James Gunn is a complete hack who can only push out a decent movie with the one thing we usually wouldn't like for many obvious reasons-studio interference. He basically turns everything into a self-parody-I can't imagine the david ayer cut of Suicide Squad being put next to "The Goofy/Suicide Squad" and the giant "wtf?" not being obvious, as such I can see that as the cuts that are readily available now. The guy was more into mocking Scooby Doo than making the film, noticeable stuff cut out but still made Scrappy the villain, I mean I think it was a good adaptation and actually good stuff that would've made it well rounded was cut out (Velma and Daphne got too much cut yet Daphne is mocked the entire film and none of that was funny). Same with "Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.1" though I have to argue "I am groot" gets old really fast. The sequel was flaming garbage, and I have zero faith in the 3rd-I was hoping someone else would do it. Even with the MCU phase 4 mess I hoped for a better sequel that didn't do a Taika Watiti and crap all over the lore and story like "Guardians Vol. 2" did. As for his other stuff, it's Sam Gerald "I Don't Care" cause it's never good. This hack has climbed literally to the top and represents basically everything wrong with the modern industry, he should've been dumped and only doing his own stuff after GuardiansVol.2, it's better but garbage is still garbage if you compare it to "Thor 4. Of course some people are watching "Peacemaker" doesn't change that John Cena is AWFUL unless he's playing a military man (like the bumblebee transformers film) and the gross digusting nonsense said about the justice leaque and endless stupid jokes and fake dollar store blood. #FireJamesGunn #ReleaseTheAyerCut #DavidAyersSuicideSquad #JohnCenaCantAct #RestoreTheSynderVerse #BoycottWB #Peacemakerishotgarbage #FireTaikaWatiti4evertoo
Couldn't agree more as usual. I never made it to GOTG vol. 2 because I didn't even enjoy the first one. It just seems like his personal feelings towards these characters are constantly infiltrating the movie itself and the result it deconstruction of the Superhero in the most cringy way possible.
@@jeffcunningham0389 keep on shilling for the one trick pony guy. I admit I enjoyed guardians 3 but it's still clearly a MCU formulaic film that tried something darker the previous didnt cause it was just one big joke. Seems more like they followed the infinity war style of less silliness but still in character. #reboottheMCU #everythingwoketurnstoshite
@@oneandonlysound3453 if u call someone a shill u already lost the argument. U literally just said u enjoyed his last movie, which btw was the last good mcu film in a while, so clearly its due to his writing/directing abilities. There was nothing mcu/formulaic about that film. Its very much a Gunn film.
THe MCU definitely took lots of it's pointless added humor to many other franchises it doesn't and it all wreaks of Gunn and Whedon (the latter far past prime or forgetting buffy was a teenager not a 30+ something dude). At least until the taika thor era (gg why). Also a suprisingly serviceable sequel isn't a career saver, though if anything he should go back to Marvel and get away from Superman. Reboot or not, that match makes zero sense. Heck i'd make more sense if he was rebooting Flash, and he doesn't need to be in charge of such a thing either. In any case if "Legacy" is good, I hope they don't not learn and just let him do whatever if one hit comes through. GOTG2 is unwatchable drivel. The worst MCU film b4 phase 4 started at least. In any case I get it your a james gunn fan, but people are just tired of the same brand of humor in everything and he's one of the ones still doing it front and center.
Zack Snyder couldn't make a good movie to save his life, his DC movies were just ok. The guy has a great visual style but when it comes down to him writing a movie, a 5 year old could do a better job.
@@JG-hd2fp funny of you to use this kind of sick joke on me when you really look at the guy you're defending. Or maybe no you are exactly the type of person who would be his fan.
I would say you nailed that description, juvenile and cringe. I have to admit, I liked Peacemaker a lot more than I thought I would. But I just don’t see him leading the DCU into a stronger position.
Yep once I heard the news that James Gunn was the head of dc it didn’t sit right with me as there are far better people to be head of dc then James Gunn and Peter Safaron. They aren’t getting any of my money
@@REELSHIFT WB is still not learning from their mistakes after hiring Joss Whedon and James Gunns the suicide squad being a massive flop. It’s ridiculous that we dc fans have to keep up with this BS from WB still refusing to listen to the fans and trying to still play catch-up with marvel.
The Suicide Squad was pure garbage ... I turned it off halfway through it was so bad ... I did the same trying to watch Guardians of the Galaxy .... I enjoyed Slither .. but that movie was a completely different animal. This guy has no business directing these classic characters and stories. What is WB thinking putting this guy in charge.
Pretty much why I like Tim Burton's Batman. You can still have humor. When you put it that way, then EVERY idea of fictional story and characters are "silly". Like, "no shit". I've always felt as a creative is to immerse your audience into the world/society you've created. Not make a show that just points out hero, villain, story convention. I'd find a story about 4 ninjitsu using reptiles fighting a ruthless ninja overlord more interesting than a show where the characters are realizing their whole premise is stupid.
This right here. You couldn't even trust James Gunn to make a decent turtles movie, something that without any jokes would actually feel very off. I prefer the tone of the 1990 film over any (though I have to say 2 and out of the shadows are undsrrrated), Gunn would make one like 3 but only everything wrong with it none of the decent or good parts.
Creativity today is like putting sugar on a piece of shit and getting upset that no one likes it. Like Idc if some popular chef made it, there is only so much that an actor can do with a bad script. Like there’s only so much a chef can do when given literal dog shit to work with
As someone who likes James Gunn's work. I think much of what you said is very true. I enjoyed the suicide squad but as for Peacemaker, I feel like the comedy in the show was a bit forced. Don't get me wrong, I like funny comedic moments in films but not when it's so penetrated into a show/film. I still like Peacemaker but if you're going to make something comedic, at least make it FUNNY.
As if the military dont use camouflage, soldiers, or warriors. ( ninjas ect )Batman does tjat to disguise his appearance. , and thor literally is a god , and superman is god like
Next DC films will probably have some dumb joke writte like "Well, that just happens" or "He is right behind me isn't" or any dumb pointless make up name such as like "Batman? That got to be the dumbest name I ever heard" Incoming Superhero fatigue
Sigh I’m just worried he’s gonna ruin the next years of dc cuz if this fails then we will have to start over again even tho Snyder didn’t fail for me but for most people it did I just don’t wanna be waiting anymore I want dc films to be coming out consistently like marvels.
You are simply too based, take my like. I share your opinion for Gunn. I hate his juvenile humor and Waititiness. And as far as his new... DC Project? I just hope Tom Cruise has more projects up his sleeve.
I'm not really saying this to defend Gunn, but I think he was trolling when he said those things. Now that he's producing the DC movies, my hope is that he is self-aware enough to know which projects he is good for and for which he isn't, like Superman. The projects he would probably gravitate towards will be the lesser known and sometimes quirky characters, like Bat-Mite. If DC Studios is smart, they should aim for a shared universe, without altogether copying the MCU Phase 1-3. But until they unveil their plans for the DCU, I think it is still too early to tell how things will go.
The fact that he may have been trolling just makes me dislike him more. I feel the same way about Taika's trolling. I hope you are right and he does have some level of self awareness, but based on his track record i doubt it. We'll see I guess.
And Gunn is WRITING Superman now. He wasn't trolling. Him and Waititi (and even Joss Whedon) are the same kind of people. They can't take anything seriously. They are completely the wrong people for the big superheroes.
@@abonny those 3 guys have all made top 10 superhero films so i think they have a clue what they’re doing. Josss whedons avengers is far better than any DCEU film. So is GOTG and Thor Ragnarok
Top of the morning 216 how is the family mines is good but I was just wondering if u ever saw James Gunn movie Slither but I do agree his take on Superhero movies is very dark and is the last person to be in charge of the DCU. But you know what I think he would make a good ass action director just a thought but I wish WB would have thought of someone else
That doesn’t really surprised me. The Guardians of the Galaxy in Marvel aren’t really comic accurate but was well received. I’ve just been burned by DC so many times, Zack Snyder bastardizing Batman and Superman, Walter Hamada producing and green lighting films like Birds of Prey and Wonder Woman 84, and the studio meddling in projects such as Justice League and caving into a small minority of toxic fans who wanted a recut that didn’t exist. DC brought out the worst of people.
Disagree on the Zack snyder front, he clearly took the characters seriously even if he made changes that some people didn't like... The rest of DC outside of The Batman and Joker has been a dumpster fire yes
@@REELSHIFT Snyder only made them edgy and dark not really serious. Avengers Infinity War has a serious plot and a dark ending but none of them ever said I’ll F-into murder you to Thanos. Only focusing on Superman’s power and presence in the modern world and making Batman a killer because it’s cool. The Justice League his Justice League seem alright with killing in situations where they didn’t need to.
@@LuisSanchez-by7mh I disagree. I think it's a common misconception that he did things just to be edgy. Batman being wreckless was part of his story as was the more unconventional take on Superman. It was all building to the Batman/Superman we know & deserve (every other on screen Batman has killed also btw)... And was also leading to both characters rediscovering the hero in them. I think audiences are just mostly impatient, he was taking the scenic route with their development. Imo.
@@REELSHIFT Batman wasn’t reckless in BVS he was straight up murdering people intentionally, and sentencing people to be murdered in prison. The very thing fought against and him being judge, jury, and executioner is the very thing that Batman is against. Superman is given a god complex in the movies, even though he said he was never a god or trying to be god the camera as being a god even though has never thought himself as a god. He really disconnects with the people of Earth. I admit if a Superman were to exist in the real world he would not trusted and questioned by everybody but having a “character” not power fantasy like Superman would deconstruct the paranoia of humanity by connecting with humanity instead of being a savior. The entire has kinda been a retelling of Jesus Christ with Superman pasted over him. Which Superman is not Jesus, Superman will go out if his way to save anyone he could and not only save but empower them I don’t judge a movie of what could’ve been or by what was being set up I judge how it is and the Superman in the previous films hasn’t acted like Superman even if they were. Also if Superman was rediscovering himself then how is it rediscovering if he’s just starting as a hero? It should discovering who and what Superman means to Clark and everyone on Earth. His actions are altruistic instead of an obligation instead he’s reluctant, cold, and disconnected not the Superman we deserve because he never got a chance to discover because he stupidly died in the second movie and practically nobody cared. Batman seems like he doesn’t care for life or even care about the pain he’s causing to people he quote unquote saved by killing criminals, he’s just as bad as the man who killed I know he’s old veteran Batman but that’s makes him no than the punisher a cold killing machine. Yes he’s killed in past films but Christian Bale lunged at Harvey Dent to save a child, he didn’t grab a gun and just shot Harvey in the face. Keaton’s Batman was a new introduction in the late 80’s where comic book films weren’t that big in the main stream so liberties were taken. But in this era of comic book films people are generally harsher and more prone to the history of the characters and their portrayal on screen. Almost fans were not taken to a murderous psychotic Batman and ultimately rejected it. That didn’t seem to stop him in the Snyder Cut where Batman was threatening to kill the Joker. He seemed to fall back to his murderous ways in the end. I probably will never like Snyder’s vision for the characters, I’m not one of those comic puritans either, i see the movies for what it is and I just don’t like what I see and his vision is not something I can vibe with especially if the endgame is evil Superman again then I’m done watching these movies.
@@LuisSanchez-by7mh To me it was a breath of fresh air the way he humanized Superman. He has to learn his place in this new world that is rejecting him.... And Batman had been doing what he does so long that he lost his way. Only after they fight eachother and form a connection and then Superman sacrifices himself does Batman realize the error of his ways. It's under rated stuff imo. Would've loved to see the complete vision.
It wasn't good either, and the disgusting jokes about the justice leaque were just total cringe, went from Gunn to Taika Waititi levels of awful there.
