Brunson isn’t really considered a good defender but he is almost always in the right position and moving on a string, giving max effort which is a testament to him and Coach Thibs. This is why it was so disrespectful Dame got the start over Brunson on all star weekend.
yeah all you can really ask of him on defense is to rotate properly, show on hedges, flood the all handler to the strong side of the defense, & take timely charges. Which he all does very well, like you said, thanks to Thibs.
Yeah Coach man over here shows why even just being in the right position and doing the most basic defensive fundamentals are even just enough. Brunson isn’t going to smother someone with their physicality, but being in the right moment at the right time with right footwork, he can still disrupt plays.
This is the best I've ever felt being a Knicks fan LOL. Such validation! Such good feelings! Going to savor it before we somehow scuff up the playoffs.
@@Eric42RandomVideos I hope you're right, but if we get used to let other teams get double digit leads on us, eventually it will come back to haunt us ... oh wait. It is haunting us already (Chigago, Houston, San Antonio, Golden State, Miami) All winnable games (all games the Knicks made bag comebacks only to fell short. All of them, the opposing team got a double digit lead in the first quarter. We could be the 2 seed resting our starters for two weeks before the Playoffs, but no. We're still trying to avoid failing to 4th with one game to go. Good job NY.
“If you’re not ready to gaurd Jalen Brunson… just put 2 points on the board…. Like the scoreboard operator can put 2 points right on the board right now..” 🤣😭🔥
My fav quote of this clip. Only reason operator can’t put 2 up as JB starts to take advantage of a defender is the operator isn’t sure if it’s gonna be a blow by for 2 in the paint or step back 3 in their eye!
I remember looking at Brunson's stats before the draft and wondering how so many scouts thought his game wouldn't transition to the pro level. He fell lower than the projections and it helped realize that I should be a fan of players not teams. Keep cooking Jaylen, I'm happy a team paid him like a star because he is one.
@@wavestation999 absolutely dude, the MVP conversations are so tired because all the homers yell at each other like their player is the clear cut winner. but i just sit back and enjoy watching all them play cuz there’s just so much talent in this league
Jalen Brunson is amazing. The entire modern day nba philosophy of "athleticism=amazing" is so wrong and so flawed. Luka was the third pick because he had "low upside." Bagley shouldn't even be a nba player at this point and Ayton does the bare minumum and is too busy playing video games to care. Jokic is in contention for best offensive player ever and he was a 2nd rounder. Brunson was the best player in college for 2 years, won 2 titles and was a 2nd rounder and now look at him. Probably a top-10 player in the league and I might be underselling him honestly.
NBA fans and unfortunately even scouts and GMs tend to judge players purely based on what they can theoretically accomplish on the court. I get why fans do this - they don't actually watch many games and instead look at highlights and read box scores. But the fact that NBA professionals often exhibit poor judgement similar to fans makes me wonder if they're just completely phoning in their jobs.
In this era of scoring...this Knicks team is about to show the world how defense wins championships....again. This Knicks team...are some of the best team defenders ive seen since 90's Bulls
Brunson is a basketball surgeon. He sees all these small details us fans don’t notice and uses it to his advantage every time. His iq is off the charts
Just found you and you are a maniac, and I mean that in the best possible way. Great analysis, on OG and Jalen. Love the detailed breakdowns. You got a new subscriber. Go Knicks.
lol for LITERALLY nothing😂 They did land Kyrie tho so they can't be that mad. Plus idk if JB is this good if he's still next to Luka. Im just happy as a Knicks fan that we got someone like this to watch on a nightly basis. Its pretty fuggin dope
Jalen Brunson is like Iverson in that if he was 6’6”, everyone would be in huge trouble. His effort and his skill are insane, the only reason he isn’t an elite defender is the limitations placed on him by his size, but his effort is on the level
The Knicks are the only NBA team that plays great fundamental defense finishing eith rebounds and eliminating transition. No other team gets praised by this man for a reason
I feel like there's some Jason Kidd-ness in Brunson's play style. If he gets on a fast break, it's basically donezo. Makes sense, too, considering Kidd coached him in Dallas.
Im aware Jalen wont crack the top 3. But thanks for this breakdown his effort on both ends is outstanding. all 4 starters have been replaced this season (grimes, rj, jules, mitch were game 1 starters) brunson has not only played great but his game has improved improved!!!
I think I saw Brunson score again after the video finished. Wait, I think he’s still scoring. What an awesome breakdown. Best basketball channel on RU-vid.
Nobody talks about Jalen's defense except as bringing up the rear of the starters. That's probably because of his height because people will shoot over him. They do talk about him taking so many charges and that has got to hurt. Reminds me of Bobby Orr letting his left knee take all the hits, and then he's done.
@@boris2997 they saved 38 million his contract was supposed to be 235 mill but it was talked down. He's 33 and there's a player option. Not to mention it's a really tradable contract. Overpay would have been giving him the max
Especially for what MVP actually means it’s definitely Brunson but he also has the numbers and obviously the wins.. if you calling it the most valuable player award then how is it not Brunson?? Make it make sense.. the media is just bitter and bias
Okay I get it! The counselors have talked to you about going positive on the offense.... Therefore keeping your blood pressure down on the defense. Great idea! It's still pretty high though..... Keep using that meter!
None of my friends will listen to me when I say Jalen Brunson should legitimately be the MVP this season. They don't listen to me because I'm a Knicks fan. I'm not saying it as a Knicks fan, though. I'm saying it as a basketball fan. He is the best player on the floor every night. Its absurd to watch what he does night in and night out. Sadly, the vast majority of fans only really care about media attention and counting stats. So if a big guard has elevated rebounding numbers, they are viewed highly. Oh how triple doubles have ruined the game I love
My god. You clap your hands to every other word you say my guy. I definitely get the emphasis and excitement. But I couldn’t track what you were saying half the time because of it.
I wanna see a video on dlo cause he has very polarizing nights where he might drop 44 or drop 4 points but he always ends with a good amount of assists. It’s hard to tell if he is an actual effective player
Brunson prbly has the best post game among all the guards in NBA history, except Magic ofc (and we gonna ignore Luka plays point guard, he's a cheat code), Gary Payton has great post moves, Mark Jackson has a giant ass, Kyle Lowry has insane core strength, but Brunson has it all, and he use that as a main weapon, and what's most impressive he don't just bully the other side small guards, he often takes on small forwards who are like 6 foot up, that's insane considering he is a very short pointguard. It's a shame this year all NBA team no longer draft off positions, because I do think for this season Brunson is the best point guard and should be all NBA 1st tema, he will for sure be in 2nd team but it's just not the same.
