There was only confusion among those who were typically confused. The Eagles finished the season before that draft by losing in the playoffs with their 3rd string QB who was injured and retiring anyway. They had 0 healthy QBs on the roster and an immediate need at QB, and Jalen was still available in the 2nd all the way at 53, so it was like stealing a lottery prize. The only mistake they made was starting with only 4 weeks left in the 2020 season, he should have started the all season long

Oh, and the Packers drafted Jordan Love in the 1st round of that draft as well. They shouldn't have even gone QB, but if they did, they should have gone Jalen (I'm sure many teams would have changed their picks for Jalen before his 53rd spot)

You’d easily become a hurts fan if you do a little research on him from his college days. In the current era where guys hit the transfer portal as soon as things stop going their way, Jalen had more of a reason to than anyone. A hugely successful stint at Alabama and then he struggles in the Championship. He gets replaced by Tua at halftime and Tua wins the game. He is then 2nd string at bama behind tua the following season but instead of leaving right then, he sticks it out for his team. He plays garbage time all season until Tua goes down in the SEC championship. Jalen goes in and mounts a comeback to win the game. The following season he goes to Oklahoma and has a heisman caliber season. He gets drafted to the eagles 2nd round and is doubted since day 1. Through hard work and sheer determination he becomes the starter and never looks back. During his time he is hated on by every analyst except Skip Bayless. Skip is like a proud dad at the moment.
