They also both seem to have a suspicious amount of relationship failures (Jessie says she keeps being abandoned/mistreated by her partners, James is trying to avoid an arranged marriage) and yet they have a certain amount of chemistry. And Jessie gets very mad when James' fiancee tries to take him. But they don't confirm anything between them. I feel like the last episode was meant to be some kind of plot to that effect, but there isn't one because it's still going so they're in this eternal limbo of being best friends that would kinda work in that way.

That's the beauty of them, they're completely free spirits who do what makes them happy and don't care what anyone else thinks. Aside from the whole criminal aspect, they're fantastic role models for all of us. Even as a little kid, I adored them; the only thing that's changed now that I'm an adult is that I now fully understand /why/ they're worth adoring.
