Very cool idea , take your drums up a mountain and jam. I often stand on my roof at 2 AM and let rip with my bagpipes so my neighbours can be soothed by their beautiful tone.

@mrjollypantsjolly Definitely! He's an extremely capable drummer and I love watching him play. People seem to have taken my comment the wrong way--it wasn't a criticism so much as a mild suggestion as to how I myself would have approached the beat....and not an implication that anything about how he played it was wrong.
@PragueMeddler This is a fair point. Chambers does this groove calling it the fatback, and indeed the accents are on the quarters, with lesser notes on the hats on the "ands". That means the second snare accent is with a non-accented hat beat. Its a killer to play, I have been working on it for weeks and only just am I able to stop that habit of automatically accenting the hat on that snare beat. Nonetheless, this guys playings great, and I aint wanting to critisize and wont!! Well done mate!
HAHAHAHA Great reply LOVED IT ! And well consider his own video, u will realize HE CANNOT even play "just hi-hat snare and kick" in the pocket, for sure funk is like another planet to him 'ALIEN" and far away UNKNOWN !

@erange i can play that drum groove believe me! and i dont see a point in going all the way up there with all your cymbals and stuff and only play the hi hat snare and kick drum! just saying! but its a nice groove for sure :D
this is what im goin to do this summer.. playing on a mountain.. :)) also im goin to buy new cymbals, in few days im going to buy a left side ride but its not a K.. do they have any difference? i can ship a K left side ride from US but i dont want to buy any cymbal without hearing it... and what kind of a hi hat you use?? Sweet drumming .....what kind of drum head do you have on the bass drum batter head? Do you have any muffling on the kick? I have a rick marotta hipgig but I just cant get a good sound on the kick and they stores dont usually stock 16" bass drum heads.
This is a cool beat. However, may I suggest something to make it a little more fluid and groovy? Instead of accenting your hihat stroke along with the second snare accent, pull away from the right hand with the snare accent and keep your hihat accents on the quarter notes like you do in the second measure. It'll give it a more steady pulse and remove that break in the beat. Just a thought. :)
