love how he says "delicate" and "isn't it?" in the most rugged, indelicate way. it's almost like he's mocking the gingerness with which s/he'd be expected to express these feelings to someone, deciding to be bold instead. also the drums/electric guitar combo - so powerful
This is also an amazing example of how people are so judgemental towards TS. They often say how cheesy her songs are and it's made for children but when it's covered by other artists, then it's suddenly a great song/performance. Some think writing lyrics are simple but Taylor is so brilliant that she makes it look effortless and "easy." Newsflash: it's not.
Em Bem Should’ve Said No, The Outside, Our Song, Change, Fifteen, Forever And Always, Hey Stephen, Love Story, The Best Day, The Other Side Of The Door, You’re Not Sorry, Jump Then Fall, Superstar, Begin Again, Holy Ground, I Almost Do, The Lucky One, Red, Sad, Beautiful Tragic, Starlight, State of Grace, and Stay Stay Stay, Girl At Home, The Moment I Knew, This Love, Cornelia Street, Daylight, Lover, Christmas Tree Farm. AND ALL 17 SONGS OF SPEAK NOW IS WRITTEN BY TAYLOR WHEN SHE WAS ONLY 19. i wouldn’t really call that “almost every song”
I mean. Ryan Adams did it with 1989. I think she would be more than generous to give him permission to cover the album She just is that kind of person.
The vulnerability that his voice creates is real lit. It gets stronger as it becomes more and more intense later on. And from being intense, it eventually goes back to being fragile again.
John mayer got a great guitar skills but in terms of humility, james is way too far better from him. I don't know them personally but you can tell by observing how they act towards other people. And I can say, john is a no no.
But he did? He changed “he” to “you” and made the whole thing second person. Which I think was a brilliant choice, but it is different than the original
I think that’s awesome too but I also don’t get why people get mad when pronouns are changed. It makes the song more personal to the listener and that’s what it’s about -the connection between the artist and the listener through music.
Miranda Morris hey that’s fine too I’m just tryna say that there are people who have certain connections with certain songs, say a relatable feeling with the artist. They wanna make it their own so they’ll sing it from their own POV which is plenty of times not directed to another man or woman but if it is than there’s nothing wrong with that.
I love it when my favorite artists cover Taylor Swift songs. To me it just further proves her validity as a songwriter. I mean, I feel like James Bay could cover anything and make it sound amazing, but it sure helps when you have a great song to start with.
palss 115 he literally playes on the radio here all the time... also he likes to keep it low key. He seems like the "club/bar tour kinda guy" rather than "filling the stadium" type
He actually didn't change not even a word ( when it says *do the girls back home touch u like i do *) unlike most celebrities do 😭😭 i fucking love this man 😍😭
It's different, I like it! At first it sounded kinda weird but as I listened it actually sounded pretty cool, and he looks really focused on the music, which is good! He rocked
James can sing the lyrics with so much feeling. It feels like I’m listening to a story. Sometimes I’ll listen to a song over and over again but never really think through abt the lyrics...James bay is definitely one of a kind .
Just the way he’s sitting there sideways, so intimate, him and the drummer just jamming with each other. So jealous of the people who were there to see this performance live.
James just has a voice that is so well suited to live, raw and acoustic set ups - and he can really belt out the notes! Like, have you seen his take on Tina Turner's Simply the best?! Ive never seen it sang so well!
This is 20x best dedicated cover perfection as always every time he nailed it! 🙌🏻🔥❤️ I’m so addicted to James cover Of this beautiful song! He so underrated he one of the greatest talent artist out there 2018 is his year!
WOW! Perfect! This is why you were awarded the 'Honorary Doctorate of Music Degree' from the University of Bedfordshire. U deserve 'Everything U receive'. You are a musical Genius! Musically, there is nothing this man 'CAN NOT' do!💝💝U

It's my favourite song ever because it's about being vulnerable when you've been hurt before. It's about being strong again and baring your soul to that one person who can hurt you.
Woah. I'm getting some Ryan Adams vibes. Amazing cover, James! Makes me wish more that Taylor makes a rock/country/acoustic version of some of her pop songs.
Anthony Estacio I wish she would've done an album with state of grace vibes 😭 I really love her music as it is, but some stadium rock would blow many people away
usually with covers like these that switch up the genre everyone comments "this is so much better than the original!!!" (as if the original artist didn't create the song that they now love just bc it's more to their taste) but I'm glad that people are appreciating both here
This ain't for the best My reputation's never been worse, so You must like me for me We can't make Any promises now, can we, babe? But you can make me a drink Dive bar on the East Side, where you at? Phone lights up my nightstand in the black Come here, you can meet me in the back Dark jeans and your Nikes, look at you Oh damn, never seen that color blue Just think of the fun things we could do 'Cause I like you This ain't for the best My reputation's never been worse, so So you must like me for me We can't make Any promises now, can we, babe? this cover is just one of the best that there'll be a time in the future where i'll go back and appreciate and it'll feel just like the first time watching
