The IDF has apologised for making a ‘grave mistake’ after seven aid workers were killed in an Israeli airstrike on Monday.
Among the seven aid workers killed, three were from the UK. They've been named as former Royal Marines Jim Henderson, 33, John Chapman, 57, as well as ex-soldier James Kirby, 47.
The workers were killed while travelling in marked vehicles as part of the World Central Kitchen's (WCK) charity convoy on Gaza’s coastal road in Deir Balah, central Gaza.
James O'Brien gives his take on the situation and concludes that "you can no longer pretend not to believe that everybody in Gaza is a target."

I'm livid that 15,000 dead children didnt spark this level of media/political interest as 7 dead brave people who volunteered to go into a war zone. Did they not hear the recording of 6 year old Hind Rajab. Did that harrowing call not deserve the worlds media attention? I find this moral relativism to be beyond despicable.

Abraham Wyner from Wharton did an analysis and noted that Hamas’ Ministry of Health death/casualty information is statistically impossible. I’ll ask you this - if Hamas can tell you how many children died, why can it not confirm how many members of its own combatant forces have died?

My thoughts exactly. While the outrage is warranted absolutely, it’s shockingly obvious that the outrage is selective. If the individuals happen to be natively european or english then there is empathy. But when the individuals were children no empathy was necessarily offered.

They told the IOF 'hi, we're non combatants, we're here to deliver aid, is that okay?' And the IOF said 'sure go for it, we've registered your details and know who and where you are.' Then the convoy travelled far apart to minimise collateral damage in case one got hit, and the IOF hit all of them directly.

After the first vehicle was hit by a missile, they called the IDF coordination people to say they were aid workers under attack. They moved the injured from the first vehicle to the second. Then the second vehicle was hit some distance from the other two vehicles. They again moved survivors to vehicle three. That was then hit and killed the remaining aid workers. Between the first strike and the third we know time elapsed, as they were moving injured between vehicles. That gave the coordinators plenty of time to radio through to stop the attack.

I heard today that Israel had announced that the aid workers were attacked because it was thought that a terrorist was on board one of the vehicles. If so the act was INTENTIONAL not unintentional as Netanyahu claimed. Either way IF the intent is to stop any attempt to prevent starvation in Gaza that objective has been achieved. Makes nonsense of the Israeli claim that "its not us preventing aid its the UN". Yeah right.

According to doctors, American and British doctors (if that makes more believable) the IDF are actively sniping Palestinian children in the head. Children who are not in areas where anyone else got shot. Most, and sadly I would say the lucky ones, die but some survive a bullet to the brain. For those who would defend Israel and claim this anecdotal, it has been reported with the photos of the surviving children, lying in a vegetive state in hospital, in the Guardian.

Let's also ignore the fact that attack on the aid convoy was a multiple missile strike on 3 vehicles spanning about 1.5km and you think that somehow, multiple attacks on the same vehicles, clearly labelled as aid vehicles, who had coordinated with the IDF, not only that they were making an aid run, but agreed the time and route, was a mistake. So it was just a 'mistake' an oopsie, just one of those pesky things that happens, murdering 7 innocent civilians, in the words, tone and implication of the Toymaker... well that's alright then!

The enemy can clearly mark themselves as paramedics as a way to hide themselves from attack.. what does appear to be the case is something went wrong along the chain of command …whether it’s a war crime or not is for a court to determine not some journo lackey.. so my short answer is it is more likely this was a tragic accident (friendly fire scenario) rather than a deliberate intentional attack on innocent people

As far as the International Court of Justice case - Hamas (as a terrorist group) are not a state, so are not signed up to the Geneva Conventions. Israel, however, is a state, and is a signatory, therefore they should follow the rulings of the UNSC.

Having watched this tragedy unfold over several decades from a neutral perspective, there is wrong-doing on both sides .... but the over heavy handed brutality handed out by the IDF repeats over and over and over again. And as Netanyahu's armies fire on anything and anyone they create the hatred towards them that guarantees Hamas will not be short of replacements , and so the future bloodshed is inevitable
