I've known that Dave had cancer in his throat, but didn't hear about what type of cancer until this video. I'm recovering from my 2nd surgery due to this same type of cancer. Squamous Cell Carcinoma is usually very treatable if caught early enough. From what i've learned if it hasn't spread into deeper tissue the survival rate is around 98% or better. Now if it has started to spread the survival rate is almost zero, regardless of how aggressive treatment is. I had my cancer in my foot and I thought it was a callous. I had it for at least 3 years, before a doctor thought it could be cancerous. So I had a partial amputation of my right foot. It had worked itself into the bone. They also had to remove 2 Lymph Nodes in my groin because it was trying to spread. Luckily it hadn't become cancerous and as of right now I'm cancer free. The reason I'm sharing this is because I know there are a ton of people out there that care about Dave and want to know about his illness. Well if I can beat it as bad as mine was, Dave should come out of this just fine. So I believe there is a lot of hope for a complete recovery. We Love you Dave, and we're all praying for you.

When man as controvertial, judging and honest as Dave Mustaine says, such warm words about someone that he hated for so many years, I guess we can believe, that James gave him really incredible support

I knew James Hetfield reached out. People were angry with him for not offering support to Dave Mustaine. These guys have history. Good or bad, they are brothers. One thing about human beings, who as a species can be pretty f'n awful to each other, is regardless of where we come from, when a fellow human is in trouble or going through a difficult situation we immediately spring into action to help and console. I applaud you Mr. Hetfield was standing up. God bless you both and lots of luck with your respective recoveries.

Just like we had Black Sabbath Dio era, and Ozzy Osbourne. You got to give it to them both. You can like one band over the other, that’s ok, but you’ve gotta see genuine friendship for what it is. They care about each other, and I don’t believe James ever wanted Megadeth to fail, and vice verse. Of course there was hard feelings, but they don’t need to prevent people from being kind to one another. It takes a lot to become better than you once where before, and wallowing in hard feelings is never healthy either.

I'm so glad these two were able to bury the hatchet. Both are absolute legends in the metal community, and seeing them reconnecting after so many years of bad blood just gives me a really warm feeling. Just goes to show that no matter what drama may happen between two people, time AND effort can heal all wounds. I wish Dave a speedy and successful recovery. While I would LOVE more music from him, just knowing he is healthy and happy is enough for me. God bless you, Dave!

Hope his cancer wasn’t as progressed as mine. I also had base of tongue cancer. They removed 60%. I’m left with a speech impediment, can’t swallow and will never eat food by mouth again. I had to have a radical neck surgery to have the cancer removed. Chemo did absolutely nothing but nearly killed me. I pray that Dave recovers quickly and has a good quality of life and his speech is not affected. It will take some time for his recovery. Godspeed, Dave.

I met Dave on the "rust in peace" tour when I was 16. I asked for an autograph, being the young dumb kid that I was... he looked at me, rolled his eyes and politely told me to f*ck off! That happened during Testament's set, so when Dave and co. came on stage I went for snacks. I'm standing in line and I hear..."What's wrong? You don't like Megadeth?" I turned around and there's Chuck Billy grinning at me. I told Chuck what happened and he informed me that no one actually likes Dave, but he's the boss. Everyone hates the guy. The crew, the opening bands, and even his own band. Especially Ellefson. He also said that Nick Menza was yelling at Dave earlier that afternoon. I brought along a white t-shirt for autographs which Chuck signed. He told me to wait, and walked away with my shirt. 10 minutes later he came back and handed me my shirt, signed by TESTAMENT! Chuck was all class! Hey Dave...karma's a b*tch isn't it?
