I will truly believe Canada to be the kings of CONCACAF is they win the Gold Cup. Right now, Canada has got a long way to go to challenge the United States and Mexico.
Canada had shut-out 3 of the teams from their past 4 matches (France, Peru & Chile). Canada was outplaying Chile when they were playing 11 vs 11. Canada knew that they almost certainly only needed a draw in this match to advance, so there was much more emphasis out on their defence. Max Crepeau, Canada's goalkeeper, was hardly challenged throughout the match. Mission accomplished!!! Great job Canada!
I rarely agree with Lalas. But he’s right here. The decision was made to use technology to eliminate wrong decisions. Now, people don’t like the results and get mad at the technology. So in the end, it was never about the correctness of the decision. It was always about if you like the result or not.
Argentine author Roberto Fontanarrosa wrote a short story where he predicts the VAR in football matches, at the end the story the whole VAR office is blew up by the fans with an advance missile and the guy telling the story said: " The fans also upgrade their protests"
How can you be surprised that Canada is flying the flag for Concacaf!?? Canucks dominate this present era. Of course they have been the superior team ever since Herdman and world cup qualifying rounds a few years back. Also , they are not through this tournament yet as this team continues to break boundaries. Congrats also to Marche for making it out of the us coaching quagmire.
Stutter step is also ridiculous. Should go back to being banned. As a keeper I’m biased but it’s not so easy as Lalas thinks to stay on your line until the absolute last second unless you wanna never have penalties saved at all. Has no idea what he’s talking about on this one. Such an American perspective.
Totally agree. The penalty kick should be taken in one continuous motion. A penalty kick is very much tipped in favour of the kicker, no need to make more difficult for the goalkeeper
You mean pathetic . I think the USA is going to tied against Uruguay if they get the tied their in . Mexico needs to win to pass Or tied if Jamaica wins
And this is exactly why Canadians don't like Americans. Canada succeeds, and it's because of their newly-appointed American coach? Really? He inherited an already strong team.
Gee whiz. Were we lucky or what? We passed on Marsch because Berhalter was the US Coach. And the first results are in! Marsch's Canada gets out of the group at Copa and Berhalter's US lays yet another rotten egg and doesn't. Are we lucky or what?
I think stutter to a complete stop is ridiculous simply because it makes the pen so lop sided for the striker. After the 2022 world cup keepers arent allowed to distract, taunt, do anything to gain an advantage and the strikers can do these frankly wild moves to throw them off. Either have it all be okay (stutter step, taunting) or none of it.
The handball rule is a tough one. Sucks so much that inadvertent hand balls on the edge of the area lead to such disproportionate punishment. Also defending with your hands behind your back is unrealistic….humans don’t move that way
Italy are in need of a revamped identity of some sort and rejuvenation. Just not enough quality amongst the current player pool to continue on as serious threats at major tournaments as currently constructed and managed.
Canadá kings of CONCACAF? Jokes. Haven’t won anything of importance, lost to the USA in the final. Let’s not forget that in the WC, USA was the only CONCACAF team to get out of the group. Canada faced the worst Peru sides in years, and a Chile who hasn’t scored a goal this tournament. Canada needs to be humble, USA all the way
7:25 In the old days before the VAR, defender who had a super fast reflex, would use their hands to block a ball and say it was not intentional, which is BS. Today, you either learn how to defend without hands or get out of Soccer all together. The Rule has always been DON'T STOP BALLS WITH HANDS INSIDE the BOX.. the fact that a referee could not catch you if you cheated doesn't mean and never meant you had the right to cheat. The VAR is a great tool to FIGHT CHEATERS and there are plenty of them. And yes the VAR is changing Soccer History, Argentina would not have benefited Maradona's hand of God and won the WC. It would have been GOOD to prevent Maradona from using his hand to score. There is his side and the other side. The other side would have welcomed an Argentina victory and Maradona scoring a goal, but without the use of Hand. The VAR would have helped prevent a cheater from cheating. It's about fairness Go VAR Go and F*ck the Cheaters Fifa rules say, don't use you hand. Hey Cheater: what F*cken part of don't use your hand did you not understand? Or are you simply so used to cheating in every aspect of your life, you're willing to spread the culture of cheating a lifetime? If players don't cheat, that the VAR is not going to change the call - SIMPLE !
The VAR is America's Gift to the rest of the Planet. From the NFL to FIFA with Love. Now, you can see what some cheating Players have been doing for decades. The more you get used to the idea of VAR the more you're going to accept it and come to depend on it, because the bottom line WE ALL LOVE TO WIN FAIRLY. The old saying that cheating is part of Football (Soccer) is 100% BS, not even the cheating players used to like cheating because deep down they knew they didn't win fairly. We Like Fairness The VAR gives you a better way to get to the highest percentage of fairness possible. Thank you NFL and Thank yo John McEnroe They Rest of the World does NOT reject VAR, and they will all start to consider it an essential part of referring. VIVA el VAR !
It shows how good their defence has been. 5 of 6 halves have been clean sheets with only Argentina scoring against them. Take it back further and France also couldn’t score against them. Paraguay has 2 goals and 0 points. It’s not about goals, it’s about finding ways to earn wins, points and advancing. The naysayers love to talk about Canadas lack of offence but never talk about their defence.
Alexi has obviously never read the rules as written in FIFA’s original Officials handbook regarding offsides and hand ball. The rules have been rewritten and “dumbed down” in recent iterations to help the clueless. Soccer was designed to be a dynamic game with minimal stoppages. Watch - the rules will come full circle and the official will once again be a facilitator and not a puppet of technology. No advantage = no foul unless deemed dangerous or reckless.
@@DigontoZahid-lc7kt you need to go out more if you think being wrong on any of this is embarrasing. But you are wrong. Read up on the rules. They aren't that complicated. And Denmark lost because they weren't good enough. The better team won. Good. If a decision like this lesd to the worse team winning i would probably be a little upset too.
Offside is an easy one. It is or it isn’t. Alexi is right on that. Handballs though…he’s totally wrong. You can’t have a game with defenders all having their hands behind their backs…that’s dumb. Handball should be much more obvious and deliberate.
