I’ve been collecting comic books for 40 years now and the I’m rapidly losing interest. This applies mainly to DC and Marvel, seems that the main focus is on the covers of the books , because the stories are way too confusing , poor writers , too many universes? Not sure who’s doing what and where? Plus too many reboots 🤦🏻♂️ modern day comics are not as collectible as some people might think …DC and Marvel need to rethink their approach….. In my opinion…..happy new year 🎉🥳
Indie comics are where it's at, in my opinion! I will say I believe DC is currently running circles around Marvel, but compared to the lineup at just Image alone I think they're way behind 👀
The premise might be dark, but this happens all the time in the real world. Many animal shelters in large metropolitan areas are kill shelters. This means that (like the book) if an animal is not adopted after a certain amount of time, they are euthanized. This is very common and a very sad thing to read about. If anyone is looking for a furry friend, seek these shelters out, especially if they have older cats/dogs. Those are usually the last candidates to be adopted and have the highest chance of being euthanized.
Yes. People often overlook the older animals that have ended up there because their owner can't care for them anymore, or people moved etc.Instead of getting a kitten, take in an older cat or dog and give them a good home for their final years.
First happy new year, and second, I don't know how Russ barely escaped the issue of man thing before today. Because now Russ reminds me of that ' Rock ' movie about that dude barely escape what appears to be the crew at the auto salvage yard. I only need to speak the same phrase ' atumu matambo, and a sacrifice when shopping there, which is usually updates about the latest man thing news and the possibility of a MCU appearance 😂😛👀❄️
Even if Taylor Swift plays Dazzler, she might be in the film for 5 minutes. In fact, that's likely because otherwise you'd have seen set photos or paparazzi if she were shooting for weeks. So it's a cameo, AT BEST. Something she shot in a day. With no plans for her to play the role in the future, if she would even have time or desire. If that really spikes the books, great. I have these myself.
Oh definitely. He sucks all the air out of every room he's in, and in my opinion, most of the X-Men movies have suffered from an over-reliance on his character. Having said that...by himself, or when used correctly as part of a team and not the main star...I'm coming around on Wolverine. And I'm STOKED to play the upcoming Wolverine PS5 game!
I think the Matt Reeves Batman movies should be grounded and realistic, because the Batman will be fantastical in the other James Gunn movies. Considering how many different versions of Batman there are in the comics, they need to appeal to multiple audiences at the same time. That's one things that has been frustrating with the MCU, we get one version of each character for 15 years. They should have been doing more animated stuff to cater to fans that want different takes on the characters, not in a multiverse or an episode of 'what if'.
Yes! Different versions, different actors. As an example there was a 4 issue miniseries from the late '80's called The Weird that I've thought would make a cool, and different take that hasn't been done yet. The Justice League are in it but not the main focus of the story. The same actors or big named actors wouldn't be needed. A one and done movie.
I totally agree! Russ is more down with the fantastical Batman, meanwhile if you catch me on the right day I'll tell you The Batman was my favorite comic book adaptation of all time 😂
hush, hush .....thought i heard her callin my name now,...... definitely worth a reread,...jim lees art was great,...and batman being 1 of my faves for sure, the book was an easy sell for me ...then and now.
Yeah I was always confused why that one wasn't in my high school English classes, like it was everybody else! I got 1984, though, and loved it...and yeah I really gotta just cross Animal Farm off the list already
Aquaman 35 is a book Im after. I like Black Manta. He is the best villain in Aquaman's rogues gallery. Justice League Dark is the version people want to see. All these foil facsimiles are a joke. I cant believe ppl buy that crap. I tried finding a JLI 12 in the dollar bins a couple of weeks ago. No dice. Maybe during the 3 for $1 sale.
Batman: Hush is good? Nah. The only good thing about it is the art. The story is GARBAGE. Jim Lee threw out his back carrying that story. Now "Heart of Hush" and "House of Hush"? That's the REAL GOLD stories that folks should read or pick up issues. You get gorgeous Dustin Nguyen art with Paul Dini writing it.
I will say that if you do Hush then I really hope they do bring the fantastical with it! Bring Joker and Harley! Bring Poison Ivy and Killer Croc! The Riddler hell yeah but also Clayface! I mean if you’re gonna tell a fantastic story then tell it with the flash that it deserves. Don’t dull it down or try to ground it to reality. I wanna see Batman almost beat Joker to death and then Jim Gordon threaten to shoot Batman!
Aquaman 2 was a solid last outing for the DCU. Black Manta was great in the film. Worth a watch in the theater but only once. If they don’t do Deadpool saving Taylor Swift, “The Bodyguard” style and saying “Dazzling performance Tay Tay” I’m going to stop buying Aviation Gin and burn my Wrexham jerseys! Happy New Year!!!
Isn't it ironic that Marvel and DC keep reprinting classic issues to help with their bottom line? Because, the current stuff isn't selling that well. Maybe if today's creators didn't have such a negative view of the past. The big 2 wouldn't have to rely on reprints, Variants and gimmick covers.
Clayface would be an awesome addition to the DC movie line. I think though you would need a character or two more to team up with him to take on Batman!
Happy New Year, guys. For what it's worth, I enjoyed the slighty slapdash feel and chemistry between just the two of you - you got a lot o' heart. As for Batman villians, WB are going to go tried and tested - it doesn't make sense commercially to take risks after the way the DCEU has wrapped up. You also have the evidence of the Nolan trilogy, The Batman and Joker all going grounded, and making serious money. I can't see why they would have an appetite to go CGI-heavy with Batman, especially with the precedent set - the people will expect consistency of feel.
I love the David Mack cover on that Daredevil 9. Worth owning for that alone. I thought about selling my copy, but I can't, just really love looking at the details on the cover in my hands.
Dear God, keep him in the closet and throw away the key. I’ll take all Russ and Fire Guy Ryan all day. Ah, just kidding, (kinda?). I like the comic Tomster too and hope he had a great two-day vacation. Now Get Back To Work!
Pattinson Batman 2, Mr. Freeze and Calendar Man. I think with Calendar Man would make Batman 2 darker as the first movie with a twist of 'SEVEN, Silenced of the Lambs and Along Came A Spider', type of crime mystery murder suspense film which can work within in that dynamic with Batman. Intresting Wild Thing daughter of Wolverine #1 1999, was mentioned, not many people are in talks of the comic or speculating. And not to be confused with Wild Thing #1 1993 Marvel U.K. Nice review.
I'm more cautiously, hesitating-ly optimistic. Daredevil on Netflix was my favorite thing based on a Marvel comic, and a lot of the introduction of that street level MCU stuff is gonna happen in Echo, so...we'll see 🤞🏻
I buy the JLI 12 regularly. Bought a chunk recently. Not the graded one. My reason - NOT because of Maxwell Lord. Didn't technically know it was Max's first cover - never really thought about it. 100% because it's 'Ice's' first appearance for me. Same with Fire's first appearance in, I think, Super Friends 25. Boosters first appearance in Booster Gold 1. Guy's first appearance, getting soon, in silver age Green Lantern 59, and Ted Kords first in Captain Atom (Charlton) 83. Got a 4.0 of that - intending to get a better one. A chunk of the JLI 12s are me - it's only because of Ice.
Dazzler # 1 lol I have noticed Dazzler back issues are getting picked up from my bins though. Not in huge numbers but ppl are buying the $4 and $6 books.
Boycott Tom King! He sucks! I won’t read anything he writes after he butchered Batman for over 70 issues! He killed Alfred and don’t get me started on the wedding debacle!
