I have a bad habit of making a weird face when I mess up. Not rlly the best thing during an exam or concert, that makes it even more obvious that I did smthng wrong 😂😂
1:48 When you’ve mastered the trumpet and are too lazy to learn new fingerings This is a joke, this man has probably mastered every instrument in the brass family
0:00 Martin Trumpet 0:12 Marching Baritone 0:41 Bass Trumpet 0:52 European Baritone (NOT a Wagner Tuba as some people might think- mouthpiece is too big and he's playing it with his right hand) 1:28 Mellophone 1:47 Valve Trombone 1:59 Ophicleide 2:23 Hunting Horn (I think) 2:35 Double-belled American Baritone 3:04 Double-belled Trumpet 3:36 Soprano Trombone 4:00 G Bass Trombone (notice the handle and length of the instrument) 4:14 Cavalry Trombone (A 6 valved Belgian marching instrument made by Adolph Sax)
James instantly masters anything once he gets a column of air vibrating through it! The sound I enjoy are the flute tones I get when blowing across the bottom holes of the horn valves
On the Double-belled euphonium, he instantly went to “Stomping at the Savoy”, and I knew he loved John Allred’s recording of that tune like I do! He played basically a transcription of the opening lines of Mr. Allred’s playing!
I love when he is playing the march on the valve trombone which sounded so valiant and triumphant and then he gets excited by an instrument that sounds like moaning
2:10 When valves weren't invented yet, that instrument is what was used to hit low bass notes that tubas play today. Obviously by the sound of the playing, it wasn't very useful and only lasted a very short time. Then valves came and soon after, tubas, which quickly replaced that instrument.
3:27 my friend, as a horn player, says it's bad enough sitting in front of the first trumpets, but if this was in our band, he would be sitting right in front of it, and it would just be hell.
being a history nerd, i looked at this, thinking it said james madison, clicked, and was a bit disappointed that it wasnt about james madison. now im just amazed at all these instruments
