My mother had several trays like yours. We used them to carry all necessary items for our cookouts or suppers out on the picnic table. No air conditioning then so we spent many evenings outside. Thanks for the memory jog.😀
In SE Tn. we don't have as many flea markets. It's pretty much estate sales around here and a butt load of antique booths to sell what ya found at the estate sale. The thing with estate sales is you have to get there early to be at the front of the line to get what ya want. I have companies that I follow and others that are so expensive that I never go. I had considered starting a cast iron channel to walk around estate sales like you do flea markets. It could help finance my addiction! There isn't a good estate sale every week so I don't know how often videos would come out. Maybe I could buy a few pieces and go through the process of restoring it for the next week's video? IDK?
Not a bad idea! Even estate sales that are pricey would still be neat to check out and share with people. I go sometimes and get next to nothing, but still enjoy seeing what's out there!
@@castironkev I always enjoy your videos and I like talking to another cast iron guy. I restore for two estate sale companies so I get to see what people actually buy. There isn't a ton of collectors locally but a lot of cooks. Asian cast iron sells verry well to cooks while a nice Wagner or Griswold will hang there waiting for a collector. If an estate sale company has a warehouse they are more likely to want restored cast iron. I don't have a lot of demand from the weekend estate sales companies. These guys don't have anything in these pieces so when its restored it will bring good money. They give me the higher end pieces for restoring the others. I've got one guy that says "just take what ya want". He knows I would never be unfair.
@turdferguson5300 I appreciate your support! That sound like a sweet deal you have with the companies, tho "take what you want" might be dangerous for me haha
