The thing that 2K has always been terrible at is how they determine difficulty. They seem to think that making you and your teammates worse and the opponent better makes sense, but that's just stupid, not to mention rage inducing. While the game is not truly a realistic simulation, it is, and should be based in reality. So if your opponents get better and play at a higher level, so should your teammates. Should it be harder to hit a green release? Yes. Should you be penalized for not running a set play correctly? Yes. Should you not shoot 80% from the field? Yes you should not. But having your team completely blow defensive assignments, turning the ball over constantly, missing open lay-ups and wide open jumpers, while the worst players on the other team are popping contested 3s all day long isn't fun. And it's a colossal waste of time to grind out an entire season where you dominate the league only to be unrealistically blown out in the playoffs by teams you crush in the regular season. I mean, why even bother having player ratings if the players abilities mean nothing come playoff time? There's got to be a better way other than this scripted BS.
