In his time yes, but Pope Francis has stated recently that "if anyone it is the communists who think like christians", praising communism for its attention to the poor and oppressed, for its embodiment of Christ's vision that the meek shall inherit the earth. Certainly there was some cold war drama with the church given the anti-religious nature of Soviet Marxism, but not all Marxists are Leninists and not all socialists are Marxists, I myself am devoutly religious. The church has made several mistakes as I will be the first to admit, but his holiness recently seems to have a favorable view of socialism- if not Marxism.

Sadly, the IWW is not what it used to be. The One Big Union tactict can only work if all unions are in solidarity and the IWW are minority amongst unions. Also, too much association with Antifa. I'd suggest Fred Thompsons book(s) on the history of IWW titled 'The Industrial Workers of the World: It's first 100 years' (or the older ones 'first 50 years', 'first 70 years')
