Miss Bones and her Mother are the first two vendors you meet at the entrance of the Montego Bay Market. Their polite mannerisms are rivalled by their expert local knowledge of herbs, bushes and exotic, non- mainstream fruit. Bones takes me on a journey of her spices, revealing inter- generational knowledge acquired from 3 past generations of family matriarchs. In this era of Covid Lockdown, we still need to source local foods.
Thankfully, the market is still open to give opportunity to the informal sector workers; who contribute to our food security and sovereign identity... Eat what we grow! Grow what we Eat!

Very eloquent and knowledgeable market vendor...it goes to show that we can excel in any area that we play our "trade".

Yes, I am a Trini lecturing at Mobay Com. College and a post- grad with UWI Mona. I appreciate the support. I will be showcasing local Jamaican foods with non- traditional or hybrid recipes gained from Trinidad and all over the world. I make videos 3 times per week.

The vendor needs to remove the original label off the bottles and put the name of the ingredients that is in them in order to be more accurate.

Thanks for the comment. You are right. I didn't have noise canceling ear buds and naively didn't realise the wind factor until editing.

Where can I buy organic Jamaican herbs, thank you?
@cookingwithmadho1118
@cookingwithmadho1118 Год назад
Thanks for the question. The most obvious answer will be at a large Municipal Market like Coronation Market, Montego Bay Charles Gordon etc. These markets tend to have older women or Rastas who are knowledgeable with plenty Roots, bush etc...Do not make the mistake of buying from a supermarket, pharmacy or hyped up Rasta Ital shop....

For example, in Charles Gordon Market there are about 5 vendors at least in the front...plenty stocks..
