Don’t just accept Grace’s speculation as being spot on. Sources elsewhere state that Zazlov(?) made the call to blow it up after Black Adam crash and burned, he was not happy and that was the last straw. In this case, Gunn is being forced to replace Cavill and take the brunt of the blowback for Zazlov’s decision. Who knows, but Grace’s speculation is just that… speculation.

Gunn was just hired. WB-Discovery is a public company; they can't secretly hire/fire executives of significant subsidiaries months before public knowledge. Plus I feel like Henry's superman return was really contingent on The Rock's Black Adam universe. And it looks like Gunn is really going in a different direction.

@Bernard Knoll well we found out the motive of Cavill & it was never that Superman shit that made no sense... Cavill quit Witcher to do a massive deal involving his girlfriend of several years to start the Warhammer 40k universe for Amazon. Cavill is going to star & executive produce on the 40k show and Cavill girlfriend is the executive at Vertigo who is the production company that is getting the Warhammer 40k rights from Games Workshop that Amazon is going to purchase. Vertigo is getting the TV & Film rights

@Bernard Knoll Superman would have been a fun side project cause Cavill enjoys playing Superman & his fans love him as Superman... but losing Superman is meaningless since he is going to up to his neck building Warhammer 40k. It's also possible that was the story Henry tells to appear heroic to his fans, when in the background it really was about the money and/or desire for Hollywood stardom. We'll never really know, but I totally understand the desire to believe him.

The ONLY thing Gunn did that was good was Guardians of the Galaxy and Dawn of The Dead. Peacemaker was OK. Brightburn, Belko Experiment, Guardians 2, The Suicide Squad and that Christmas special was BS. He hasn't really shown consistency as far as good writing.

39 is not old plus it's on WB for waiting so long their fault not Cavills. Robert Downy Jr didn't have to wait nearly a decade to get a sequel only to still be denied it he had 2 solo films even before the big team up Henry had to share his film with Ben as Batman and Gal as Wonder Women. Grace hates Henry Cavill for some reason anyway don't ask me why I think she fancys him?... At the end of it all the shared universe was a mess to begin with so many ideas and people green lighting different projects and no focus and so many bad decisions. At the end of it all WB and DC done Henry dirty and that's the end of it I wish him well and hope the current films coming out flop and James Gunns new DC too. I won't be watching DC films anymore.

If I was working for 15 years to make a movie I would personally then respect the source material. Cutting Shazam? Out of Black Adam? He dug his own grave.

The problem with a lot of old DCEU fans (I'm one as well) is that they rather let Warner be buried in dept but release a couple movies that will certainly not be profitable, just so that a really, really small section of people are happy, than to take their time to develop a solid slate of movies to hopefully make WB big again and be able to continue fund solo movies like Batman and Joker, while helping the DC brand stand tall next to Marvel for this new generation.

I will admit I was psyched when I heard Michael Keaton was coming back as Batman for The Flash. That, I do want to see. And I would've loved a Batman Beyond with Keaton as the older Bruce Wayne. Shame that won't be happening, I thought maybe even Tim Burton could come back to direct.

@@BeyondTheTrailer Here's what I think James Gunn should do with the DCU: Create a trilogy of Superman movies similar to what Matt Reeves is doing except in a lighter tone. They are in 2 different DC cities/states so it is not necessary to have them interact right away. Just because they exist in their own "world" doesn't mean they can't coexist in the same universe. Similarly, do the same with Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash, etc and have them deal with their own supervillains in their respective geographic locations for at least their first two movies. Batman can then recruit them individually, with brief cameo in their third movies, bringing them together for the Justice League in the space tower to deal with existential threats that these heroes can't handle by themselves. They can still reference the existence of the other superheroes without actually making a cameo like Matt Reeves did with citizens in Gotham wearing Halloween costumes of other heroes. That will build the anticipation more for the audience to want to see some crossovers and big Justice League movie and makes more sense than finding a file, he stole from Lex Luthor, with folders on them because Batman would already be aware of them and be building a contingency plan before bringing them all together.
