If you look at the number of properties vs the amount of annual funding they get (~$1.1billion), the ABC is basically a forced netflix subscription for every household in the country, regardless of whether it's watched or not - just wasteful. It definitely needs its public funding cut and its online iview offering moved to a subscription based model so that people who want to watch it can pay for it themselves. I disagree that it should be completely subscription based.

In all fairness , it is a journalist job to extract information. I am a supporter of Dutto / Littleproud. The Coalition has a great team with lots of experience. And they make sense during interviews. Vote out Labor, make them a 1 term wonder . It will take them at least 2 terms in opposition to recover. 👍🇭🇲🦘
I find it really frustrating. Honestly, some of the topics broached in the interview are complex, nuanced, important, and really very interesting. Journalists sabotage the interviews and the potential understanding of their audiences by pursuing 'gotcha' moments. Paterson is very interesting, he has a broad range of knowledge on some of the most important issues, challenges, and topics we currently face as a nation. This time could have been much better utilised, and if Speers was smarter (or less inclined to pursue his own agendas), he'd change his style.

David Speers as a senior presenter for the ABC needs to set aside his own personal political views about what is going on in the Middle East and just ask straight forward questions. Senator James Paterson was direct and articulate in his replies to the questions asked of him by Mr Speers.

David Speers your understanding of ASiO and National security is based on level at best. ASIO is not a separate entity to the Australian government and still has to answer to the Australian government and impose its will. The current Australian government removed ASIO from aspects of high level government meeting such as immigration and only allowed ASIO attend meetings on case by case basis. David Speers you need to ask the current government that question as no other government in Australian history has removed our intelligence agency from high level government meetings.
