People are just pissed at someone being critical, but he's not the only one in the show that acts like that; they're mostly getting retribution (through shitting on him) for a perceived wrong of not adhering to their standards - you can only be an asshole (subjective)about smth, if you're good/the best at the thing (which I find stupid). People are honestly kind of missing the point of the show (it's not a (basic)cooking competition) but the stupid narrative of "you can't critique without being an expert (at producing the subject), (especially if you have attitude)" is still pretty popular, so I'm not surprised. I'm just kind of disappointed by the idiocy/hypocrisy and lack of not even general but self-awareness.

My grandparents and my dad aunt and uncle came from Jamaica to Canada in 77. Every time I'd stay with my grandparents and I had to go to school my grandma would put a patty in my lunch. Only the other kids with Jamaican parents (4 or 5 of us) knew and they are jealous AF.

I mean every culture that has been colonized has a meat pie. Taste wise and texture wise though the jamaican beef pattie if very different to west african meat pies imo.
