I think of lot of what comedians say is based on true events, but extraordinarily exaggerated and altered to be as funny as possible. The way he says it in this video though would imply that that is the guy's name or he's just flat out lied to his friends as well as everyone else. He didn't even say, like a lot of people do, "I'll change the name to protect them", he said it as if that was definitely the guy's name. If he didn't know the name, he could have just said that he didn't know. Either this gig is where he got the name Rybo from that he then used in other places or, more likely, this entire story is totally made up, which I think most of his scrapes are. How would he know how to spell Rybo for a start, or that the guy's real name was Ryan; he wouldn't have found that out in the situation he's described?

I have played Fell Foot Wood and interacted with Barry before. Now having context that the wanking guy during stand up was at a Fell Foot Wood gig, this makes a LOT more sense. To put it into perspective, in about 2015 one of my bands was supposed to play a music festival at Fell Foot Woods. In the email confirming us, Barry also invited us to take part in the "final ritual" of the show, where he would chant his poetry as he lead everyone at the festival in a march to a ring of standing stones in the woods (if I remember right) and then he and a few others would fuck inflatable sheep as a metaphor for "desecration the sacred lamb" as part of this satanic themed art theatre performance. I was VERY confused by this email, to say the least 😂 Barry is a super chill dude though, so more power to him I guess hahaha

Him and that other guy Tom Davies (not on this podcast)... I went to school with him, and he was painfully unfunny then. Couldn't stop cracking unfunny jokes. Basically really annoying. Imagine my suprise and disappointment seeing him on TV amongst some real comedians that I actually enjoy! >=O/ You just end up cringing and staring at them, willing them to stop their awful unfunny observations - Dude! SHUT THE FUCK UP! PLEASE!!!
