game..
Its super tough being an NFL kicker. Everyone deserves a bad day but it is very important Moody makes his next big kicks because he is now under the microscope. I dont know why we didnt resign Robbie Gould cause he has been so clutch in the playoffs the oast few seasons it seems. I dont even think hes ever missed a FG in the playoffs. Plus we have all that cap space. Maybe we should of had two kickers on the team and let Gould mentor Moody a year or two. The kicker position is one where i would rather have a good veteran who has come through in the past compared to an unproven kicker. How crazy would it be if the 49ers lose the Superbowl or a playoff game all because a rookie kicker misses the kick. I hope it doesnt come down to that.
I'm sick of people saying the 9ers should have gotten closer for the field goal they were on the 24 yard line which makes it a 41 yard kick. You wanted a power kicker but yet 40 is to long? The damn irony of that. You always add/subtract 17 to get the yardage. If being on the fricken 24 yard line isn't good enough then you have the wrong kicker
Give the lad break, he's pissed off about missing it too. he needs support not ridicule. We all make mistakes, hopefully he'll get stronger after this.
I believe he wanted a pay raise. I'm sure the 49ers are looking back now and thinking a pay raise may have been a good idea especially if it means losing homefield advantage in the playoffs.
Niners had a T.O. with enough time to get a little closer. Was frustrating to watch them let the clock drain down like that without making an effort to get closer considering he missed earlier in the game. Such a stressful situation for a young kicker.
I don't like this guy's nonchalant attitude for a rookie..He blew it big time...There was no wind, no rain on that play and no excuses..Show a little humility...Own it..
Their center should have snapped the ball when Clev tried to ice Moody with a a time out. If he makes gives him more confidence. If he misses, he'd make adjustments.
Kyle was outcoached, sf feeling the Dallas game, timing hirrible, very predictable on both sides of the ball. On one hand, creative, open space strategy, spread it around many weapons. But once CMC, shows up, its all about him, everyone else diminished, their role reduced, their readiness affected.
I like this kid. It’s tough being an NFL kicker. For shorter field goals, I think he should learned to follow thru a kick rather than blasting it hard.
Questionable playcall , still plenty of time on the clock and should try for the kill on 3rd down or get another 5 yd or 8 yd with Mason or Mitchell or the Juice closer instead of 41 yd FG attempt It’s called PUSHING YOUR LUCK after he missed the 54 yarder earlier in the day Today is Upset day , no team is undefeated after Jet’s upset the Eagles at Met life stadium
I DO FEEL BAD FOR JAKE THAT HE MISS THE KICK TO WIN THE GAME, I KNOW HE FEEL LIKE SHIT, WE LOST THE DAMN GAME PART OF IT THE DAMN REF. MAKING TWO BAD CALL BACK TO BACK. GIVE THE BROWN THE POINT TO WIN THIS GAME. I'M SO PISS, GO NINNERS
