There are a few things that are missing in this pizza construction to make it really efficient. One is that the structure needs to be cured with a first fire before adding the insulation and render layers. Second is that after the chicken wire, a layer of vermiculite concrete needs to be added before the render. In this way you will ensure that your oven will reach the required 400 centigrade to cook a pizza in 1 minute and not waste fuel (wood) unnecessarily.

Here in the US in late October 2020 it is hard to describe just how enjoyable it is to watch James and crew diddle about and create a diversion from the most stressful year of my life.

I wanted to put something on background whilst I do homework but then this was just too interesting... so I had to watch something else

Prefer using a ready made portable LPG pizza oven, got a Ooni Koda 16 recently and trialled it on my 13kg Flo-Gas butane cylinder from my mobile heater, lights instantly, heats up quick, cooks pizza in less than 5 minutes, and doesn't need constant refuelling with wood to maintain the temperature.

i built a wood fired pizza oven from Forno Bravo instructions, which is the same as the one in the video... cutting of the firebricks was by far the most time consuming part! Its a thing of beauty when finished.

Apart from all awesomeness that is James May in this video, can someone explain the purpose of the cottonlike + chicken wire and last rendering layer. Is it for warm isolation purposes or basically just for design? What is the downside of making a pizza oven and keep it as it is @ 2:14 and if so, is it even worth making it?
