However, italians are people who can really listen to someone. For me, the crowd was observing with attention. There's no need to jump, clapping, scream. This type of "no interest" that you say, for me is: paying attention with style and constructive criticism. Remember that Italians have invented Opera, Music notation, and the Piano, just to make an example. Without italians, James Taylor couldn't have played the Hammod.
the word is pretentious, spain is the same. I saw Macy Gray in Benalmadena, 2017, I never would have thought I knew so many off her songs. It was july, the locals were dressed as if they were going to the opera. the foreigners were in flip flops and shorts, dancing singing with the band. She ended with about 100 people on stage. great gig, great band. Same with Incognito in a jazz festival near madrid and prince in Marbella. Bunch of posers.
Tough crowd - the italians.....I've seen this band live and normally james has everybody on their feet singing, dancing , clapping, doing the hula. This is a great live band. However this is an example of when showmanship goes wrong - or when italians are impervious to any invitation. Funny to watch James trying hard to get them singing and no interest...
It’s Milan, generally speaking northern Italians are a bit colder. But not always, I’ve been at a Harlem Gospel Choir in Blue Note in Milan and people have been standing and clapping and singing. Of course, not in a crazy way, but they enjoyed and joined 😊. I’m from Milan and I find it hard to let loose, sometimes, but it’s not because I feel important, ahaha
