James Cotter's History of Exeter is a historical documentary presented by James Cotter. These mini historical documentaries will be about key and fascinating events in Exeter's wide-ranging and varied past.
The Fight For The Throne - James examines the role of Exeter and most importantly Danes Castle in a period of British history not as infamous as the periods that pasted before and after it but still as important in establishing Exeter as a key player in some of the most decisive events in British history including The Roman Invasion, The English Civil War and The Industrial Revolution. In the first episode of the series James looks at a period of history know as The Anarchy or The Nineteen-Year Winter where civil unrest swept across the country and The Norman King Stephen fought for his crown under a barge of chaos and rebellion from The Empress Matilda resulting in Exeters historic Rougemount Castle being sieged by the King himself in 1136.
