Jakob Boehme lived from 1573 to 1624, born into a Polish Lutheran family and 4th of 5 children. He lived in the time of the 30 years war, which effectively could be called the first world war of many. He became a shoemaker and lived with non-Christians, who insulted him constantly for reading the bible. He also read Paracelsus.
He had a revelation in 1600 regarding the spiritual structure of the world and the relationship between God and man, good and evil. Books he wrote include Aurora - the rising of the dawn in 1600, The Way to Christ in 1624 and On the Three Principles of Divine Being.
The local population could not abide by his philosophies and mysticism and he was not allowed to publish his works or to speak in his local community; he ended up living in Germany. He found patrons who contributed to publishing his books.
He came up with concepts like the Law of Three and the Law of Seven. Jakob Boehme was considered by Hegel to be the Father of German Philosophy and his works have far-reaching effects today.
