The 24th edition of the Arthur Lyons Film Noir Festival opened with a screening of the classic heist film THE KILLING (1956) followed by a discussion with festival host/producer Alan K. Rode and special guest, producer/director James B. Harris.
At 94, Harris displayed a keen sense of humor while providing razor-sharp recollections of his close collaboration with director Stanley Kubrick. Harris’ fascinating details concerning the genesis and production of THE KILLING included remembrances of the actors from seven decades ago along with recollections of other Harris-Kubrick films and candid observations about filmmaking that still hold true. This scintillating conversation provides an insightful historical perspective about a legendary filmmaking partnership.
