Jamie Cullum sings "Land Of Begin Again" at the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall, London on 7th November 2009. This is produced solely to promote Jamie and his music.
This is the first time I have ever heard this song. What an inspired choice by Jamie and a beautiful, moving performance. I hope he records it - he has the perfect voice, filled with pathos and emotion - brought a tear to my eye - thanks :-)
Something about Jamie's version that really brings a lump to the throat. I hope to sing his rendition myself one day soon - when we're allowed to sing again...
Bing Crosby sang a completely different song. This is a wartime (WW2) song by Dame Vera Lynn released in 1942. Written by Hugh Charles and Ross Parker. It's achingly beautiful, full of hope in a time of despair. I can only imagine the emotions it brought up at the time.
This was recorded by Vera Lynn 1942; written by (Hughie Charles / Ross Parker). I thought Bing Crosby sang "In The Land Of Beginning Again" which is a different song. If he did actually record it I would like to listen to his version. Enjoy the Ol' Crooner immensely.
Jamie loved Bing Crosby, who also sang this. I'm sure he feels hampered by the fact that he hasn't got a fraction of Bing's voice quality.....Poor kid. What a fine musician he is eh?
