What I meant to say is that James Earl Jones gave us one of most Iconic/Unforgettable voices to one of the Best Star Wars Original Trilogy Characters ever. Yes I know that Star Wars was sold to Disney, but I'm talking about Episodes 4-6. When you hear Star Wars, you would most likely think of Darth Vader and his voice. Also RIP David Prowse (The physical movement actor for Darth Vader). So please don't be angry about my comment. I understand there are more Star Wars Actors who played very important roles in the Star Wars Trilogy and I know that a few more actors have sadly passed away and will not be forgotten, but all I am saying is that James Earl Jones and David Prowse made Darth Vader represent the true meaning of STAR WARS.

I think Lucas just regarded Prowse as a stunt man or body double or something, rather than taking him seriously as an actor. Do you have to speak the lines to be acting? There are plenty of silent characters in the films, such as Jason in Friday 13th, the guy in the Texas chainsaw massacre. Was Boris Karloff acting in Frankenstein? I'd say so...
Perhaps if Prowse hadn't gone and leaked spoilers for the big reveal in Empire to the press, Lucas would not have felt the need to be so hostile to him. Prowse was an oddball and a racist, complaining about the "obvious negro voice" of Jones which he resented being used to represent "his" character. It's no wonder he was unpopular.
I'm pretty sure they're not judging him for using the word negro, but for what he literally said. There's a huge difference between simply using the word negro as a synonym for black person and saying that somebody has an "obvious negro voice." Jones is using standard English. And saying that a voice is obviously a certain race is inherantly super racist. (ps, I don't actually know much about Prowse, just going by what I'm reading here, if he did say that)

James Earl Jones is one of my heroes. Much respect for him. I had similar issues with my voice as a boy. Reading and acting absolutely made a huge difference. Now I'm a professional voiceover artist and get compliments & attention every day for my voice...and I'm grateful for everything.
James Earl Jones landing the voice of Vader is a beautiful accident. I don't think there will ever be another Vader. It's gonna be tragic when he dies. But hopefully they can still use his voice for Vader in the future if need be. Because I think we can all agree he IS Darth Vader.

I met him many years ago. I've met many celebrities, and he was one of the nicest I've ever met. At the time he was doing the voice over for a well known commercial, and I imitated his voice and the way he said a certain phrase. He laughed in a genuine way, and as if no one had ever done that, although I was probably the 3000th person to have done that. I know he's over 90 now. I hope he is still enjoying life. May God always watch over him.
Returning to the role of DARTH VADER for Star Wars REBELS, he is a scene stealer. Siege of Lothal is classic Darth Vader, with the original powerful voice. We should seal him in a booth and have him read a dictionary . Wonderful actor!
