I remember that evening in May 1973, setting up a tape recorder beside the T.V and holding the mic to the television speaker for the entire show, of course pausing it for the ad breaks. Sounds like a simple operation, but it was an evening show and my Mam, Dad, and five siblings were all in the front room for the entire time. There's bits where doors are opening and closing, even slammed, and me shouting at them to keep quiet. This was long before VCRs were available. I still have that 45 mins of mayhem too.
I remember my dad, my big brother and me all gathering by the TV to watch this. Great stuff...still. Just beautiful. Great memories here, especially when I realize that my father, my mother and big brother have all passed away now. I know they'd love to watch this again. Even though it made my father sad when Paul's piano blew up. I think he said; "why did they wreck that perfectly good piano for?"
Haha, Yup I did the exact same thing. "shut up you guys, im recording" with the portable tape recorder positioned just below the TV speaker. I was eight years old - it was the only copy of Little Woman Love I had for years.
Just for all the haters. This was a 1973 "family" special made for English TV (picked up by NHK), back in the days when families watched TV together. Hold that thought as you watch "Mary Had a Little Lamb" and elderly people on the street singing Beatles songs. Color TV was still relatively new and Paul threw this together on top of everything else. TV didn't have a lot of slick moves back then. Don't jump on it with your 21st Century standards! At least it was live!
I just absolutely love paul and Linda's lifestyle. Living out in the country with their kids & a bunch of animals. I hope for that kind of love with a girl someday
Paul McCartney will always be the best SINGER, MUSICIAN, BEATLE, SONG WRITER, And will forever alone have more hit songs than anyone ever. Nobody will ever compare to him. i love everything he has ever done.
Qué lindos recuerdos 😍 Paul ❤ qué haces qué no tengo tú número de WhatsApp para poder hablar con vos estabas extrañando extraño que me atiendas por Whatsapp es Movistar
What makes this such a CLASSIC is it's done "live" on a stage, just the guys and the string section ( My Love ) , no phony tape delay and other tricks of the trade. It takes Balls. This is old school and Paul's got the stones to do it !! Better now than when it was on free TV, well done.
Remember the specail back in 73. Love this period. 70's period of all Beatles Solo work. Paul rocking a mullet . Bowie did. Why not? Got some gems. The Mess. Long Tall Sally. Uncle Albert footage. Never seen it. So cool. Missing was the Acoustic set. Bluebird Michelle Heart of the Country. Paul can do it All. Paul can play it All. A modern day Mozart. Live and Let Die revealed for the first time. Awesome. I remember watching this as a kid. Loved it. Paul is in fine form for sure.
@@lucasneon Sorry, I don't. I was 15 years old at that time. I know I made some pictures with a Kodakcamera. I think my brother must have them. I never saw them again since that time. The pictures are originals; taken from the second row in the theatre.
Paul's love of 30s dance band days. His father had a small such band & as a child he grew up with it's influences on Beatles & solo/Wings songs. From Honey Pie to many more after the break up.
Everyone has "the age of glory". It was a program that was watched at a good timing. Surely NHK's "Young Music Show" At that time, I telephoned the program and said, "I want to record on a radio cassette re-broadcast, I remember nostalgic things. About two years ago when Sony released Betamax. In those years all was "the age of glory".
My love was my favorite song growing up in the 60s and it still is. Paul and John both wrote beautiful love songs. I was 10 years old when the song Uncle Albert came out, brings back the best memories boy I loved that song.
Me listening mow. September 26, 2024. Best to them, who listening this music today. After Beatles my most famous song from Wings was: Silly love songs. Many years listening every morning before working day and i am going to my working place with good mood. 😊. Best regards from Russia🇷🇺!!!
The acoustic part, the photos set... Michelle, Bluebird, Heart of the country..... is missing, but something is true, the quality is the best. Thanx for sharing.
Sir Paul is very talented. I feel that he has a lot of love to share, based on all of his music that I have recently listened to. Inside there must be a sensitive soul. I wish the best for him.
@@davidr.5789 Thanks....there are many interviews done with Paul, in which he says, that he originally wanted to be a songwriter in the old fashioned style of tin pan alley....he adored Fred Astaire, and it sure shows in many of his tunes..."You Gave Me The Answer" "Honey Pie" "Your Mother Should Know" "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" right off the top of my head, and I'm sure there are others if i were too go thru his catalogue..."When I'm 64"....but thanks again for the info!!!
@@brucetowell3432 you're welcome, Bruce. This broadcast was done in 1973 especially because Paul had a deal with Sir Lew Grade, CEO of ATV ( owner of Beatles songs) who allowed Paul to collect royalties during Paul's lawsuit to disband The Beatles. Paul and Wings played live several numbers among the first Wings songs ( the Mess, my love, Live and let die...) and composed for the show a new song in the style of musicals he particulary likes.
@@davidr.5789 yes, Dave, I saw it back then...I had just forgotten about the show's vaudeville type number ...he wrote many great tunes during this time period 1972-1975....I remember learning "My Love" by ear rather quickly during this period...in fact my ear has a little muscle type of memory that when I need to hear an "A"...i just about get it right all the time...believe it's from the Bb Maj 7th chord at the beginning. I actually like the way they "slow down" the tempo on many of the numbers. Or maybe that's the recorded speed and when I used to play my vinyl on my record players, the speed was always a tad fast? Were you able to spring for the Vinyl box set? Hoping "BTTE" and "London Town" get their Archive release soon!! thanks God Bless!
Gracias Paul!!!
I listed the songs as best as I could. There were some I never heard. Big Barn Red, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Little Woman Love, C Moon, My Love, Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey, a song about being a stick in the mud, Gotta Sing Gotta Dance (tap dancing???), Live and Let Die, old people on the street singing Beatles songs (When I'm 64, A Hard Day's Night, Can't Buy Me Love, She Loves You, Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da, Yesterday, Yellow Submarine), The Mess, Maybe I'm Amazed, Long Tall Sally, Yesterday
I was fortunate to see Paul McCartney perform at Texas Stadium during his World Tour in 1990. My seats were so far away Paul was only recognizable with binoculars; still it was a thrill of a lifetime. There was so much pyrotechnics used for effect during the performance of Live and Let Die, I thought the stage had blown up.
Bloke who does the announcement after 'Big Barn Bed' sounds like one of the voice actors from Joe 90, the guy who does the boss of WIN, the guy that Joe and Sam go to to get their missions from and that.
What an amazing vision /vidio .. yes the '70's for me were amazing & to relive in now having been born in 1955 to hear his music once again feels so good in reflectio ...Yet to see this mixture of music and visualization so calling.. wish life were this easy once again.
