I’ve definitely seen this clip before but not for a long time and I quite often watch a random bit of the ‘This is my…’ playlist and I don’t remember ever seeing it in there.
4:59 "... and Jake was a wild boy... they really expected it from him." Jake's face had been stone till then. The slight smirk really made the segment if you notice it.
At this point I just believe every word out of James' mouth. Like if he said "I once skydived off a plane on the back of an alpaca wearing nothing but a little black dress" I'd be like, yep absolutely plausible, classic James haha. He could take over the world honestly and I would just nod and smile.
@@erinmaree1987 Those specials are okay but it's not enough and leaves us wanting more from them imo. I hope if they get her it'll be for the full season.
@@shmiqqy I can't speak for the audience but I found it contentious because the idea that Hitler was elected is a complete myth. He was appointed by the German elite, and then legitimised his rule with a fake vote held at gunpoint
I knew it was James when I noticed that the guy Jake smiled at one point even before James was about to say something funny about him, implying that he knew what James was going to say.
I understand what Fred Sirieix meant when he said that James and the mystery guest look alike. They appear to be around the same age which is what makes James' story even more plausible.
You'd also enjoy the episode when Mark Bonnar was on (I think there was Stephen Mangan too). He's also one of those people who couldn't stopped laughing.
@@chrisfearn4837 Not when replying to the comment talking specifically about one woman. It's obvious who they're talking about. "That woman is gorgeous too" would have been acceptable.
"Is that a room splitter? Oh no, we like Adolf Hitler!" "I'm just contemplating the rise of fascism" The teamwork reminds me of the imaginary game of ping pong. We can only imagine the conversations between them at the dinner table. I wonder if they team up against Rob
I think Rob stays polite in his role on tv but definitely dominates the conversation when in private. I think Lee is the one that gets "dissed" sometimes haha, in a friendly manner, by David and Rob. Given the vlogs and other shows/footage I've seen online.
Jake and James do look like your classic pupil of Bashing the Bishop Stortford school. (It's a Kettering thing) K and a E and a double T E and a R and a ING T and a O and a WN. KETTERING TOWN FC!!
I just realized after watching this for the umpteenth time that Jake reminds me of Robert Webb. Imagine him with blonde hair during the reveal, the way he talks and smiles and his body language.
It wasn't published at the same time the clip was uploaded. Probably restriction from the copyright owner of the show. It'll catch up with other view numbers of WILTY? Nope! Videos.
Were David's team not helped by the fact that every time James is on, the 'This is My' guest is connected to him? James' next appearance: This is Torquil, he's a volunteer firefighter who squirted a cabbage that this bratty kid I know sent to me in the post, because I told his girlfriend he wanted to break up with her.
When was the last time a team captain was the truth teller for the "This is my..." section. They must have long since run out of true stories so these days it's a 50-50 toss up betwen the two guests.
@@matthewrandell5055 I think it got revealed in one of the tasks on Taskmaster. But he said that to Neil, in their podcast, about his old habit in collecting numbers of people he just met (even those who only asked for autograph/selfie).
Interesting fact that I don't know if you've noticed.... James Acaster has never told a lie on on the show despite several appearances. Not one that's been broadcast anyway. Even in the round with the mystery person and 3 different stories, it has always been James's that is true.
I'm French but I don't know who is the French guest in Mitchell's team. Can someone tell me please? If only we had this kind of show on French television...
I suspected it was James' mate. Those details about the keyboard and jumping into the long jump pit naked are too reminiscent of my teen years to not have been true. Not that I ever did either of those things.
I don’t know if I want to finish this video. I want to live forever in the world with james’ ex band mate who jumped in ball pits and smashed up a keyboard in the wood
You have to give credit to the guests who can keep a straight during the stories. For me, the way Jake was breaking at 5:02 and beyond convinced me James was telling the truth. Those seemed like laughs of embarrassment/recognition, not of incredulity. I don't really blame the guy though, James was really making it difficult for him. Maybe not the best strategy on his part, but it made for good content!
You've got to wonder what goes on in the mind behind the stonewall face of the guests listening to the two fake stories. I bet at least one guest has wished one of the fake ones was the true one at some point!
James was in his mid 30s I think during the recording. Most people with the gene started balding even before they hit 20. By the time they hit that age, they'd usually rocking a shaved head look.
He should just go full bald James just looks so youth like when he is almost 40, so makes sense that his friend looks 40 as well specially rocking that hairstyle
Yeah it's my only minor gripe about this show and a lot of British shows. There's a lot of cheap laughs that everyone just goes with. But tbh, it's not easy with coming up with gags on the spot so everyone kinda let's it slide. Lee makes a joke about French people being waiters in the same episode too. It's meh. But I guess it plays well with people who watch from abroad and haven't heard these a million times. Like seeing Oti's reaction to it
