@@brandonherd9153 Not NBA players though. Even Tony G. who played in college would not have cut it in the NBA. Austin overstated but the thought that the athleticism in the NBA you could not develop some NBA players into NFL players is not far fetched. Now would they stick in the league with the physicality probably not. If you flip it you probably could not find a lot NFL players good enough skill and size wise to play in the NBA. Austin overstated it and had he said it like I said using the "developed" word then nobody has an issue.
@brandonherd9153

I think NBA players could transition way easier than people think. Almost all NFL players would rather play in NBA where you make more money, guaranteed contracts and don’t get hurt as much. They just aren’t good enough. I think only argument is they didn’t dedicate their lives to basketball like NBA players did but I really do think they weren’t good enough at basketball and had to play football because it’s easier. I get the physicality aspect but not every NBA player and basketball players are soft. That’s all I’m saying. That’s every football fan and NFL players argument is we would hit you one time and you would never get back on that field. You couldn’t last 1 training camp or you’d die. Antonio gates made the final four in basketball and averaged 20-10 and also played football. He chose football and became a hall of famer. Not a role player or specialist. Hall of famer. One of the best TEs to ever play. If he made NBA he would be 15th best on a team maybe. That’s equivalent to a football player choosing basketball and being one of the best point guards in NBA history. You don’t have to shoot as much just pass and play great defense.

I do agree with Austin. Just not on the quantity, maybe like 5 NBA players. First person that came to mind was Zion Williamson, then maybe Aaron Gordon or Anthony Edwards. A prime LeBron for sure, but like LeBron's living proof of human evolution so that goes without saying! The fact that Antonio Gates a college basketball player made it to the NFL without ever playing college football. I can't think of a case where the opposite's ever happened; a college football player with no college basketball making it to the NBA.
@whitebelt2905
@whitebelt2905 22 дня назад
@@herschelpatel7115 You missed the point of my argument. Playing football is about being mentally tough enough. Zion is the last person that could play in the NFL. Dude can’t even last a full season in NBA and doesn’t even have the discipline to avoid McDonalds. Gives no effort on defense and is underwhelming as a rebounder. Edwards seems mentally capable. Lebron???? Dude is one of the softest crybabies in the league. He wouldn’t last a game in the NFL. Antonio Gates was only ONE player. He’s the exception. Playing in the NBA requires more fine motor skills developed over years of playing compared to say playing TE.

Rivers does have a point. It would be easier for a NBA player with football attributes (size, speed, athleticism) to make the NFL than it would be for an NFL player to make the NBA. You can't be a one dimensional player in the NBA. Like TO was a good basketball player, but couldn't shoot. At 6'1, it's a requirement to be able to shoot to play in the NBA. AI was an all state football player. He only chose basketball because he could go pro sooner. Most guys with that type of athleticism can be pros. But the skillset in the NBA is what separates it from the NFL...

There was a college ball player last name “Bright” who took the SAT 15 times so he can play ball and he failed to get the minimum.

There is a clear middle ground where both of these sides are correct. There are more athletes in the NBA who COULD have played in the NFL if they decided too than vice versa (because of height). I personally believe it is because they didn’t think they could make nba but thought they could nfl. What he said about just being able to join team and have success is stupid. But NBA athletes are crazy. Only sport with height requirement basically. People 6’6 with 40 in verts that are crazy skilled. Even Ray Lewis sayed lot of gaurds would be amazing WRs. Being able to be like Kryie Irving his moves and jukes he would have DBs spinning. Almost All football DBs are under 6ft and NBA players are crazy athletes with 6 inches on them. Come on. People keep saying that Gonzalez and Gates prove that Austin Rivers was right. Tony G averaged 6.4 points a game at Cal. Antonio Gates didn't even have a draft grade for the NBA. NBA players and overall basketball players have the skill sets to be safeties corners receivers, but there is not a single NBA player that could put on pads and a helmet and last a full training camp. The same goes for NFL guys, they wouldn't be able to last in the shoot around in practice playing against guys sitting on the bench. I agree with Brou that if you gave some people from both leagues and entire year and off-season to choose a position workout and practice they could make a roster, but you can't simply just go from one pro-sport to another over night.
