Main Line Overland's Tom Henwood and James Baroud's Craig Davidson go over the design and features of the James Baroud Evasion Hardshell RTT. With it's "box" or straight pop-up opening system and advanced technical fabrics and features, the James Baroud Evasion Off-Road Tent is a great option for adding a relatively light-weight, low profile RTT to your adventure vehicle.

If I had the money, this is the tent that I would get. Its slim, relatively light, & it looks good. Need to start saving some dough lol

I just picked up a Chevy Colorado ZR two. I’m coming from a Tahoe and already own a James Buroud Explorer. I am looking for a canopy to mount it on the ZR2 ...What canopy is on the truck in this video?

That solar powered fan...what is the CFM rating and how loud is it in decibels?
@AdamLewis1
@AdamLewis1 4 года назад
I don't have numbers for either but I can tell you that you can feel the air flow past your hand if you put it up near the fan and it definitely makes a noise but I wouldn't say it's any louder than a "performance" PC fan.

@@AdamLewis1 Thank you Adam. So you have to get your hand within close proximity to feel the breeze...okay, I pretty much thought that given the diameter of the fan blades. I wondered if the fan made enough noise to keep you up at night but, from your description, it sounds like a low level white noise that earplugs could take care of, if necessary. Does the fan have an on/off switch?

@@David-rx2to I guess it depends on you and how you sleep. It's not 'loud' but you definitely hear it over what would otherwise be a totally silent night. It is more like white noise though and earplugs would eliminate it entirely. The fan does have an on/off switch but it's actually inside the fan so you have to reach your finger in past the blades both to start and stop it. Not the best design but I presume it's to prevent the fan from being turned on by something inside the tent while it's closed.

it seems to me that there are too many zippers around the tent. They certainly make the 360 view interesting. But if it rains with wind I imagine water can entering everywhere through the zippers.

The bolts poke through the mattress. Engineering flaw. Hmmmm😖

George Harrison Spud iKampers use the same through-bolt and fender washer method to secure the mounting rails to the fiberglass shell. The stainless nylock nut does sit a bit higher than a bolt head, but JB wanted the most secure attachment possible to the rail-more secure and less prone to metal expansion/ contraction than, for example, a bottom-mounted T-slot nut.

@@timothymiller5425 There's actually an insert (comfort pad) that goes under the mattress that allows air to circulate beneath the mattress and also supports the mattress. There are two thicknesses you can buy from JB. The mattress is like a memory foam that just conforms around the nut. Nothing pokes through the mattress. JB also has a tunnel that attaches to the side and also connects to their optional awning so you can climb up into your tent through the awning. You can also get an thermal liner for the inside if you plan on camping in really cold weather. We've used ours in the low 20s and were fine without it.
