OK I respect your loyalty to the Force. And I understand your underestimation of the intelligence and info gathering skills of the ordinary citizen. Trust mi, if it nuh go sun. I go near so.
I have a cousin who went on basic training when he decided to join. I heard that he cried like a baby during the intense periods. "from boy to man transformation, this is the place to be".
The truth is we have Garrison communities controlled by politicians also, but the majority of those communities had law abiding citizens in them, eg. The pregnant educator who was shot through her stomach and left to rot with her baby sticking out of her. Civil disturbance sir did not and does not equate to a death sentence. Fifty one percent of young Jamaicans do not feel secure in this country and is willing to give up Their citizenship according to one Don Anderson Poll. The state controlled security agencies are slowly losing their respect both in Jamaica and over seas as even the united states congress has recently accused Jamaica of using US donated weapons against its citizens. And this has lead to more difficulty of n the agencies accessing its much needed equipment. Any intelligent person would know that you never cut away the tail of an organism and expect it to die. You must cut away the head. unfortunately we didn't, we just made enemies of our own people.
I have several family members who have joined and fought in their so called battles and they have nothing but the feeling of shame coming out of their combat.
Nickolas Foster if you have at least 5 CBC subjects then that is good, especially if they include maths and English, but if you don’t have math or English then you will be required to do a math or English test at Up Park Camp before you are allowed to start training
though some might want to say we are a back water country, Jamaica will always remain amongst the cream of the crop. so equating our situation to somalia, or Croatia is silly. killing many to execute a warranty on a single person is to turn our backs on our ability to gather intelligence and to be intelligent. valuing every human life within our waters is the secret to the essence of the soldiers being.
I don't see this as hard I'm only 15 and i can do up to 50 pushups and 100 sit ups and running won't be a probably I'm skinny so long distance running will be a breeze
A soldier kills for a living, and most Jamaicans don't know what honor is. we have never have to really fight to the last man for anything but ourselves. And killing innocent people across Jamaica does take away your right to use the word honor. To most of these guys its just a fraternity, or gang by which they can get paid. A true soldier is a warrior first and last.
You have demonstrated a fundamental lack of understanding of what we do.12 years I patrolled the inner cities of Tivoli and Arnett gardens as an officer 3JR and never fired a single shot. As a member of the JDF our mission was always to keep the peace. A true solder protects the nation from external enemies. Let me say this without equivocation, Jamaica has the best trained and most disciplined armed force in the entire Caribbean and latin American region. Lt Retired.
junior demus That's perfectly fine. Everyone should have an opinion. That opinion, I believe, should be based on facts. Killing people across the island for example? The Jdf is deployed as a unit only in extreme circumstances and under strict JCF controls. To a civilian this may not be obvious but the rules of engagement are stringent and violations are strictly punished. If you are referring partly to the Tivoli incident I would like to ask a question. Would you have preferred to have an armed camp of gunmen drawn form across the island controlled by a known criminal or have the country brought into civilization? No doubt innocent people died but who is to blame? The criminals who created the situation or the security forces trying to restore law and order?
if you say however that in battle the only important thing is survival, then you are definitely not of the officers gentleman class I thought you were ,but a common operator of which there is too many these days
