I've seen all the covers and my opinion, Jamie's cover is the best version of this song in existence. And I have NEVER felt that way about any cover being better than even the original. But my god, the energy he brings to jazz music is fucking electric. It's radical but so meticulously well executed and exactly what jazz needed when he was on the come up. He's one of the greats in my book
@@eoin. just think I ii and V, with a direct modulation to the major key of the mediant (III) followed by ii V I in that new key, then a chromatic descent and back to the main key
saw him on parkinson about 9 years ago didnt know who he was I was mesmorised by him then and hes still my favorite artist today hes a real showman with so much passion for what he does I dont like jazz but I love this guy and everthing he does
It's not all about his singing, it's more like he's one with the music.. This is more than just a concert, it's like a mash between drama, music and pure feeling. Yet, this is more than a musical. I really can't explain more than this, sorry.
beginning at like 3:03 his fingers are moving so incredibly fast and with amazing accuracy it's absolutely mind-boggling. How many years does it take to perfect that kind of speed and precision?
I agree, he is genius... and he takes some irreverence to this song. But Sinatra is not just about singing... He had a thing with interpretation, he got the moves, the right timing to add a personal touch to the songs, to sometimes talk instead to sing, which , to me, is unique.. But instrumentally, Jamie is really fantastic, he can do with the piano what Sinatra did with his voice...
@JHyde92 \well.. when sinatra sings something he takes it to himself.... like I've Got You Under My Skin.... i really don't remember who had it written... but the original version is irrelevant near Sinatra's...Like Moon River, My Way (Elvis' version is good too but nothing like Blue Eyes')
@gabriel3374 LOL... sinatra really couldn't play the keys like Jamie... but you can't compare Jamie's voice with the Blue Eyes'... Sinatra is the best crooner in HISTORY... It would be REALLY great if could be Sinatra singin with Jamie playing the keys... Jamie IS genius... INDEED... but he will NEVER sing as well as Sinatra...
He doesn't claim to be jazz.. but a mix of Jazz and Popculture.. He does this on-purpose. Because he loves it. How dare you claim he is a joke to jazz. What instruments to play and tour with? End of joke.
