British author and broadcaster James Burke explores the restraints of context and knowledge upon change, particularly social change, then discusses the ways by which change occurs, during a lecture given for Ball State University UniverCity 1990. He uses a variety of scientific and technological examples, and discusses the effects of technological change on society.

53:45 about homeworking, dropping prices of fuel, near collapse of public transport- said in 1992... I'm watching it in 2020 Kind of scarry how much of future could be predicted just from analysing the past. James Burke the Prophet...

James Burke is one of the few great commicative voices i’ve heard. Missed this lecture before- good to see and hear it now- first bit of joined up thinking i’ve seen for some time Thanks James. 🎸

Very very interesting lecture....Which very much connected to ideas in the final part of The Day the Universe Changed which developed Thomas Kuhn's ideas relating to the History of Science & how this relates to Epistemology & its social implications.
