James Coburn (1928 - 2002) was filmed in Padua, Italy during the Sam Peckinpah Film Festival in September 2000. Interview from the documentary "Sam Peckinpah: Portrait" (2006). Directed by Umberto Berlenghini & Michelangelo Dalto. Dedicated to Walter Peter, Peckinpah's brother-in-law.
In Italy the documentary had two releases: the first in December 2006 attached to the monthly film magazine CIAK, then a few years later as an extra on the DVD release of "The Osterman Weekend".
(From IMDb) 'Male friendship and loyalty till death. Drawing from the philosophy of Peckinpah's cinema, the film presents backstage images, movie trailers, TV commercials, sequences from his films, and comments by relatives, actors, and scholars.'

Paul Schrader is the right director for that. He knew him personally and he was influenced by Peckinpah.

It's a shame Peckinpah had such a problem with drugs and alcohol during the latter half of his career. He was falling apart during what should have been his most productive years.

James Coburn was a brilliant actor. I loved his voice role of Mr. Waternoose in Monsters, Inc. (2001).

I recently talked to a coworker who is a little older than I (68) and this man never heard of Sam Peckinpah. Fame is simply an illusion.

You have to recommend him some Peckinpah movies. If he likes westerns he will love The Wild Bunch.

Perhaps but he is more of an old hippie type. He was surprised that I listen to hard rock. Sam would not appeal to him.@@RobinSchoutenRS

Who thought Peckinpah was famous enough for a layperson to know who he was, let alone known by someone you say wouldn't like his work?
