Today would have been my dad's 87th birthday. Playing James Brown for him tonight. He was a white man that played drums and loved soul, he always said, "James Brown is THE Man!
It’s the time period. The majority of the audience is white and they don’t want to be seen enjoying an African American performance because that would mean they are in political allegiance with the Civil Rights movement. James Brown sang “ Say it loud I’m black and I’m proud.”
James Brown, Michael Jackson, Prince, Bobby Brown, the list goes on with all these beautiful Black men who have their special moves that will always be in style and loved by all who watched their amazing performances. We love you James Brown.
You know some entertainers as they age people lose interest in them because they're not considered hot or with it anymore, they are deemed to be out dated relics of an anachronistic musical era. I work with a silly young whipper snapper like that, ha, hahaha hahaha. And he and I are always having friendly debates regarding the music of our respective eras. However the difference between he and I is that if I hear something that I like regardless of what era it comes from if I like I like it. Him on the hand his ears are closed to anything but the music from his era . Like for instance I Iove Cardi and Bruno Mars and a lot of different people from this era. Because the beat is what enamores me to the song. But some people like the God father here will never go out of style because of the electricity he generated and his ability to reinvent himself. A few others possessed this quilty but brother James was one of the extraordinary ones. Peace and glory to this unique soul and it's my sincere wish that this wonderful brother's music. Will be heard by multitudes of people until the last man or woman walks this earth☺️.
Just noticed. He was always into his music and did some cool stuff. His one footed shimmy looks impossible and his mic drop and catch are always fun to watch. There's always alot going on with JB.
A great performer had to practice to things that could not say or do things back before becoming performers to people. They know how it is. JB was a GREAT PERFORMER. He stayed in character of who he was inspite of the crowd
It's not that the audience were dead.. This is back in the days where when something like that was televised, the audience was NOT supposed to be acting like fools.
Son: Mr. James Brown, I'm your son James Brown:, Uh, well...good luck with that! Son: Well, can I at least call you daddy? James Brown: No son. Only your mama can call me daddy.
What’s WRONG with these people? I guess it wasn’t generally understood that the audience can affect the performance a lot. Sad, but oh boy I’m pretty sure Mr Brown is beaming today - from heaven!
